Hello everyone,
I hope you are all having a restful day. It`s been a very quiet day with it being Good Friday. Even the High Street, with it`s many shops that opened today, didn`t seem to have that many customers this morning and I wonder why any of them opened at all. I mean Easter is the most most important date on the Christian calender and at one time there were no shops open at all over the Easter period, apart from Saturday of course. I must be getting old because I was thinking just how much things have changed since I was a child. There was always the emphasis on the religious side of holidays such as Easter and Christmas, which of course made them all the more special for children and adults alike, whether they were religious or not. At school we had lessons in religious studies and learnt the true meanings of why Easter and Christmas are celebrated. I wonder how many children are taught that today? I`m not really religious myself, more spiritual and even my Easter journal entries are more Easter bunny than anything else but I just think that more children should know that the true meaning of Easter isn`t about chocolate eggs. Oh dear...I`m rambling on again...sigh!
Going back to this morning (I seem to have strayed miles from the subject!), we only went out to meet Kerry and Slava for coffee...I`m doing it again...lol! It was nice to walk around the town with just a handful of people going about their business. We bumped into Kerry and Slava earlier than usual so we went to Marks and Sparks for our coffee. The lady who works there L, a lovely woman who has seen Roman since he was a tiny baby, said to Jim she couldn`t believe how he has grown. Roman really likes her too as I`m sure he is used to seeing her every week. He certainly does like the ladies, all ladies and of all ages too. He never has been too bothered about men so I think it`s because they always make a fuss of him...typical male...lol! It was nice to sit, drink a really good cappuchino, eat a hot cross bun on the comfy leather seats. Usually it`s so busy that we have to sit on the wooden chairs but today we got lucky!
This morning it was pouring with rain, a very usual thing for Good Friday and I thought it was going to continue for the rest of the day. Thankfully by lunchtime it had cleared away leaving us with a beautiful sunny afternoon. Of course that was my cue to get the washing done and out on the line while I have a chance of getting it dry, you never know what tomorrow will bring us weather-wise. That is one of the reasons we British are obsessed with the weather...lol!
For some reason this afternoon Jake started barking while in the garden. He never usually barks while outside unless he`s being teased the the horrible kids next door or someone is there that shouldn`t be. I went out and had a look and the kids were nowhere to be seen so it had to be the latter. His bark turned into a persistent growl and I can only think that someone had climbed next doors fence and taken a short cut to the main road. If that was the case it`s lucky they didn`t make the mistake of a young man some years ago who while trying the same thing jumped into our garden by mistake and came face to face with our rather grumpy old basset hound Rosie. Rosie was not a lover of strangers, particularly teenage male strangers and she soon made sure that the intruder went back over the fence much faster than he came in. Ensuring that he never made the same mistake again...lol! I`m sure I know what would happen were another rather lost young male to meet Jake in the same circumstances. The only difference is that Jake is not old and grumpy like our much missed Rosie. He`s young, strong and very territorial where his garden is concerned and I can assure anyone that I feel very, very safe with him around...lol!
Well that`s it for me today . I have to put some more washing outside now and prepare my evening meal. I want to get everything done before Roman arrives at 5.30. All I need do for him tonight is give him his last bottle and put him to bed..easy peasy! I hope you all enjoy the rest of your day. Take care and Bye Bye for now. :o)

Hopping by to say "HAPPY EASTER".
Blessings,
SUGAR
I agree totally about Easter. I think the shops should all be closed on Good Friday and Easter Sundy. Everything is commercial and money money money these days. It is sad that like Christmas, the true meaning of Easter is being lost. We only had drizzle here and then a bit of sun this afternoon that has now gone. Jake sounds like a very good watchdog and that is an extra benefit. Happy Easter my friend.

When I was in Tesco's on Wednesday and again my local supermarket where I used to work I have never seen so may Easter eggs in my life Monday will be interesting. Have a lovely easter Love Joan.
Hiya Sandra, unfortunately Easter nowadays has become too commercialised like Christmas.....the emphasis being on Eggs and money with only the profit going to the retailers and wholesalers!!! We are maintaining the family tradition of fish for good friday dinner, something that has never changed over the years...just the type of fish! Sam, bless him has had nothing but stress today with the dogs on either side giving grief, but that does not stop him from being protective of his territory! Enjoy the rest of the day, love Joan
Sandra wouldn't it be lovely if the shops closed at Easter and Christmas as they used to ~ Roman is a charmer and likes all the ladies ~ bless him he is a little charmer ~ glad you all caught up to have coffee at M&S ~ and had the comfort of leather seats ~ am so glad you feel safe with Jake around ~ Ally

its raining in Ohio. Its all so commercial now in America. WalMart drives that too...its all about profit and money and candy. We put out Easter in January and Halloween candy will be on our shelves by June. Roman IS getting big fast and he is SOOOOOOOOO cute! Enjoy your weekend. love, lisa jo
Must admit I hated it when everything was closed at Easter and other hols. Even as a child I hated the dreariness of Sundays and thanked the heavens when it finally became an almost normal day. Yet if asked I would call myself a Christian....though I have never felt the need to prove it by going to church etc. Oops..don't know where all that came from!! I love the bunnies and the eggs ..chocolate or painted. Happy Easter ..Eve
