Battersea Country Annexe Open Day Show
Hello everyone and welcome to a beautiful, hot, sunny Sunday. Another day has almost gone and I`ve not long been sitting down. This morning as usual for Sundays I did the dreaded ironing. Then we went to Black Park with Jake at lunchtime so he could have a swim. The water looked so inviting that I felt like joining him, but managed to restrain myself...lol! When we got hom several hours later, we went to Kerry`s and helped assemble the cot. The house is now almost back to how it was before we started collecting baby things. Just the pram and the 2 car seats to go and we are clear. The patio is coming on well but now Jim has got to the difficult bit. He`s having to do a lot of cutting and it`s all fiddly bits from now on. When it`s finished I`m planning on having a lirrle bistro table outside where Jim and I can have breakfast al fresco.....very European!
We spent yesterday at the dog show. Battersea Annexe is situated close to Runnymede in Old Windsor. The grounds are lovely and the kennels very well kept. There were lots of classes to enter but we were just watching it all. Jim guessed the winner of the `Dog with the Waggiest Tail` competition, he kept saying `I told you he`d win.` over and over. Jim had the camera and happily snapped away. he took a couple of me and Jake together, but in both I had my eyes shut so you won`t get to see them. They had games for dog`s where they could win prizes, Jake entered one of them where he had to pick up a toy from a large paddling pool. The prize depended on which particular shape the dog pulled out. Jake got a triangle and for that he won a blue doggy towel with paw prints and the words ` wipe your paws` on it. We bought some homemade brownies and fairy cakes....mmm, they were tasty too, and a toy for Jake. I bought him a new lead, it`s got a rubber handle with a gripping bar on it. I`ll take a photo of it to show you, it`s really good for a strong dog like Jake. I have total control of him now and it is very soft to hold. By the end of the day we were worn out and we headed off wearily for home. Jake slept all the way home which is unusual for him, and once home he collapsed in a heap in the garden to carry on where he left off. In a few weeks we are off to the Wag and Bone show, which is similar to Battersea but is a huge event. Last year we took Hannah to the show in what turned out to be her last big outing with us. But she had a great day munching on the free dog biscuits that were everywhere and taking part in doggy games where she won a `taking part` rosette. This year we`ll get lots of photo`s on the fun events and the dogs that take part.
That`s it from me today. Have a lovely day everyone, and take care of yourselves.
SMILES FOR THE DAY
Vow of silence
A man joined an abbey and took a vow of silence; he was allowed to speak only two words every five years. After the first five years had passed, he went to see the abbot and said, "Bed hard." Whereupon he turned around and walked out of the door.
Five years later he went to see the abbot again and said "Food cold." Again, he turned and walked out.
After another five years had passed, he once more went to see the abbot. This time he said "I quit."
"I`m not surprised," responded the abbot. "All you`ve done since you got here is complain."
New broom
Laughter is the brush that sweeps away the cobwebs of the heart.
Ulterior motive
"Always forgive your enemies; nothing annoys them so much."
Oscar Wilde
Ouch!
A husband and wife went to see a dentist. The husband said, "I want a tooth pulled. I don`t want gas or Novocain because I`m in a terrible hurry. Just do it as quickly as possible. "You`re a brave man," said the dentist. "Now, show me which tooth it is." So the husband turned to his wife and said, "Open your mouth and show him the tooth!"

Lol , good on Jake. I thought of him when I did the doggie posting late last night. Hope you do read it because I know the lab will make you laugh. I can imagine you eating breakfast outside. xxxxxx

Breakfast outside sounds good. I enjoyed the smiles for the day. Helen
I love the pics.....sounds like Jake had a great day at the lake. We just returned from taking Buddy and Maddie to our new doggie park. Hot but enjoyable. I love that word: fiddly. Never heard it before! Love, lisa
He's such a fine looking dog your Jake - stands out a mile compared with all those other dogs! Excellent photos of the show though. And that new lead you've got for Jake sounds wonderful - just the thing to make life easier for your bad arm!

Hi Sandra, love the pix - Sam never stays in once place long enuff to get a decent photo. Today was definitely an error of judgement on my part, will definitely take harness in future! Nice day all the same. Know Runnymede well, Dad used to take me there a lot as a child to the RAF memorial. What part of Northampton? Am currently working at the old St. Crispins!
The dog show photos look great. Glad you had a good outing with your family. Also enjoyed the "smiles of the day"

I know labs really enjoy water...I had a friend with one that did the same as you...taking them to swim. Jake looks so relaxed. Sounds like things are almost ready for the new arrival too.
