The storm approaches.
Hello everybody,
Welcome to a stormy Sunday afternoon. I`ve been very busy at home again today. After doing a pile of the dreaded ironing I decided to clean the windows (inside only for today) and take down the heavy curtains. At the moment I`ve managed to wash three pairs with another swishing around in the washing machine. I`ve hung a new pair in the computer room, a pair that I`d forgotten I had. I bought them about two years ago for my bedroom but they weren`t wide enough, I couldn`t take them back to the shop because I`d cut the drawstrings so I put them away in the linen cupboard. I did however buy a pair the same for my room, wider this time though. I came across the unused pair by chance when looking for curtain hooks and thought they`d be ideal. I was right because they fit the window perfectly and look much better than the old pair.
The old badger sett, the Shetland pony. Jake at play and stalking another dog.
This afternoon we went to Upton Park to walk Jake. When we left home it was bright, sunny and warm. When we got there the clouds overhead started to darken and look rather threatening. Despite this we set off on our walk, taking the long route to avoid an illegal travellers camp that had taken up residence. There was definitely a shortage of dog walkers there but that always happens when the travellers come visiting. I`d taken my camera as you can see and I tried to get some photos of the model aircraft club that fly their planes on a weekend. Unfortunately we didn`t get close enough to get a decent shot of them which was a shame because they are quite something to watch. The Shetland pony in the photo has only been housed in the park for a couple of months. It does have adequate shelter but it really doesn`t look ideal. There is no grass for it to graze on and there are high fences all around apart from the place where I took the photo. He seems a lovely natured chap but he must be really bored being shut in there with no distractions or nowhere to play and no companion. I have no idea who the owner could be but obviously the RSPCA know about it because it`s in a public park but I`M not happy about it I can tell you. I felt like taking him home with me!
On the way home we saw an accident just after it happened. A car had ploughed into a a pelican crossing on the side of the road and had injured a man. Luckily for the injured man he couldn`t have been on the pavement or he would have been crushed against the crossing post. He was sitting down obviously in pain but conscious, it looked as though he had leg injuries, I really hope they are not too severe. The paramedics had just arrived and the police were interviewing what looked like the driver of the car. I expect it will make the news in the local paper so I`ll let you know exactly happened once I find out.
Once we got home the rain came down and the storm broke. There was thunder and lightening and torrential rain for about half an hour. I swear the grass looks greener after the deluge. We`ve decided which of the three wallpaper samples we like the best but we will still have another look before we buy, we don`t want to get it wrong like the last time we decorated the hall. I don`t know what was going through our minds when we bought it. I suppose it`s like they say, it seemed a good idea at the time. It was a sort of orangy colour, all right I know it sounds awful, it was, what more can I say...lol!
I must disappear now as my washing machine has stopped. I`ve had enough of curtains for one day so I`ll fold them up and leave them in the washing basket until tomorrow when hopefully it will be dry and breezy and I`ll get them all dry and ready to re-hang. I hope you all have a nice Sunday evening. Take care and Bye Bye for now. :o)

Don't you dare kidnap that pony and take him home!! I feel so sorry for animals who aren't provided with proper living quarters or a place to exercise. I think that storm you had has just arrived here! The skies are darkening and the wind is howling. We had a wonderful warm sunny day today, I knew it wouldn't last. I must get my curtains down and washed, you're making me feel guilty! Have a good week. Jeannette xxxx
Those clouds look ominous Sandra ~ but lovely pictures ~ you have been busy with washing and ironing ~ window cleaning ~ you put me to shame ~ Hope that little Shetland pony is OK and Jake looks like he is having a wonderful time ~ Hope that injured man wasn't too badly hurt ~ Glad you missed that storm ~ hope the weather is good enough to dry your curtains tomorrow ~ Ally

How did you do that ? The picture collage...vey clever. Dark stormy skies for sure. I managed to get thru the weekend with out ironing...not that I don't have some to do..I just didn't do it. I did however get thru the two weeks of mail piled on my dining room table..that was a great accomplishment. Jake looks like a happy dog.... Linda in Washington
The storm never actually reached us although the sky was as dark as the crack of doom and we did get torrential rain in the evening and throughout most of the night. I feel sorry for that pony ~ he needs company even if it is a goat or something and not having any grass to chomp on. Wonder if you can get something done? Great pictures all round. Hugs

It is finally getting warm enough to be outside in a T-shirt and work on Salty's pen. He will be able to run around in it as I bought 150 feet of wire fencing. There is a Mulberry bush in the center and plenty of shade for him to be in. I have been told that it is only me having problems with the photos missing the lower portions on the entry. I have dial-up, so I don't know what to do. I saw the back of the Pony and some of the other photos; most of the clouds and storm. mark
I have two new entries in my journal. mark

Trying to catch up. Not enough hours in the day not that the granddaughters and son are living here. We are having so much fun. What great photos you have posted and sounds like you have been busy yourself. Hope this has been a good week. Give Jake a scratch from me and a woof from Jake and Frodo.
