Hello everyone,
Welcome to another Friday and the start of what will be a lovely hot and sunny weekend. Well, that`s what I`d like it to be, NOT what the forecasters are saying, at least I doubt it anyway. I haven`t even bothered to listen to the weather lately because I know it`s bound to be depressing, some Summer this is turning out to be. It`s been so windy today that I`ve had to tie my Wisteria to a much thicker stake to stop it being bent in half, or worse, snapped right through. It`s also rather chilly and there are heavy intermittent showers, all designed to make for a very gloomy day. In town this morning I bought a tray of Bizzie Lizzies and a red Carnation to add to my several trays of Petunias. They are all waiting to be planted out in window boxes, troughs etc. So far I`ve only managed to plant some of them at the back of the house, I`m hoping to do the rest of them tomorrow, weather permitting.
This morning Jim and I went into town without Kerry and Roman. Kerry is still feeling unwell so we had to drink our morning coffee in Marks and Spencer`s all by ourselves! It`s quite strange without the two of them and even the staff asked where they were. Later, we popped in to see them and Kerry said Roman has been as good as gold. She was worried that because she wasn`t playing with him as much as usual he`d be quite fretful but not at all, he has just been sitting and playing with his toys, perhaps he knows that Mummy isn`t well. Later on I took him for a walk in his pushchair, Kerry was conerned that he hadn`t had any fresh air today so I happily obliged. While we were out we stopped at the sweetshop so Roman could buy some Milky Bar chocolate buttons...he made me take him in there...lol! I only let him have half of one sweet and he certainly loved the taste! I won`t make a habit of it but I just liked the idea of taking my grandson out to the sweetshop, it was just a small thing but it gaveme a lot of pleasure.
Jim is visiting his Mum this afternoon, apparently she`s been much better since she was moved to a different unit within the care home. Jim and his sister have noticed that the nurses and carers there seem to be nicer, kinder people who spend time talking to the residents and treating them with the respect they deserve, unlike the place she was moved from. Just because people suffer from Dementia doesn`t mean that they are any different from anyone else. Now she always has colour co-ordinated clothes on, instead of the first thing that came out of the wardrobe in the morning. Also because she is treated so well, Jim can rest easier and not worry about his Mum quite as much as he has done.
This evening we were going to the cinema but there`s not really anything we want to see badly enough. Tickets aren`t cheap these days and it`s not like TV or a DVD where you can switch off if you don`t like it. Once you`ve paid you may as well sit it out, or on the other hand, don`t go , just wait until a film is released on DVD unless you really want to see it on the big screen. That`s my economy tip for the day! I`d like to thank all of you for your lovely comments about the hallway, Jim is taking decorating commisions so if you`d like any work done, please leave your name and phone number and I`ll get back to you. If I can`t find a job I`ll send the hubby out to work for me instead! Seriously though, he was really pleased with your comments, so thanks for making an old man very happy....lol!
I`m off now to read your journals so all that`s left for me to say is have a really nice weekend, Bye Bye for now and take care. :o)

" What do you call Santa`s assistants?"

To err is human, but to really mess things up requires a computer.
" What is the definition of an archaeologist?"

Thanks, Sara for the lovely tag:o)

I am glad Jim's mother has been moved to a unit where she gets better care. That is a shame that people don't treat other people as they should. I have plenty of projects around here to do if Jim has any free time. LOL. Glad you enjoyed your outing with Roman. Have a nice weekend. Helen
Don't give up on summer, just yet, Sandra. It doesn't even officially start until June 21! Then ther's plenty of time (too much time for my taste) for hot weather. I would love to live in a climate where tje temp never went over 75 or below 10 (both Farenheit) but I'm not sure such a place exists.
sounds like youve been having a nice time and keeping busy!!! Have a great weekend and eat some chocolate for me :)
Kara
Isn't it fun to take your grandson out for a little piece of sweet candy? It's practically our right as their grandma to spoil them just a little. I hope your daughter is much better by Monday and that you and your husband have a great weekend! Kathy
Hi Sandra! Awful weather here too all week and no better for the weekend :-( drives you mad doesn't it, especially when we had a little taster already :-) We have planted petunias and bizzie lizzies this year ~ they look lovely. I have some pics on my journal if you'd like to see them. It was our first attempt! I hope Kerry gets better soon and my mum was always buying my kids sweets, in fact she still does lol ~ all part of the fun!! I'm glad Jim and his mum are happier too, that's great news.
love Debbie ~xxx~

It is an event if Rick and i go to the movies. Too much effort.
I just love the thought of you and Roman having a bit of chocolate together. I can only imagine how much he loved it.
HUGS,lisa
Hey there. Hope Kerry is better soon! Love hearing about Roman. Did you ever wonder what life was like before him? He's such a sweetie and I can tell he is loved so much by his family.
I love reading about Roman. I bet he was so cute when he tasted the sweet chocolate. Glad Jim's Mum is doing well in her new place. It's such a great relief when we know our loved ones are cared for the way they should be.
I agree with you wholeheartedly on the movies, too! I must admit I usually wait for it to be out on cable or DVD. Like you, I don't want to pay the money and hate the movie. Too expensive for that nowadays.
Enjoy your weekend.
Pam
Glad to hear the place Jims Mum has moved to is much better for her and for Jims peace of mind. How sweet that little Roman played good on his own,I think they sometimes sense when things are not right.Slava will be so pleased to see them both on June 6th.Nice you could take Roman out and get him his first sweets.....Jeanx
I bet it was strange going to M & S without Kerry and Roman, bless him for making you go into a sweetshop lol ;-) Hope Kerry is feelin' better. I'm glad Jim's mum is getting the care and attention she deserves. :-)
