Hello everyone,
Welcome to a nice quiet Tuesday. Well quiet-ish after the busy day here yesterday. After Kerry left yesterday morning Jim and I went out to buy our carpet. As usual on a Bank Holiday there were lots of good bargains to be had so we had no trouble finding an affordable and really nice stair carpet. It`s is called Mocca, sort of a dark coffee/light chocolate colour and it`s got a deep twist pile that is guaranteed for 7 years. We were both agreed on it so I know it`s the right choice and the fitter is coming out tomorrow morning to measure up. Now for the curtains and flooring...phew, no more expense after this please...lol!
At lunch time the family descended on us for the afternoon, Danny and Salina arrived first armed with more choccies for me. Then Kerry and Roman an hour later, and what a great afternoon we had too. We all had a good chat and a laugh and the whole occasion was so nice and relaxed despite me spending a great deal of the time in the kitchen slaving over a hot stove! It was worth every minute just so I can have my family around me, mind you I don`t really mind TOO much when they all went home. Well, to tell the truth Kerry went to work, Roman went to bed and Jim took Dan and Sal home and the quiet was bliss...lol!
Dan, Sal and Little Man, they didn`t know I was taking this.

Another thing that happened yesterday was that Dan wanted something brought down from the loft so he went up there with Jim to get it. A bit later he came downstairs clutching a very old and dirty carrier bag and he was grinning from ear to ear. It was a bag of his old toys that he found while he was up there. He then sat on the kitchen floor and tipped the contents out revealing what looked to me like broken cars, alien beings, you know the kind of thing! But he sat there and patiently put them together along with their swords and various weapons and lined them up and for a moment I was watching a little boy of 10, not the man of nearly 29 that he is...for a moment I thought I was going to cry.
This morning was a very different experience for me. I attended my first Teddies Music Club with Kerry and Roman and found myself singing and clapping along with all the other Mums and little ones, not forgetting quite a few grandparents too. Roman was quite bemused by it all but he obviously enjoys it as did I. I must admit that if someone had told me a year ago that I would be sitting in a semi-circle of people with small children, singing Fru-Fru the bunny, Flopsy the Easter Bunny and a different slant on Humpty Dumpty I would have laughed and told them to forget it. I don`t sing in front of anyone especially a roomful of tinies, how things and people change for the love of a grandchild! Anyway, I must go now, I`ve journals to read and emails to reply to. Most importantly though, a grandchild to cuddle...lol! Bye Bye for now. :o)))

The baby is precious!!! What a doll!! And I'm so glad your son found his old toys. That's a treasure! Most of mine were thrown out years ago and I've wished my mother had kept them for me to be able to reminisce my childhood. Because of that, I've never gotten rid of ANY of my son's toys without his consent. Needless to say....we have LOTS in storage. But, that's ok. Maybe when my son is 29 he'll bring me back to when he was 10 like your son did.
Have a great day!
Where do I start ! lovely entry ,great pictures with the little man smiling as usual ,,so pleased you got the stair carpet you both liked ,It is nice to have them all together especially when you have moments like the one with the toys ,but as you say its good also when things go back to what poses as normal .....Jan xx
Great entry you sound as if you had a super Easter with all of your family. Looking forward to seeing pictures of your hall when it all done I am sure it will be great. Love Joan.
I agree, lovely entry and super photographs. I will say again what a handsome little man Roman is. Glad you got your carpet sorted, it sounds very nice. I can imagine the tears springing as you watched Dan sort through his old tears. Funny how in a moment, the years can just roll away in memory and imagination. I can imagine you singing alone, I would be doing the same if I could.

Stair carpet sounds nice. Know what you mean when seeing your adult son with his toys....they will always be boys no matter how old they may be especially when they have toys to play with!! Hahaha..heard about playgroups like that but have always sworn nothing would get me to one of them!! Glad you had fun. Eve
I'm 21 and I love getting all my old toys out to have a look over and remember what I used to play with them! So much fun pretending to be a child again!
Glad you had fun singing Fru-Fru The Bunny :o)

Love your little moment with Dan, what happy childhood memories those toys must have brought back for him, bet he felt like a boy of ten as much as he looked like one to you :o)

Perhaps Roman will be getting some of those toys of Dan's! That was when life was very simple and childhood seemed to last forever. mark

What a pleasant day. The little one is just incredible. Isn't it just "amazing" what we will do for them? My granddaughters got a new music DVD and we spent an hour dancing and singing...Susie's got a cow on her head, O Susanna, We are the Dinosaurs and a host of others. We laughed and cuddled. They are so good for the soul. Love your spring graphics. They're beautiful.
Have a terrific Thursday. Barb
