Wet Wednesday Woes!

Hello everyone,

What a couple of days it`s been; there have been so may highs and lows I`m starting to feel quite dizzy!  Monday, as I told you Jim went fishing with his mate Mark.  They had a smashing day and though the "big `un" eluded them both, they caught so many fish they hardly had time to rest, shame they`re not edible as my freezer would be full up.

Here he is with a smaller than usual but quite attractive carp....It must be a female...lol!

Mrs Daphne Duck and her brood.

Mrs. D again taking all ten of the kids for a swim.

Yesterday morning Jim woke up with a dreadful headache.  It continued through the morning and despite him taking tablets it just got worse.  I called his firm and told them that he wasn`t going to work.  I must admit I was getting really worried about him.  He does suffer from migraine from time to time but this seemed far worse than usual, however by mid afternoon it subsided somewhat and he seemed much better.  Then I started to get a headache, though not as bad as Jim`s, then so did Kerry.  I can only guess that it`s another virus because none of us feel to bright right now.  Kerry feels really bad again:  I think this rota-virus of Roman`s has done an about turn and has bitten us all again.  Now if we only had some decent weather....sigh.

In the late afternoon the carpet fitters arrived, all three of them...why so many were needed goodness knows but who was I to argue?  Anyway, they did a brilliant job and we now have the luxury of walking up and downstairs with our toes sinking in the deep, squidgy pile...and without the worry of impaled feet...bliss!  I took photos of the finished hallway and I`ll post them tomorrow, with the `before` photos so you can see the improvement.

Today started well, it was sunny, Roman has cut another tooth without any obvious pain, I went out and visited an old friend and we caught up with all the gossip.  All in all, it was a GOOD day...until.  This afternoon I took Jake to the vet for his annual booster.  It was raining quite heavily and as he`d just got back from his afternoon walk with Jim, I decided to drive there.  I loaded him into the car expecting him to sit in the wheel well in the front of my car but he had other ideas, it was to be the passenger seat or the driver`s seat.  As I don`t think much of his driving skills it had to be the latter.  So off we went, the vet is only a couple of streets away so we would be there and back in no time...or so I thought.  The vet was pleased with his general health and vaccinated him, dished out some working pills and flea remedy and helped me take out a second mortgage to pay her bill...lol!  Then it was back to the car, a slight squabble about who was driving and then home again. That`s when the day turned nasty.  You see, the schools had turned out and I had quite forgotten this important piece of information.  I usually steer clear of even leaving the house between 3-4.30 pm to avoid school traffic and flippin` awkward kids who think it`s their right to walk along the middle of the road and try and stop the traffic.  Today being no exception, but like I said, I`d forgotten the time.....3.45, and today it was my turn to become a statistic.  Turning into my little road, up ahead were three girls aged no more than 13, they saw me coming and promptly jumped into the road, whooping loudly, so that I had to creep along behind them.  I was not at all pleased and gave them a small blast of the hooter, they didn`t move and carried on laughing.....I was just about to do it again when they jumped out of the way again and one of these young ladies shouted " Are you ( 7 letter expletive)blind?".  That did it, I pulled over and asked her to repeat what she said.  The other two girls looked terrified and kept telling me it wasn`t them but the other girl.  I reminded them that they were joining in the `fun` and were as much to blame as the other girl, who, I might add didn`t care one bit that I was sitting there with steam coming out of my ears!  Jim said to report the matter to the school in question and I will do just that tomorrow.  I know I don`t know their names but the school ought to know about the behaviour of their pupils....grrrrr!   It might sound silly but it spoiled my day, those girls could have been killed playing their silly games, and had that girl spoken to  someone else like that there`s no telling what their reaction might have been.

Anyway, that`s enough of my ranting for one day.  I hope you`ve all had a lovely day.  Take care and Bye Bye for now.

Oh Sandra, I can see the steam from here...LOL!!! Trouble is they think they are so funny, but if they were to see what their stupidy could cause then they would not be laughing. Sorry to hear you are feeling rough with these headaches! I've got a scratchy throat today, but then Hayley has had a cold and Angela has as well and I have been with both of them in the last few days.

