A Quiet Easter Saturday

Hello everyone,

Welcome to a rather dull Saturday afternoon with not very much happening.  The weather hasn`t turned out sunny as forecast but very overcast.  It`s not cold however and I hope my washing will dry by this evening.  All I`ve really done all day is my usual housework and not much else, apart from a walk around my rather sad looking garden in the hope that some more flowers were about to bloom.  One of the Clematis has flower buds on it,  which is quite lucky for it because last year it gave a really poor showing and I`d decided to dig it.  It must have known because I think it`s going to look really nice once the buds have opened...lol!  I have three azaleas and one of those has died, and also a dwarf rhodedendren (?) .  My daffs have still not come up and so I`ll dig up a couple of the bulbs and see what shape they`re in.  I`ll bet the lot of them will have to be thrown away.  Tomorrow afternoon, weather permitting I`ll do some more weeding and pruning, it shouldn`t take too long with the ground being wet.

I rang Kerry to ask if Slava had got to the airport on time.  They arrived they at 7.15am but Slava told Kerry not to go into the terminal with him.  I think it was probably because it was easier than a tearful farewell. Kerry said she and Roman went back to bed when they got home as it had been such an early morning for them. Slava also said he was glad Roman was too small to be upset at him going away even though he is going to miss his little boy very much.  How he will have changed when he sees him again. Slava has a split flight which means he has to change to another plane in Amsterdam which is ok for him as he`s travelling alone.  Kerry`s flight in June is direct to St. Petersberg as it would be to difficult with Roman.  As it is she is planning her passage through Customs like a military operation to make her travel as pain-free as possible.

Oh I forgot,  Jake has been coming in from the garden quite often of late with mud on his nose.  All I`ve ever done is wash it off and not give it another though as there`s been no sign of him digging.  This morning however, I saw him with his snout under our garden shed and know I know where the mud is coming from.  The thing is what`s under there?  I have no intention of looking myself in case there`s a rat!  But Jim is at work so tomorrow morning I`m going to ask him to get the torch and see what lies beneath.  It could be hedgehogs, we`ve had them in the past, but like I said I`ll leave it to Jim...just in case!

Tonight as planned Kerry will stay the night with us, she thought it was a good idea as it would mean not disturbing Roman when she returned from work at 11pm.  It will seem strange having her living at home again after all these years but she`ll stay at the flat during the day and on her days off.  I must admit to quite looking forward to her stay, I won`t tell her that though!  We`re having the family over for dinner on Monday despite Kerry having to work in the evening.  I`m getting used to having Danny around more than usual and I really like cooking for them all.  Kerry has always been not far away since she was married but Danny only appeared now and again, especially while he was living and working in Leeds.  Things are certainly looking up with my little family.  Anyway my friends, I will leave you now.  I hope you enjoy the rest of your day.  Take care and Bye Bye for now. :o))

Poor Slava, he is going to miss them so much but it is nice that Kerry will be staying with you tonight.  Have not ventured into the garden, had drizzle and mist all day and it is soaking wet out there, I am not going to catch a chill or start off aches and pains.  Certainly sounds as if there is something under your shed, most probably hedgehogs because they love to hibernate under sheds, let us hope it is not the other things.  On the other hand, could he have lost a toy under there and be trying to get it back?

Wishing you a good Easter and best wishes for Slava on his trip to Russia.    As you know my brother's wife has taken their son several times to visit her family in Siberia.    Alex their son first learned Russian and now he speaks good English and is attending his kindergarden school.     mark

Hope Jim managed to look under the shed and find out what Jake was up too.  It's a good job he's not being a naughty boy like he has in the past.  I'm glad Slava got off ok :-)  I hope kerry and roman aren't missing him too much
