`The Green Olive` restaurant
Kerry, Annissa and me
Slava and Jim
Hello everyone,
The above pics were taken last night at the Greek restaurant. I was asked to report back to tell of my experiences with a food I`d never eaten before. Well now I have , is is alright if I don`t try it again?! I have to say in all honesty that it is for me. The majority of the foods presented were ok but quite oily which didn`t do much for my digestion and some of them.....well I have no idea what they were!
The evening started out very well. On arriving at the restaurant, Kerry, Jim and I sat down for a drink while we waited for Kerry`s guests to arrive. Most were a bit late due to the fact that they don`t live locally and finding a place to park in Windsor is never easy on a Friday evening, and the restaurant is situated just across the road from Windsor Castle and it`s not possible to park close by. When everyone was there we ordered the set meal and the first course was the cold starter which consisted on lots of small dishes of exotic sounding things that I`d not heard of, apart from humous and stuffed grape leaves. I must point out that Joyce recommended the latter to me as one of her favourite Greek starters....I have to say that they were very nice too. Next we had the hot starters which also had lots of little dishes with unrecognisable things in them. There were cheese filos (tasty but very rich) and these little sausage-like things and they were awful....thankfully I wasn`t alone in thinking that! The main course followed and that was again several dishes. There was mousaka (very tasty). A type of beef in a sauce, I didn`t have any. Chicken kebabs (not bad) and some deep fried potatoes (delicious!), and lots of Greek salad wth feta and riccotta cheese. Then we had the dessert, what there was of it...tiny little pastries, each one no more than an inch square, deep fried and soaked in honey...too sweet for me, no wonder they were so tiny, followed by the most wonderful cappuchinos.
All in all, apart from not being a lover of the food, we all had a lovely time of it. Kerry was presented with a huge furry toy dog and her puppy. Her friends from work had a collection for her and they bought it from Harrod`s , no less! When it was presented to her we had just put the camera away in readiness to come home, but I`ll get a photo of them when I next go to Kerry`s. They also signed a leaving card for her. There are also lots of presents for the baby, who now has so many outfits, he won`t need anymore clothes for a year!
Kerry herself has been getting some pains the last few days that sound suspiciously like she may be getting ready for labour sooner than her due date. We shall have to wait and see.......watch this space!
Today Jim and I went to the Battersea Country Annexe annual dog show. We had a great time. I`ll post some photos and rell you all about it tomorrow. I`ll sign off now. Have a lovely day and take care.
SMILES FOR THE DAY

We can all get more out of our lives if we avoid building unnecessary fence - work and play belong to the same world, and the possibilities for laughter lie equally within each of them.
Out shopping
I went to a bookshop and asked the saleswoman, "Where`s the self-help section?" She wouldn`t tell me. She said it would defeat the whole purpose.
Great news!
" Whoopee!" yelled the blues singer on hearing that he`d been offered his first record contract. "The only trouble is, I never felt less like singing the blues!"

Maybe I am wrong about the baby being late then although Becky had the same three weeks before Nathan was born. To be honest, I have never eaten Greek food, but I hate anything too oily or greasy so I do not think it would appeal to me. The dog sounds so cute and I am glad that she has lots for the baby. I would have liked to eat right across from Windsor castle. Glad weather has improved! xxxxxx
I had greek once and never again! YUK. I must say both yours and Kerry's hair look fabulous!

I have never eaten any Greek food either. It all sounded interesting. I think Kerry looks just like you. Good pictures. Hope She does ok. That's good that she has got a lot of new baby things. That would have been exciting eating across from Windsor Castle. Have a wonderful weekend. Helen
Other than a gyro made with lamb meat (YUK !) I've never had anything Greek. However, I have eaten Armenian and Persian food and some of it is yummy, unless it contains lamb. Those cultures include lamb in a lot of their dishes. And I just don't care for it at all. Great pictures Sandra...
Glad you had a good time these are nice happy photos
Love the photo's Sandra, Kerry looks well as does your hair! Lol! Well, it does, nice and shiny :o)
Have decided that I must eat at a Greek restaurant some day, you get cold starters AND hot starters? Mmmm!

Wonderful photos - and it looks a great restaurant. Glad you had a nice evening, even if some of the food didn't come up to expectations. The cappuchinos sounded worth waiting for though!
David.
It sounds as if you had a lovely evening and the photos turned out great. Trying new foods is an adventure. I once had a man friend that would make a whole evening out of trying foods that we had never eaten before. We had so much fun and boy did we eat some interesting things. Pennie

Well, I've loved your Greek entry. Now I see what everyone looks like. What a gorgeous family you are. Glad you had a good time even though you did not like the food. We eat Greek a lot. It's 'casual Greek'. I don't think we have any "gourmet Greek restaurants". But we go to some hole-in-the-wall places and just love them. I love the lamb meet or whatever kind of meat it is, with the ranch like sauce over it. Then we add hot sauce. It comes over rice and with a salad with some kind of vinegarette and feta cheese. YUM! YUM! YUM! I crave this unique taste at least once a month. I don't care for grape leaves, but some times I like the taboulah and hummus. Hubby makes his own hummus that we eat with minature pita pockets. I like his better. We like all kinds of different cuisine! Thanks for sharing your pics.......looks like Hugh Grant in the back ground of the first one. LOL.
I have never had Greek food and i dont know if i ever want to either. I am glad you got out and had such a wonderful time. You and Kerry are SO beautiul...i loved seeing who's who in pics. Have a happy Sunday! Love, lisa jo
Sandra, your daughter is so pretty, she sure does look like you. Sounds like you have some exciting times coming your way in the next few weeks!
Take care,

Gyro's or I believe it is a combination of lamb and beef in a large roll on a rotisary cooker that is sliced off, is absolutely one of my favorite Greek sandwiches. Looks like you are having a good time. Hope Kerry is doing well and that things go well for her until delivery. She does look like you! Enjoyed the photos. Thanks for your comment in my journal.
God bless,
