Hello everyone, this might as well be me today. I had just 5 hrs sleep last night and I must have woken up at least 4 times, one of which was caused by a painful attack of cramp which sent me crashing out of bed like a woman possessed ! It was so painful and my leg is still sore from it now. When I finally woke up at 7.30, I should have realised that this was a day when I should have stayed in bed.
I had a headache, nothing serious, just one of those little " it`ll get better as the day goes on" kind of headaches....... WRONG... it didn`t get better, just worse and worse until I had to take some paracetamol, by which time it was too late and they didn`t help at all! Back in time to this morning. Jim went to Tesco`s for the weekly shop at about 8am, I carried on with loading the dishwasher and cleaning the kitchen when there was a loud bang on our unopenable front door. I went round to the side door with Jake close by and took a look outside and there stood an angry looking man who was still banging on the door. He came toward me and immediately Jake shot outside the door , barring the man`s way, making him jump back. The man didn`t speak English and wanted a man with another foriegn name. I told him that nobody with that name lived here and he went to walk away. I think he wanted to say something else, but then he turned round and thought better of it as Jake was standing there, as still as a statue, watching him intently. Jake didn`t move until the man was out of our driveway completely and then, and only then did he come back in the house. The man had scared me a little but I think now I know that Jake would protect me, he has never been like that before, as usually even if he hasn`t met someone before he goes straight up to them wagging his tail and treats them like old friends! As for the man I think he is one of the Eastern Europeans cigarette sellers. They smuggle in cheap cigarettes from China, ( they are very nasty things, with high arsenic levels) they then go on to sell them and make huge profits. It is said people have accounts with them and they don`t always pay their bills. Maybe this man was looking to collect money owed.
The weather has been cold and wet again...surprise !!! The ground is now waterlogged and I just hope the plants won`t drown. Though we have been promised hosepipe bans for later in the year if there`s not more rain...WHY?? I just wish it would get warmer soon. It`s time we had the central off not on, summer duvets on not off, but it`s just too cold, and it`s nearly May too. Global warming ...where? Not here that`s for sure!
Anyway I still have the headache, though it`s just a fuzzy little irritation now. I just hope I`m not getting a cold as I`ve been sneezing a bit more than usual lately and I`ve got away without one for a long time now. Bye for now, enjoy what`s left of your Thursday. I for one am going to watch "Footballer`s Wives" and will enjoy every ridiculous moment of it! :-)

sorry about the headache and bad night, are you talking about a leg cramp?? if so keep well hydrated, if it happens again, flex your foot on the affected leg, upward slowly , this will stretch that mucle cramp out, I know the pain is awful, but you have to stay calm and flex the foot , i get them in my back sometimes if I turn the wrong way!eeks! the pain!! I whimper and hubby rubs it out for me , hope your day ends better than it started!

I'm gonna watch footballer's wives!! It's crap but good isn't it lol.......
I usually just stand on that leg (the one with cramp in it) as soon as (or until you can face getting out of bed and putting the leg straight) it happens. It doesn't cure it coz I can usually feel a twinge all day but it helps in the meantime!! In the journal flower garden mines next to yours :-) isn't that nice?
Sometimes the cramp at night like that is caused by your foot dropping while you are asleep. I used to get them all the time
I started putting a pillow at the foot of my bed. I did not put my feet on top of pillow I would put it up against it. I also would take an asprin every night before bed. Leg cramps are also a sign of low potassium.
Sandra, i often have cramps like that too....and it was scary reading about that man coming to the door but Jake is such a good dog....he will protect you. I hope your headache goes away...i have such a terrible cold right now..i hope you dont get one! Love, lisa
I get cramp too but my old remedy doesn't work these days. When I was pregnant (and young) I used to get terrible cramp in the night. In those days we had "lino" on the floors instead of warm comfy fitted carpets. The secret remedy for cramp is cold lino (or linoleum if you want to be posh about it). Get Hubby to roll you out of bed and stand you up on cold lino. It used to work every time. Take care, keep laughing.

Well done Jake! Sounds as though he acted perfectly in that situation - what a very unpleasant visitor to have, first thing in the morning! Hope the headache eases soon. That's such a nasty thing to put up with all day - poor you.
David.
Good old Jake. You are always going to feel safe with him around. Sounds a nasty character. We had a man here today trying to give us a telly!!! He would not believe we had not ordered it. The door number agreed but he would not believe that we were not Mr. and Mrs. so and so. Mike called out to me "have you ordered a telly without telling me"!!!!! So, we could have had an extra one lol!!!! Garden not waterlogged here and thinks are looking nice and green. Watched Question Time tonight and was very impressed with Kennedy. I think he is the nearest we have had to an honest politician in a long time. xxxxx
Wow, I don't think I'd answer the door if someone knocked on it that loudly!! But then I don't have a Jake to protect me, must have been worrying though. I don't know how you'd prevent leg cramps, but a couple of nurofen would maybe have done the trick with the headache. Hope you're not coming down with anything my dear! Enjoying these facts you've been posting Sandra, ewww at the horned toad one though!!

Cramps...oh I hate those, especially when they wake me up in the middle of the night. I used to get them in my calves, but lately I get them in my foot. It's weird and it hurts sooooo bad. My big toe just sticks straight up and I can't get it to relax. Did I say it hurts. It hurts.
That visitor you had was a real scare. Good thing for Jake. Lab's are so sweet tempered, but I do believe they would protect someone if necessary.
We've had lots of sun, but it's suddenly cooling down now. We'll see where this goes.
Sorry to hear your headache is still bothering you. Pain, of any kind, just zaps our energy so much. I do hope you get to feeling better, soon.
Take care,
~Dona
How scary for you..my goodness!! so glad this man just went away without further incident. As for the crampings, I've heard taking additional Potassium helps...don't know how true it is? Hope you have a good nights sleep tonight
Robyn :)
Hope you are better soon. I just had my 5 hours sleep and wide awake...but luckily no headache. I do have a dry cough though. I think that is what woke me up. Scary, those strangers coming around. Glad you had a protector.
