WET DOG WEEKEND!

Hello everyone.......

I`d like to be able to tell you it`s raining here and that I`m doing the same as Winnie and Piglet (above), but it isn`t, and I`m not, so I won`t!    I just liked the graphic and didn`t want to wait forever to post it.

Jim day fishing was very eventful.  He hooked a lot of fish but failed to land any.  He said everything that could go wrong did go wrong.  His line broke several times and other fish wriggled free at the last moment.  To top it all he broke afront tooth and has had to make an emergency dental appointment.

He thinks he will need it capped and Kerry remarked that he looks as though he`s been in a fight, to which he replied, " I did, with a fish....and the fish won!".  I`m glad he can laugh about it because I wouldn`t open my mouth until I`d had it fixed.

This morning Kerry called me to say that her washing machine has broken and she can`t contact the letting agency until monday, so I`ve put her washing on our line.  It`s probably easier for me to do it for her than for her to bring the wet washing here. When she and Slava arrived I gave them a coffee and then told Kerry I had a little job for her,..... hold on to Jake`s collar while I gave him a bath in the garden.  Oh what fun we had too, I filled a bucket of tepid water mixed with his shampoo.  Kerry sat on the coffee bench gingerly holding his lead.  As for Jake, he just stood there and shook like a jelly.  Once I had tipped the soapy liquid over him, he stopped shaking and resigned himself to becoming clean.  Of course, he did shake himself from time to time, spraying  me and Kerry with water and by the time it came to rinse him off he just stood there meekly while I hosed him down.   Now his coat is lovely and shiny, and he smells fragrant and less like an old slipper!

At lunchtime we went to the garden centre cafe and had bacon and egg sandwiches.  They make the best sandwiches there that sometimes I can`t make up my mind what to eat, you are so spoiled for choice.  Afterwards I bought a summer flowering jasmine to join the one aready climbing the trellis.  Jim had extended the trellis along the fence so that the new plant will join up with the existing one.  They are starting to flower for thew first time and the scent is heavenly.

At this moment Jim is putting the finishing touches to the paving slabs.  He won`t finish until tomorrow because he has had to remove a fence panel so he can finish off the concrete.

Before I go, the steak salad went down very well yesterday and Kerry took some home for Slava because I had made far too much.  This evening I made cajun potato wedges, I`d never made them before but they were all eaten so they must have been okay!

Enjoy the rest of your day and have a relaxing Sunday. Take care.

BLONDE ON BLONDES

A policeman pulled alongside a speeding car on the motorway.  Looking into the car he was shocked to see that the blonde behind the wheel was knitting.  Realising that she was oblivious to the flashing lights and siren, the officer wound down his window and yelled,  "PULLOVER!"  "NO," the blonde yelled back, "IT`S A SCARF!"

Still cannot tell what the temperature is your way because I still work in Fahrenheit.  I know exactly what the temperature is then.  Sorry to hear about Jim's tooth, hope he gets sorted soon . We have no NHS dentists anywhere around us.  Glad Jake liked the bath.  Mike is taking our two to the lake again this evening.  They would have gone earlier but Becky and Nathan were here all afternoon. I made her put her feet up and watch a DVD because she says she is struggling.  She cannot even sit in an armchair only a hard dining chair and she still has to wait until the end of August. I do feel for her.  I have offered lots of assistance but Becky is very independent. xxxxxxx

It sounds like bathing a dog is easier than my experience trying to bath my 25 lb cat, Alexander. I was wet from my neck to my knees and eventually just took him to a groomer for his lion cut and bath.  That was much easier.  Sandra, I think you should post your recipe for your steak salad.  It sounds good to me...I'd love to try it.  It's nice and cool today, here in the great Pacific Northwest of the USA...

Sandra, it is almost 11p.m. and I came to check your pixie to see how things were at your end.  She has not changed from daylight to dark like mine and Stuarts do.  How did you put her on there?   Could be that your weather station has not updated, but she should change.  By the way, I love the graphic, we can certainly use some rain, they say maybe Wednesday..........but then they said that last week!

Loved your graphics. Poor Jake shaking because he knew what was coming. Our Jake is smaller so he just gets his bath in the bath tub. Poor Jim because he broke his tooth and still didn't get any fish to keep. At least it was an exciting day for him. Hope Kerry soon gets her washer going again. Your stead salad sounded good. Helen

Poor Jim!  At least he didn't do what my hubby did when he broke his front tooth - years ago, way before I met him.  He filed them down himself, ouch!  Had them capped now though, silly man!!
I have such a picture in my head of you and Kerry giving Jake a bath, it's making me grin!!  Glad to hear he doesn't smell like an old slipper anymore ;o)

Poor Jim and the fish.  I feel for Kerry and the washing machine, every womans nightmare is to have it go down.  You are a sweet Mom helping her out.  Bet Jake loved the bath in a way...he loves water! The food sounds really good...glad you enjoyed!!!!!
You have a wonderful Monday and week ahead.

I've forgotten what rain looks and feels like now - but your wonderful graphic brings it all back refreshingly! At least Jake has had a good soaking. That food sounds so scrumptious - not surprised all the potato wedges disappeared! Poor old Jim breaking a tooth - must have been a hell of a battle with the fish in question!
