WASPS AND WATER

Hello everyone......

Welcome to a beautiful English summer`s day.  Sunny and not TOO hot with a lovely fresh breeze blowing. We do badly need some rain though as we haven`t had any of substance for months.  Even the downpour we had the other day soon dried up leaving the garden bone dry again.  I`m watering my window boxes twice daily just to maintain them and I feel quite guilty giving so much water to a few summer flowers but I won`t let them die.  We`ll have a hosepipe ban very soon, I`m sure.  My fifty gallon water barrel is almost empty....fifty gallons, just for my two windowboxes!

Kerry came for a walk with me and Jake again, she is looking better everyday, and walking quite well too.  In fact, she made me laugh this morning, we were both eating a bar of chocolate whilst walking down the road, when a wasp started to hover around Kerry.  When it got to persistant she broke into run to escape it. It was the fastest I`d seen her move for months!

My friend B. came over to see me today.  She`s recently been to Spain on holiday and she was telling me all about it.  It sounds lovely and we may be going with them next year.  Next years holiday already..... I do like to plan ahead.

Jim went to the dentist yesterday to see about his broken tooth.  He is going back tomorrow to be fitted for a crown.  It is going to cost a kings ransom but he doesn`t really have a choice, unless he wants to walk around without a front tooth!   Luckily we are in a dental plan, but it will still cost quite a bit. Life is just one big expense.

The other day I made some sweet potato wedges which we had with fish.  I`ve never had sweet potato before but I didn`t care that much for it.  Maybe I`ll try to cook it another way but I couldn`t eat it like that again.  Does anyone know a good way to cook them?

I`ve sent out emails with requests for friends in J-Land to send me photos and names of their dogs.  If I have forgotten you I`m sorry, if you would like to participate by sending me a photo for a forthcoming journal entry I have planned, I`d very much appreciate your help.  That`s it for now friends, have a lovely day and take care of yourselves.

DOG PROPERTY RULES

1)   If I like it, it`s mine.

2)  If it fits in my mouth, it`s mine.

3)  If I can take it from you, it`s mine.

4)  If I had it a little while ago, it`s mine.

5)  If I`m chewing something up, all the pieces are mine.

6)  If it`s mine, it must never appear to be yours anyway.

7)  If it just looks like mine, it`s mine.

8)  If I saw it first, it`s mine.

9)  If you are playing with something and you put it down, it automatically becomes mine.

10)  If it`s broken, it`s yours.

Tried to persuade hubby that we need to get a dog, so that I can send a pic.  He's not having it though!  Booo!  Ooh, can't wait to see what you're going to do with all those pics :o)
Glad Kerry is doing well.

sorry you didn't like the sweet potatoes.  I love them, but then I am totally a vegetable person.  I don't have any secret recipes.  I just bake them like I would any ole spud.  Love the graphic.  It looks so cool and inviting.  Pennie

Our drought was ended with quite a bit of rain from Dennis.  Further  north it is still in severe drought with crops that will not be worth much at harvest.  Wasps can be nasty, I've been stung and have an epipen to inject myself in the leg to keep from having a reaction.  Good thing Kerry got away.  Hope she is doing well.  Will enjoy seeing the "dog show".  ~mark~

You already have my picture of dogs Sandra.  Yes, the water situation is bad but so far we have not been informed of a water ban, no doubt it will come.  Great minds think alike. I had intended to do an entry today and was going to use the same graphic! lol.  In the end I was too tired with all that has been going on. Lol at Kerry and the wasp.

I have some recipes using sweet potatoes. It will take me a while to find them but keep checking my journal and I will put some in soon. We put a whole potatoe in the microwave until soft, split it open, put enough butter in it to cause major heart attack and enjoy.
