As Old As You Feel!

Hello Everyone,

I want to start this entry by asking you all to visit Jeannette`s journal to wish her luck for her cancer surgery tomorrow morning. If you haven`t already, please visit and say a few comforting words, thanks a lot.

I`ve had a very busy week at work and I`m totally worn out. Of course it`s nothing to do with the fact that I`m 55 at the end of this month...lol!  I don`t FEEL 55, well my mind doesn`t and I`m not even sure I look it, but my goodness my body certainly does.  I`ve got pains where I didn`t even know I had places...lol! My back is killing me, as is the arthritis in my hands, not helped of course by my gardening all afternoon after work. I bought some plants and I wanted to get them planted today, though I still have three more to go in AND another two or three to be moved around. I have all these plans but not as much energy as I`d like...sigh.  I did do really well with my discount from work,  enabling me to buy the very best plants with less than I hoped to spend and you know me, I love a good bargain and what`s more I can buy some more plants next week!

I`ve been working outside apart from today and with the gorgeous weather of late it`s been the perfect job, now that the weather is getting quite cool again so I`m glad to be working back indoors from Monday. I know I said I didn`t mind the cold but that`s easy to say when it`s warm and sunny, tomorrow I`m outside again so I soon find out what it`s like when it`s cooler. I do hope the false Spring is soon followed by the real thing, my poor flowers don`t look the same with the sun shining on them.

Yesterday I went to Windsor with Kerry and Roman and I had a bit of a spending spree, well not exactly a spree but I did buy a new top from Next. Next week Jim and I are visiting his sister in Kent for the weekend and I wanted something new , not that I need an excuse to buy something but it helps ...lol! I bought Roman a kiddie`s broom from the Early Learning Centre because he likes to help out in the garden. Usually he uses my hand brush but now he has his very own, yesterday he tried to sweep the carpet in the living room...lol!

Anyway, I`m going to have a cup of tea and try to wake myself up. Enjoy the rest of your Thursday and take care.

Daily Reflections

" Just as a flower which seems beautiful and has colour but no perfume, so are the fruitless words of the man who speaks them but does them not."

Yes gardening does tell on the body as we get older Sandra but I agree with your title "you are as old as you feel" working outside in cold weather will only tell later as well.I have found that out already.Been over to Jeannette and I am praying hard she gets well soon.Whats new to treating yourself. You desrve to you work and also look after Roman and that is harder than working at times.Next time Roman is sweeping send us a picture please.OH! I do laugh when you tell us these tales.I needed cheering this evening.I got bad news last night.I lost my friend and neighbour back home,of 31 yrs last night. She lost her fight with cancer 58yrs old.I wasn't going to comment today, but I felt people in J/Land need our comments and support and prayers right now,so I am just catching up, to try  take my mind off things.Take care God Bless.

Sorry I haven't been around lately. No real excuse, except I've gotten behind on my alerts!  We're having some spring weather here in Texas after several dreary days of rain...very nice for here. Sounds like you've been keeping very busy, as usual.  I hope you have another warm up. LOL at Roman sweeping the carpet.
I don't know Jeannette, but I have seen her name in many journals and I've been by hers to offer up my support, well wishes & prayers. Bless her.
Take care (and NO...you DON'T look like you're going to be 55!!)
Hugs, Barb

Lucky you - all those lovely plants,  I bet your garden is a picture, or will be soon.  We've still got night-time frosts up here so we'll be hanging fire with any planting til about May.  Oh, and no you don't look 55.  I've seen the photos - you look more like Roman's mum than his nan! love, Angie x

I have to laugh, your buying plants where you work, sounds like me buying books at the book store I work in.  I love buying clothes, glad you found something you like.  My thoughts and prayers will be with Jennette tomorrow.  Have a fun weekend.  Joni

Oh Sandra, it sounds like you need to go for a good massage.  I know I'm ready for one.  Then I'm going to come home and have a cup of tea.   You're not old but I imagine you're on your feet all day at work, lifting, bending, stooping and lifting again.  And just being nice to sometimes rude people can be tiring in itself.  Take care and go have that massage...Linda in Washington

I visited Jeannette yesterday, I do hope she'll be OK in hospital, I know she hates them. I'm 57 this year and my body keeps reminding me, I think I've grown new parts just to ache! Lol! Mentally I feel young but my body says no! I wonder how old we'd feel if we didn't know how old we were in the first place?! Have a good weekend! I was pleased to find that you are able to get out into the garden again.  Here, in South Yorkshire, I have already felt the need to cut the lawn and, although I say so myself, the grass is now looking good.

My prayers have been sent directly to Jeannette...wishing her love, and a speedy recovery.  You are right, you are as old as you feel.  Right now, I can relate to all you said.  Sounds like a fun shopping trip for all...I need one of those days...have a great weekend...hugs and love,

Good for you getting some new plants and putting them in .Glad you have a helper to brush your garden and carpet !!!!.......Love Jeanxx

I've sent prayers and Reiki to Jeanette.  I am wondering how her surgery went today.  Is it done as an outpatient over here?  I can't imagine going straight home after that procedure!  Getting old sure beats the alternative!

Love,
Susie

Sandra hon, you need to tell me your secret. If the pictures I've seen of you are you going on 55......damn you are definately doing something right. Listening to you talk about gardening has me yearning for my own. But with the newest snow storm that isn't going to happen anytime soon. (Hugs) Indigo

Hi Sandra, catching up here.  First let me say you do NOT look like you are 55!  You look younger. What's the secret?  I think it's the fresh English air??
So cute on Roman wanting to help sweep. Enjoy that while it lasts. LOL!
