In Two Minds

Hello Everyone,

Today I have very mixed feelings about what to write. As most of you know my dear friend Jeannette has been diagnosed with breast cancer and I`m really sad for her. I know though that she`ll beat this cursed disease but I feel angry that it has happened. If you haven`t done so already, please go over to her journal and give her your support, it will be very much appreciated...thank you. Then I heard that our dear friend Sugar has also been diagnosed with cancer but a different form from Jeannette, my goodness why has this happened to two of the nicest women here in J-Land? Whatever the reason God is in their respective corners and will come out fighting for them both. I`ve also copied the two graphics that were made for Sugar and Jeannette and added them to my sidebar with links to both of their journals, they would both very much appreciate it if you would do the same to support these lovely ladies who mean so much to us all.

I`ve had a rather nice but busy week. I`ve still not had my blood test for thyroid malfunction but I have an appointment for Monday afternoon, but before that I have a dental appointment for a tooth that is bothering me.  At least I can get both things out of the way in one day as the two surgeries are almost next door to each other.

I`ve been doing some gardening this week and have pruned all of the shrubs and roses in the garden. It was hard work but the results show that it was worth it. I`ve cut the jasmine back really hard and I`m sure it will look better than ever this year. The roses, especially the Laura Ford are looking really good and I have high hopes for them as well. I wanted to plant my Valentine`s day rose but it can wait for another day, there`s a lot of weeding to be done first :o( The magnolia tree is blossoming and it looks lovely when the birds are twittering about with their suitors, the tree is fast becoming a lovers meeting place as well as a feeding area, though I do wish my solitary little chaffinch would bring along a lady friend, he must feel quite lonely with all the other birds and their girlfriends all around him...lol!

Today Jim started stripping the wallpaper from the living room walls with the help of Danny while Salina read the paper and I vaccuumed the bedrooms, not for me all that decorating stuff.  I used to do it before I met Jim and even though I CAN do a pretty good job of it I really don`t want to anymore, leave it to the men is what I say and let me choose the wallpaper and the curtains...lol!  Salina told me of her stay in Bangladesh and her relief to get back home again, she said it was nice to see her grandmother again but it was far too hot for her and her family and a bit of a culture shock. She also told me of the extreme poverty of many of the people there. They are either very rich or very poor, there is no middle ground for any of them and it was very sad to see. Her family are the lucky ones who are educated and well off but for many people education is to expensive and they have to work the land from a very early age. What she told me really opened my eyes to some of the things that happen in this world...sigh.

Well my friends I`ll say goodbye now, I hope you all have a very enjoyable weekend and I leave you with todays reflection.

"The perfume of the flowers goes not against the wind, nor even the perfume of sandlewood, of rosebay, or of jasmine; but the perfume of virtue travels against the wind and reaches unto the ends of the world."

Yes Sandra it was very sad news we all got his week on Sugar and Jeannette.I have already put my graphics and links in my journal earlier this evening, also thanked Chris for taking time out to make the graphics, and Zoe for this wonderful idea she came up with.I hope your test results are good re:- thyroid and your tooth problem doesn't give you too much trouble this week/end before you can attend your appointment.I Miss the pruning etc you mention and yes garden maintenance is a very long hard labourous job,but the hard work is all worth it in the end.I agree let the men do the decor and us choose the nice pieces. Many places have so much poverty which shouldn't be in the world today but afraid this is true and so heartbreaking.Take care have a lovely Sunday if possible.

Sorry to hear about Sugar and Jeannette having cancer. One of my cousins was taken from us a month ago to the dreaded cancer. She was only 45 and riddled with it.Life seems so unfair that the good people get bad things and the bad get all the good. All we can do is pray for Sugar and Jeannette.Good luck on monday with your appointments.Glad the roses are looking good.Spring is just around the corner though winter is doing it's best to hang on till the end lol.Been a bit chilly today.Have a great weekend my dear freind and keep up the good Journalling.

I've gone by to visit both of our dear friends and continue to keep them in my prayers on the smoke. I wish them both the courage and strength they need to get through this. I wish it was warm enough here to work in my garden. There is rain today instead of snow, so perhaps I can dream Spring will be around the corner soon.(Hugs) Indigo

Have visited both ladies, Sandra. There is no rhyme or reason to who gets affected by cancer. It's luck of the draw, I suspect. Have a nice weekend.

Hi Sandra - Keith has been in the gaden today  doing some serious lopping of the climbing roses.  The poor things were already startng to bud, far too early.  He had to lop them anyway because they would have been really wild,  Just have to hope we get some roses this year.  Haven't yet copied Janette & Sugar's graphics but they are still there in my heart. Hi Sandra,  I love your name graphic, very pretty.  I too am so sad about Jeannette & Sugar.  Can't get them off my mind.  They are both fighters and I know they will have good outcomes.   We are blessed with the medical knowledge and expertise that's available to us today.   Linda in rainy Washington state

I will be putting the links into my sidebar later today hopefully....depends if I drink too much at Angela and Brians (Brians birthday yesterday) lol!!! My Jasmine died, unfortunately, it was so pretty but Rob was glad as it was outside his music room window and found the scent too heady for him; my magnolia is still in bud but my weeping willow is full of catkins!! Enjoy the rest of the weekend, love Joan

Sitting back and not doing any of the decorating sounds wonderful.

I envy you in the garden for, although last year's efforts proved fruitful, there is lots to do in our garden this year but, so far, the soil is still too heavy to start much of the digging that is needed.

Mind you, we have done very well because, when we moved here just over 12 months ago, there was so much over growth that we had to fight our way into the garden.

When we get the garden to our liking, I will post a photo on my blog.

I am making a video journal of the garden, as we progress through the season, and when it is fiished I am going to put it ond a DVD to send to my sister in Australia.

Please keep the information, espcially about your garden, coming for I learn so much from the information I receive and I need as much information as I can get due to being a novice gardener.

By for now,

John.

It's so sad that Jeannette and Sugar have both got cancer, I hope our prayers will work for them. It's surprising how we take our standard of living for granted, I've been to so many places and seen so much povertyall over the world. I hope Jim get's the paper stripped, I used to love stripping wallpaper! Have a good week. Jeannette xx  http://journals.aol.co.uk/jlocorriere05/Welcometomytravels/

That is really sad news about Sugar and Jeannette.  They are definitely in my prayers as well.  And I have done some gardening and pruning and such myself this week.  It's a lot of work, that's for sure but I think we are going to have a beautiful spring this year and I simply cannot wait for the flowers! : )  Many well wishes for your blood test and the pesky tooth. : )  Love, Shelly

Hi Sandra.  Hope you are doing well.  I hate to hear about the cancer being diagnosed.  We have way too much of it in our society.
Take care and have a good week.  Gardening sounds fun.  We have too many freezing nights here still to get into it.  Another month and we'll be set though.

Hi Sandra!  I'm sending Reiki to Jeanette to help her cope with this viscious disease.  I lost my high school best friend to breast cancer.  So emotionally, this really hits home.  I really enjoyed reading about your work in your garden.  I'll take an early spring any day!  E was just mentioning this morning how some of our yobs would do well to spend a month in a place like Bangladesh rather than the slap on the wrist they get now.  By now you've had your blood test.  I hope all went well.  Dentists . . . . eeeeooowwwww!

Love,
Susie
