Monday Quiet Time

Hello everyone,

I`m back feeling much better today.  Thanks for all your good wishes, it`s really nice to read them all. I`ve had a leisurely weekend for me, Jim is on late shift and apart from cooking Sunday dinner for Kerry and Roman I`ve not seen a soul.  I`m not complaining as it`s nice to have some quiet time to get online without being disturbed.

It was raining all last night and right through until about 10 this morning when the sun broke through the heavy clouds.  Since then it has gone from warm and sunny back to pretty darn cold, not at all the sort of weather we want for Summer.  My poor garden just hasn`t looked as nice this Spring as it usually does.  Only the Magnolia really tried to look spectacular but somehow didn`t quite make it.  I suppose all the other flowers will make another attempt at looking beautiful next year.

I`ve noticed that my weight has been creeping up again since Easter, what with the two boxes of chocolates I devoured and Jim`s birthday Guinness cake, it`s little wonder and I only have myself to blame...what do I do?  I never used to put weight on and for years I weighed little over 8 stones/112 lbs.  But over the last 5/6 years I`ve slowly been getting just that little bit bigger until one day I decided to weigh myself and found I`d put on 16 lbs.....!  Not a lot in the scheme of things but for me that`s a huge amount.  I must be more sensible about my eating habits, if I`m honest I love my food, especially all the things that are bad for me, the unhealthier the better...sigh.

Have any other you seen my guestbook in the All About Me section?  I put it in there successfully on Sunday morning.  Please feel free to sign it, sadly nobody has yet...lol!  Thanks again Jeannette for the instructions.  Oh yes, the rat.....I`m starting to wonder if it might have packed it`s bags and moved to another garden as I haven`t seen him for a while.  The cat who has been visiting has brought some of her feline friends along and I think said rat has decided to move on while he still can.  But whether he has or not, I haven`t forgotten about buying a trap....lol!

Right, that`s it from me for today.  I hope you`re all enjoying the Bank Holiday and that the weather is being kind to you.  Bye Bye for now and take care. :o)

Strange Laws

In Texas, it's against the law for anyone to have a pair of pliers in his or her possession.

In Philadelphia, you can't put pretzels in bags based on an Act of 1760.

Alaska law says that you can't look at a moose from an airplane.

In Corpus Christie, Texas, it is illegal to raise alligators in your home.

In Miami, it is forbidden to imitate an animal.

It is against the law to mispronounce the name of the State of Arkansas in that State.

In Illinois, the law is that a car must be driven with the steering wheel.

California law prohibits a woman from driving a car while dressed in a housecoat.

In Tennessee, it is against the law to drive a car while sleeping.

In New York, it is against the law for a blind person to drive an automobile.

In West Virginia, only babies can ride in a baby carriage.

In Georgia, it is against the law to slap a man on the back or front.

A barber is not to advertise prices in the State of Georgia.

Happy to know that you are feeling better my friend.  Surprised you have put on weight with all the walking that you do with Jake etc. but cakes and chocolates will do it every time.  You will have to stop them!  What great graphics, your page looks so pretty and I adore the Irises which have a special meaning to me.

I'm glad you feel better, maybe it's the changing seasons that's made us all feel weird! It's sunny and cold here to, when's summer arriving, I want heat!! I was told by the doctor that it's usual for women to put on weight in their fifties. It's due to our oestrogen running low, fat contains some sort of oestrogen substitute so it's stored in oour bodies. Jeannette xxxx

112 lbs? In the US, you would not even be allowed to donate blood at that weight. Thats what Megan weighs. My left leg weighs 112 lbs. lol
I will check out your guest book.

Sandra, glad to hear you're feeling better.  I'm also glad to see there are no weird ;aws in the state of Washington.  I wish I weighed 112 lbs again...that would be wonderful. Linda

Hi Sandra,
Enjoyed your comments as usual. We had the same weather here in South Essex. At least it is filling up the water storage holes that we are told are very low.
Regards Dan.
