Hello everyone,
Welcome to a very wet Monday. I don`t know exactly what time it started to rain but when I looked out of the window at 7.30 it looked as though it had been pouring down for hours. Well, we do need it say the forecasters, what with hosepipe bans and dire warnings about running out of water, I dare not complain. I would like to have a Summer where it rained all night and the sun shone all day. Is that too much to ask? hmm...probably but I like the idea.
Jake`s nose seems ok this morning and knowing him he`s forgotten all about it. He`ll probably try to take Sam`s ball away again. I said yesterday that he`d learned a valuable lesson but in hindsight I think that lesson would have only lasted a short while. Jake`s a sweetie but I think he was at the back of the queue when they were handing out brains....lol! Today was the first time that he was happy to go outside in the rain, in fact so happy that he didn`t want to come back in again and when he did it took me ages to get him dry again. Thank goodness for my now-working tumble dryer, the last thing I want are wet towels hanging around smelling of wet dog. Even with my cold I could still smell that.
When I walked Jake this morning I decided to go another way. I walked through our little estate on the the same route as I took to infants and junior school all those years ago. I though about all the local changes that had taken place since then and realised in fact, that there were`nt really very many at all. The kiddies play park has been fitted with `safe` equipment with lower slides and smaller swings, they`ve removed the Witch`s Hat and the Jungle Jim and the roundabout. All the things which gave us children so much pleasure back then. I remember hanging upside down from the top bar of the Jungle Jim, hanging upside down ( I loved to hang upside down!) on the Witch`s Hat while it spun round dangerously amid shrieks of laughter from us kids. Oh yes, those were the days when it was fun to be a child before the PC brigade spoiled our fun. Nowadays, there are signs around the park saying NO BALL GAMES. Where are they meant to play, in the road??? I carried on walking past the school which has been partly rebuilt, the authorities have filled in the man-made fish pond in case any child should fall in, ditto the pond in the nature reserve. Neither I may add are more than a foot deep and I know children have fallen in the past, me for one, but they certainly didn`t have any trouble getting out again. Back to the walk, a young woman stopped me and asked directions which I duly gave her, she was very grateful and after thanking me profusely she told me I was an angel! I`ve been called a few things in my time but never an angel...lol! That was my good deed for the day.
This afternoon Kerry starts back to work after three days off. Apparently Roman is sleeping better now so hopefully he`ll be fine tonight. In fact he`ll be here in about 45 mins so I`d better finish up here now. I hope the weather is better where you are even though I think it might be more widespread. Enjoy the rest of your day and take care. :o)

What fun we used to have, way to many years ago to count. But you know, I don't ever remember any of us getting hurt other than bump or bruise. Poor kids today just miss out on so much.
It's rainging in West Suffolk where I live and it has been since early early this morning. But I'm not complaing either. The thought of standpipes next year, makes me shudder LOL.

well u can drown in only 2 inches of water and i do think having a pond in a school is a silly idea...They still have climbing frame type things in playgrounds here but they have safer surface underneath them...I do think the no ball games signs in certain places are stupid though..It's sunny here although we did have rain during the night Caff xxx
Thanks for sharing your walk in the park ,yes Iagree the PC brigade have taken all the risk and adventure out of life for the youngsters today, enjoy Roman ,I'm sure you will ..a pig thats lost its voice ,disgruntled...SANDRA !...LOL LOL ....Jan xx
Oh dear sounds like you got our rain from yesterday lol.We will send you some more to fill your water supllies up lol.We used to have fun on them witches hats lol.
I always wonder if the 'no ball games' applies to owners of dogs as well, lol!!!! It has been chucking it down here but has stopped now thank goodness!
i used to love the monkey bars and would play on them until my hands bled. Things ARE so much different than they used to be! Glad that Jakes nose is ok and that Roman is doing better.
LOVE, lisa
I used to spend all my time in the playground and loved hanging upside down as well. What a shame that children are forbidden from having real fun these days. As to the fishponds, they could have taken some safety measure. We do with our pond as you know. The more ponds that are filled in the more wildlife we lose. Yes, you have to be careful with children and water but there are ways and means. Lol at Jake loving the rain and I do know what you mean about the smell of wet dog. Why on earth does wet fur smell like that, it must be one of the worst pongs in the world.

I used to spend each afternoon in the playground. I lived right across the street from it. It was great. The toys they have out there now are so boring compared to what we had as kids.
Enjoy Roman today. Stay dry.

Beautiful graphics again today. I hope poor Jake learned his lesson on snatching balls. Guess maybe the reason he didn't object to the rain today is because it has warmed up. That is great that Roman is sleeping better. Enjoy your time with him. Helen
Glad that Jake's nose is OK ~ Hope he has learned his lesson ~ and leave Sam's ball alone ~ I remember our play park ~ had all the equipment to have fun and adventure ~ today it is very boring just a few small swings and a rocking horse ~ my how things have changed there ~ glad Roman is settling down so Kerry can get a good nights sleep~ It has looked like rain all day but hasn't come to anything ~ but it did rain during last night ~ Ally

I used to love the witches hat and the big slide in the park, of course we fell and scraped the skin off our knees...we were kids, it healed!! Glad Roman is sleeping better now. We had rain and thick fog today, ugh!! Jeannette xxxx
I am sure you are worthy of being called an angel! the only time I was called Angel was when my name was mixed up.Rachel.
Great entry, it's raining a lot here tonight.Nice graphics

Isn't it fun to think back to the fun we had as kids and marvel at the fact that we lived through those years without car seats, seat belts, safety equipment, bike helmets, shin guards, and fire resistent fabric for our pajamas? It's a wonder anyone of us lived past the age of 4!
Kathy
We had our rain all day yesterday and the night before...we needed it. Sun is out today. So happy Jakes nose is okay...yep, he has probably forgotten all about the incident. So nice someone called you an angel...makes your day brighter...
So happy too Roman is sleeping better and Kerry is back to work...all seems well there..great news.
Hugs and love,
Joyce