Pity Jake wasn't driving, he could've run those nasty little girls over!! I can't bear bad language from anyone and certainly think you were right to have a go at those girls. Well done!! I hope your headaches are going now, strange you should all get them! Can't wait for piccies of your hall. Jeannette xx

Glad Jim had a good fishing day. That is a good picture of him.  The mother duck and her babies was good also. I think their babies are so cute. Sounds as if you may have to share the driving with Jake LOL. That was bad what those girls did and dangerous. What gets me is how they could so discourtous to grownups. My daughter has to put up with that kind of behavior in school. One week and one more day then school will be out for the summer and she can hardly wait for that much awaited break. Hope all of you feel better soon. Hugs, Helen

I always enjoy reading your blog Sandra and today was no exception , you had me laughing and chuckling over Jakes driving skills and  sympathising  about the headaches and bugs you are all suffering from unfortunately. Well done to Jim over his fishing skills(luck) and great you finally have your hall and stairs finished BUT oh..top marks for keeping your cool over the stupid senseless irresponsible teenage girls in the road...I would have been tempted to run them over!!  There are lots of good and decent kids today but I cannot abide the ones we have  to tolerate now that are a plague on society.  I hope you do complain to the school.  Afriend of mine was incensed the other week at the way schoolkids out at dinner time were throwing their rubbish on the pavement in front of a litter picker for him to have to pick up...so insulting to the poor man . She complained to the school but I don't know what effect if any it had on the pupils.

Know what you mean about 'Clever' kids...I always try to avoid doing anything around that time of day, and they don't expect a 'reaction' from you
Sorry it spoiled your Day...but hope the evening was better!

Wow!  On this side of the pond if you stopped your car and reprimanded some children, you'd be arrested!  So often I would like to do just that, arrest or no.  Nervy creatures they have become, shouting bad words and gestures to adults.  Well, I can't fix the world, but I pray I am teaching my girls well.  Many blessings, Penny http://journals.aol.com/firestormkids04/FromHeretoThere

I know how it is feeling sick.    I could not get up this morning and hoped that by staying in bed resting I would do my draining ear and whatever infection good by resting.    This afternoon it was sunshiny and the rain had left and it was in the comfortable 70's.   I was finally able to get outside and got some work done cutting trim and installing it.    I was able to work to 7:30 pm and then watched the next to final episode of Lost.    That is good that Roman is thru cutting another tooth and without any problem.    Jake has behavior like Salty when I tell him to stay in the back seat he jumps into the front when I am getting out to open the back door.   I do manage to keep him in the back seat when driving.     Because of my having dial-up I was unable to see Jim's fish as it was cut off.     I hope you start getting over the bug that has had your family down.     mark

I guess kids can be brats all over the world.  They were disrespectful to say the least.   Mrs. D is a cutie and those babies...what a gaggle!  I'll glady give you some of our sunshine & heat for some of your rain.  It's getting very dry here, I have to water all my hanging baskets & pots each evening.  When I get a migraine, I just have a little caffeine, coffee, Coke..whatever.  It's usually gone within 30 mins.  Hope you're all feeling better soon.   Linda in sunny & hot Washington

Hi Sandra !  I love the photo of your husband with the mirror ~ I love going fishing!! We have booked to go for the whole bank holiday weekend, our first trip out this year and I can't wait lol....in fact I mentioned it in my entry yesterday if you fancy a read :-) I also get migraines, although only occasionally now, so sympathise a great deal and hope you're all feeling better. I can also relate to driving around school time ~ I hate driving anyway.......if it's any consolation the kids round here are no better and I'd definitely report it to the school if I were you. Hope you're ok now :-)

Oh, good for you, Sandra.  I was hoping you were going to say you took that little brat over your knee and gave her a good spanking but then the next line you would have been Jim had to bail you out of jail for child beating.  I loved the pictures of Mamma Duck and her babies - adorable.  I don't dare show my husband Jim's fish - he's been wanting to get away for a fishing trip and it might make him cry.  LOL               Kathy
