A Soggy Weekend

Hello everyone,

Welcome to a very wet and miserable Sunday.  And the good news is that it is to stay wet all week!  Good for the drought, bad for those who are looking forward to some Summer sunshine, one of which is me, and I might add many of you too.  Yesterday Jim and I were starting to plant the Petunias and down came the rain, along with a really strong wind that was blowing all the blossom off of the Horse Chestnut tree opposite.  So not only were we wet and windswept, but covered in blossom too, what a sight we were!  So now I have nothing to do, I`ve done the housework, including the ironing and all that needs doing is the garden.  I can only hope the weathermen have got it all wrong and tomorrow will bring forth blue skies, sun and lovely warm weather.

I saw the oddest thing this morning;  I was taking a two minute break from the ironing and I was looking out of the window and sipping my coffee.  I saw a woman of about my age walking along the road pulling a double mattress to her car, which was parked rather dangerously on a pedestrian crossing.  The woman stopped a young man who was passing and he helped her to load it into the car by folding it in half.  The thing was that the car was really small and there was no way she could get in and drive with the mattress firmly stuffed inside.  The last I saw of her was when she was talking on her mobile phone, obviously to someone who could help her, when my phone rang and I had to leave the drama behind.  When Jim came home later on he told me that the woman had bought the mattress at the Car Boot sale across the road and loaded it on top of her car, which in itself wasn`t a problem, what was however, was that the car didn`t have a roof rack so she drove off with it balanced on the top of the car.  Further down the road it fell off into the road and that was why she was dragging it along.  It seemed a rather dangerous thing to have done just so that she could buy a cheap mattress...Oh well, it brightened up an otherwise dull morning!

Another thing about the dreadful weather is that Dan and Sal have hired a car for the weekend so they could go out and about.  It`s such a shame for them both as they had been looking forward to going to the coast and a themepark.  Knowing my son, it won`t have stopped him but nice weather would have been the icing on the cake.  I personally prefer to stay inside on wet days, I always have, even when I was much younger.  If I want to get wet I`ll have a shower...lol!  Anyway,  as I said I`ve not really done much this weekend so I`ll not bore you with any old rubbish.  I toddle off and read your journals now.  Enjoy your day, take care and Bye Bye for now. :o)

Just a Giggle

A man was telling his friend that he and his wife had a serious argument the night before.  "It ended," he said, " When she came crawling to me on her hands and knees."

"What did she say?" asked the friend.

" She said, Come out from under that bed, you coward!"

Oh that poor lady...how embarrassing.  After our week or so of 80 degree plus weather, I'm hoping for rain.  It rained Friday afternoon for a few hours but nothing since.  Now the weatherman is saying we may get rain this evening.  I hope so...everything is dried out.  I water everyday but it's not the same as a good soaking from Mother Nature. Love your graphics, Sandra !    Linda in WA

What a sight that must have been watching that poor lady!  I can't imagine going through all of that for an old mattress.
We are supposed to have rain tonight and tomorrow as well.  I thought we'd seen the last of it.
Enjoy your day inside even if you don't want to be stuck inside.  Maybe you could find a good movie and make something nice for dinner.

I laughed at the story at the end of your journal about the woman who came crawling at her husband on her hands and knees.  I have to copy that to an email and send it to some friends I know who will enjoy a good laugh today!  Hope the sun comes out soon and shines on your lovely flowers!

Bet that was funny watching the woman and the mattress. If she is going to do things like that she really needs to get herself some tie downs of some sort. Hope you get some pretty weather soon. I have never liked getting wet myself. Helen

Your tags are not normal to me...they have lines going thru them.
Its sunny and windy here. I have seen people holding their arms out the window to hold onto mattresses.

LOL what a silly woman to think she could drive with it on the top of her car like that lol..........I know what you mean I prefer to stay inside when it's raining but when I am out in it I would prefer it without the wind as that's useless with umbrellas!!  Hope Dan and Sal had a good weekend anyway xx

How did I miss this entry...wow.
That lady sounded like she did not have her brain in tact let alone room for the mattress.  So many interesting things happen just looking out your window...hug and love,
