Hello everyone,
Welcome to a busy Thursday here in my world. Being the day before Good Friday I got up really early to get into Tesco before the Easter rush. Even though I was there at 7.45am there were still lots of shoppers but not as many as there would have been later in the day. I got all my shopping with ease and arrived home at the same time as Jim who had been to Homebase to buy the wallpaper. We didn`t change our minds agin and bought the white paper I mentioned the other day, we both really like it and can`t wait to see the finished result. On Monday we`re going to order the hall carpet, I won`t know what I want until I see it if you know what I mean. Even colour-wise I have no idea what I want at the moment. Jim says he doesn`t care what it`s like as long as it isn`t grey like the old one. I told him he has no worries there as the new one will definitely NOT be grey or any other colour similar...is it possible to have a similar colour? Anyway, it`ll be nice I`m sure of that!
Today has been very windy and overcast. I had loads of towels that I washed last night ready to hang on the line but I thought it would rain any minute so I waited until I came back from shopping. I`d needn`t have worried because it hasn`t rained all day even though it`s looked like it would. Oh well, I`m not complaining, the washing is dry and the weather is mild and set to improve over the weekend according to the forecasters. I`m a bit annoyed with my tumble dryer though, the other night I put a load in, switched it on and the lights fused! I was NOT impressed, I can tell you. This happened about six weeks back and I was going to call out an engineer but a week later it started working again. Jim thinks a seal inside has gone and water is getting on the electrics. Well I have three years extended warranty cover so I`m going to take advantage of it and call the engineer after Easter. I can manage quite well without it but that`s not the point,it`s only just over a year old and I want it fixed!
This afternoon Kerry and I went to Staines to look around the shops which is exactly what we did , look. Neither of us had any spare cash apart from money for coffee so window shopping it was, except for some new teaspoons from Woolies, ( mine are always disappearing!) and a wedding card for Slava`s sister Julia and a birthday card for Jim. I did go to the building society and drew some cash out but the main reason I went there was to have the interest added to my savings account. I was over the moon with the amount that I got, it will pay for my new carpet and leave me with change. Seeing as I`m not working at the moment that is an excellent result.
Last night we had a bit of a drama near to our house. Jim came home at 9.30 and told me that someone had set fire to the litter bin across the green from our house. He said it was only small so he got a bucket of water and was going to put it out. When he looked again however, the fire had got much bigger and flames were shooting in the air so he rang 999 and asked for the Fire service. They told him that it had just been reported and an appliance was on its way. When they arrived the fire had taken hold of the pavement and the flames were getting even higher. It didn`t take them long to put it out though but how annoying that they had to be called out because of vandalism, some idiot who thought it was funny to set fire to the bin. For all I know they were looking on and laughing, I wouldn`t be at all surprised. Anyway, this morning I went and had a look at the damage and the pavement has melted away and the surrounding grass has been burnt too. It`s just a complete mess.
Roman had to see the doctor the other day because a patch of eczema on his tummy has infected and he`s scratching like mad, bless him. The Dr has given him antibiotics especially for skin problems and it tastes foul. Little Man has made it perfectly clear that he doesn`t like it by spitting it out so it`s a two man effort getting it down him and Kerry has been busily washing his clothes that are covered with the shocking pink stuff!
Tomorrow morning Jim and I are meeting Kerry and Slava in Marks and Sparks cafe for our usual Friday coffee, Slava calls it our family tea party and he says he feels like a guest...lol! It`s his last day before he leaves for Russia early Saturday morning and he and Kerry are going out for a meal tomorrow night. I do feel for them as I know it`s not easy parting for so long. I actually think it`s easier for Kerry because she`ll go about her everyday business of work, looking after Roman etc. For Slava though, I think it`s very different, having to leave his wife and young son behind, having to speak Russian again all the time. He has told me that it`s really strange not speaking English at all while at home. At least he`ll get time with his parents and see his friends again and possibly have time to help out with his sister`s wedding arrangements. Kerry will fly out on 6th June in time for the wedding, I`ll ask her to take some photos of the wedding and some of the sights so that I can use them on my journal.
I must go now, I`ve been rambling on a bit tonight. I hope you enjoy the rest of your day. Bye Bye for now. :o)

Just to wish you a Happy Easter and say again how much I enjoy your journal and your honesty about everyday life. I read two or three other AOL journals sometimes but in one case, at least, I find the whole thing seems artificial and reads as if it's an act. It may not be though. Good luck with the paper hanging and job hunting - but you'll be missed if you give up the journal. Linden
lOVELY GRAPHICS as usual ,Yes I'd certainly get the tumble drier checked out especially as its still in warranty ,just the carpet to get now wow its exciting isnt it ,we shall soon see the finished result of all Jims labour and you havent been idle either have you curtains ,etc ,well done ,I wonder who the false journalist is ?lol .........Jan xx
Hi! Sandra...another lovely Entry, got an Alert but not until tonight!
You always sound so Busy....I'd love new Carpet, but would have to go right through. nothing wrong with present one..just left by previous Owners.
Allan and I were only saying yesterday....how a person could be 'anyone' on Journals...and one of your 'comments' seems to be saying that?
Not seen you over at mine lately...alerts?
Aileen....X
Sounds as if you have been one busy lady. Hope Romans rash soon clears up and hope Slava has a safe trip to Russia. Helen

Thank you for such a super newsy entry really enjoyed reading it first thing on Friday morning (wainting my 15 min for a pill to take before I can have my breakfast) Your coffee morning sounds fun Stuart and do that but its just the two of us we even take the papers. Loved your bunnies and chickens I wonder if one might escape. I found out what was wrong with your alert I had switched you off I don't know how I was dong another one and I must have click you in error. Have a nice day. Love Joan.
Oh well, you may have been rambling but I sure enjoyed reading your rambles. LOL. Sounds like you all have fun over there with shopping and Friday morning coffee. Sounds good to me. Hope little Roman takes his medicine and clears his skin issue. I can see his little face now making a funny face over the medicine - he he. I know he brings you all such joy. Glad that Kerry gets to go to Slava in June. I'm sure that is b/c of the passport issue that delayed things. The time will go buy fast for them I'm sure but I know they will miss one another.
Happy Easter to you. And I thank you for that nice Lawson card. It was cute.
Take care.
Sonya
What idiots to set fire to that bin ~ and how quickly the fire took hold ~ Pity there wern't some cameras about to record who had set fire to it ~ Hope Romas eczema had cleared up ~ wouldn't you think they would give children pleasant tasting medicine ~ can understand him spiting it out ~ Hope every thing goes well for Slava ~ and he enjoys his time back in Russia ~ Ally
Lucky you getting all that interest...wish my savings earned a decent amount!! Enjoy your family tea party :o) You and Kerry should get a discount from M&S for all the business you give them!!
Gill xx
Wow, wish we had interest that made us so happy. All we do is struggle, but that's life. Poor Slava having to be away from his family for such a long time and having to miss out on Roman's developing but I know that time will pass quickly and they can have a great re-union. Glad you had a good time shopping. That fire could have been nasty, especially if it had not been spotted so quickly. There are some real idiots about. Happy Easter to you and yours my friend.
