A BLUSTERY DAY

Hello everyone......

I made the above collage from photos freely available on the net.  Several of you remarked on the Strand on the Green so I thought I`d see what I could find.   And would you believe the pub in the background, The Bulls Head, is the one where we went for our dinner last Friday, although the weather was much better then.  The two benches shown are the ones where we were sitting too.  The others show some of the pretty riverside houses dotted along the walkway, the main road of Strand and the river there by night.  For anyone who has been to London, you would have to admit this place is more like a quiet village,  not a suburb of our capiral city with all it`s hustle and bustle.  There are only two downsides of living there from what I can tell.  If you live to close to the river, there is the everpresent danger of flooding, leading to huge insurance premiums.  And secondly, the property there costs a fortune so you have to be pretty well off to live there in the first place!

It`s still raining steadily here, hopefully filling up our reservoirs, but according to our newspapers, no it`s not, we need a great deal more for that to happen.  But, in the north of the country they are awash with the stuff.  People are now calling for a national grid so water will be shared out equally.  We can never cope with weather in this country, we just don`t know how to deal with extremes.  It`s so obvious our climate is changing and are the authorities ready for it....that`ll be the day!

It`s also pretty cool at the moment and Jim and I both felt it this morning when we took the dogs out.  We went to the back field and it was really chilly there.  When we got home we were cold and wet, with two very damp dogs to dry off.  I remarked to Jim that the rain had made my hair go frizzy and he replied that I`m lucky to have hair to go frizzy, as he doesn`t have that problem!

At the moment I have Kerry sleeping on our sofa.  I took her shopping for a few bits and pieces and when we got home she said she`d like a little cat nap.  That was an hour ago, she`s very tired so I`ll leave her until she wakes of her own accord.  At least she`ll be rested because she didn`t sleep a wink last night. Not long to go now!

Thats me done for today, I won`t be around much romorrow as I have avery busy day, but enjoy the rest of today and look after yourselves.

BLONDE ON BLONDES

"How come you`re late?" asks the barman as the blonde waitress walks in the door.

"It was awful," she explains.  "I was walking down the street and there was a terrible accident.  A man had been thrown from his car and was lying in the middle of the road.  He had a broken leg and fractured skull and there was blood everywhere.  Thank goodness I took that first-aid course and all my training came back to me in a minute."

"What did you do?" asks the barman.

"I sat down and put my head between my knees to keep me from fainting!"

ONE SMART PUPPY

A local business was looking for office help.  They put a sign in the window stating the following:  "Help Wanted.  Must be able to type, must be good with a computer, and must be bilingual.  We are an Equal Oppurtunities Employer."

A short time afterwards, a dog trotted up to the window, saw the sign and went inside.  He looked at the receptionist and wagged his tail, then walked over to the sign, looked at it and whined.

Getting the idea, the receptionist got the office manager who looked at the dog and was surprised to say the least.  However the dog looked determined, so he lead him into the office.  Inside, the dog jumped up on a chair and stared at the manager.

The manager sais, "I can`t hire you.  The sign says you have to be able to type."  The dog jumped down, went to the typewriter and proceeded to type out a perfect letter.  He took out the letter and gave it to the manager then jumped back on the chair.  The manager was stunned but then told the dog, "The sign says you have to be good with a computer."

The dog went to the computer and proceeded to enter and execute a perfect program that worked flawlessly the first time.  By this time the manager was totally dumbfounded.

He looked at the dog and said, "I realise that you are a very intelligent dog and have some interesting abilities, but I still can`t give you a job."

The dog jumped down and went to a copy of the sign and put his paw on the sentence about being an Equal Opportunities Employer.

The manager said, "Yes, but the sign also says you must be bilingual."  The dog looked at the manager and calmly said, "Meow!"

Nice and chilly here, but no rain, yet!
Lol at you and Jim, my hair always frizzes in the rain, and my hubby would have made a comment similar to Jim's :o)
Hope Kerry feels refreshed after her little nap, it must make things a little easier for her now that the weather has cooled.

Enjoyed reading your entry Sandra.  The largest pollution problem is from our methods of generating electricity, with cars being second.  What will the future be like?  Your photo with photo inserts is a very professional compostion, and I found your journal entry very interesting.   The jokes are very good.  lol   Best wishes to your family.    mark

Loved you photo layout. Glad you have finally got some relief from the drought and hot weather. That nap should make Kerry feel much better as she isn't getting much sleep now. Loved the jokes. Helen

Like the photos Sandra and the way you have put them together. Not much rain here but it has been so cold today we actually put the heating on low and so dark I have had the lights on.  Poor Kerry, she must be tired.  Understand about tomorrow, when we are busy journals have to take a back seat. Big hugs xxxxx

What a wonderful place that pub is in - looks so idyllic and peaceful! Still waiting for some proper rain down here! We had a bit of Scotch mist now and then over the last couple of days - but nothing that lasted. I laughed at Jim's remark - you're lucky to have any hair to go frizzy. I have the same problem as him!

Thanks for showing those pics.  That reminds me so much of the San Antonio, Texas, RIVERWALK.  The river is not that big though, but the sidewalk cafes there and the walkways are so nice.
Well, I will be waiting to hear from Kerry.  I know it won't be too long now right?
