Hello everyone,
Welcome to a wet and windy wednesday. It`s absolutely pouring down with rain at the moment, it`s hardly stopped all day. We are certainly making up for the very dry summer we had, though they are saying we need a lot more yet to get our reservoirs full again. I was really lucky this afternoon when I noticed that the rain had almost stopped, I quickly flung my jacket on, grabbed Jake and his collar and lead and headed out before it started again. I was out for about twenty minutes and as soon as I got back indoors the heavens opened again. All I can say is that someone up there is smiling on me today!
Jim told me that walking Jake in the park this morning there were spent firework cases everywhere. We were wondering if anyone has ever been hit by one of them, it`s certainly possible as there are so many of them, last night Jim was very aware of the fact as he walked home from the garage where he keeps his car. Tonight we are due to another bombardment with the muslim celebration of Eid, but maybe the rain will put a stop to the fireworks.
I quite forgot to mention that Slava`s mum and dad will be coming here from Russia for a 10 day visit next Thursday. They have only just been granted their visas, after separate interviews that asked many probing questions. All that just for a visit to see their son here in England. I feel very sorry for them as they will only get to see Roman about once a year, when Jim and I see him nearly everyday. It will be nice to meet them though they speak no English and we speak no Russian, but I`m sure we`ll get by somehow. We are taking them to my BIL`s 60th birthday party and they will be made to feel very welcome. Also we are taking them out for a meal at the carvery, they will definitely like that!
I`m still getting used to my new hair colour, strangely this morning when I first looked in the mirror I was shocked to see someone else looking back at me. I was expecting to see a half-awake blonde looking back at me, instead I saw a half-awake brunnette, it was a bit of a shock. I will get some photos doneand I`ll ask Jim to take several at the weekend. Maybe I`ll be able to find a decent one to post!
Tomorrow it off to Tesco in the morning for the weekly shopping. I must try and stay away from the clothes dept; baby clothes especially. I keep telling myself Roman has enough of everything and then I see something I can`t resist....well, it`s always very reasonably priced and it can`t hurt to buy just one more thing! Hopefully if the weather is nicer Kerry and I will go for one of our long walks with Jake. Like I said earlier, his afternoon walk was shorter today because of the weather, but he seemed quite happy to settle down on his bed at the bottom of the stairs and go to sleep. I must remember to let him out before dark because being the scaredy-cat that he is, he won`t set foot outside at night, regardless of fireworks. He`ll only go out with Jim if he is on a lead and that is out of the question at the moment, BECAUSE of fireworks.
One more thing, and you might think it a bit odd. I will be doing my next Canadian holiday entry soon, which should be about Montreal. Well I decided not to do it as we weren`t very impressed with what we saw. We didn`t get to see that much of the city and what we did couldn`t have been all it had to offer. Consequently we don`t even have any photos worth seeing. We should really have stayed in the old town, where we`ve been told it is very beautiful and there would have been much more to see, but then we knew none of this until after we had left the city. So rather than post a very lacklustre entry, I would rather skip it and move on to Niagara Falls where we had a wonderful time and took some breathtaking photos.
I`ll now say goodbye and go and catch up with the journals. I hope you all have a very good day and much nicer weather! Take care all of you.
BRUNNETTE ON BLONDES
How can you tell if a tricycle belongs to a blonde?
It`s the one with the kickstand.
Why did the blonde take her scarf back to the shop?
It was too tight.
Did you hear about the blonde who gave her cat a bath?
She still hasn`t got the hair off of her tongue.
How does a psychic refer to a blonde?
Light reading.
Did you hear about the blonde who never learned to waterski?
She never found a lake with a slope.

O K ! You can now tell your blonde jokes with gusto !Iagree with everything you are saying about these wretched fireworks poor scoobs shakes ,when he hears them ,It must be so hard to resist all the cute little outfits for Roman ,when you go shopping.................Jan xx
It is always a shock when you look in the mirror after just doing the hair colour, I did mine black a while ago and hated it....seemed a good idea at the time! I have been barred from buying any more 1st size clothes!
Sandra, as I said before fireworks should only be used at organised displays, never sold to children, (Never sold at all if I had my way) My neighbours young lad had fireworks in his back pockets....and they caught fire while he was near a Bonfire....they put them out with an old rug....but he got Tetanus and died a few weeks laterin hospital... So fireworks are my pet hate....Dogs and cats are at risk Oh I could go on......but I'm sure a lot of people feel the same about them...Glad Jake got his walk in the dry.......Ally
OH what a pilavar slava's folks have had just to be able to come and visit him...Do hope they have a lovely time whilst they are over :o) Caff xx
How exciting that Slava's Mum and Dad are coming for a visit, I know you will all have them feeling very welcome :o) I was clothes shopping in our Tesco's earlier today, they have some lovely things don't they, and at a very reasonable price. I picked up school trousers for J for under £5! Looking forward to hair pics, and hearing all about Niagra Falls, I imagine that was really impressive :o)

Hey, at least with the rains there are no fireworks going off...that is the plus side. I am sure all will work out with Slava's parents...it always seems to work out. You sound like me, today after dropping of Little Sasha Mama at the Vets...I shopped for little Guys new clothes...shirts, jeans...etc. Came back with way too much...and I have 3 other grandkids to buy for ...this was not for Christmas either...just school clothes.
Hope all goes well with your evening...send us some of your rain...we could use more, always!
Hugs.

Hehe...I've got a good one too. A beautiful young woman went to the doctor because every time she touched herself, it hurt horribly. The doctor had her show him by test touching several different spots on her body...she screamed in agony each time. With the last touch, the doctor asked her, "You're not a real redhead are you?..." She grinned sheepishly and said, "No, I'm a blonde...how'd you guess?" The doctor said, "Your finger is broken. " ;) C. http://journals.aol.com/gdireneoe/thedailies
Glad that it's raining enough for the fireworks to stop and glad you got a break to take Jake for a walk. Hope all that will be over for a while if they don't decide to make it up another day. It's good that Slava's parents are coming over. I know they will be delighted to see little Roman. Love the graphics today. I can't wait to see your picture of Niagara falls. Helen
I'm so sorry you didn't get a chance to really explore Montreal. It's a fabulous city, old and new. I've never been to Niagra Falls, so I'll lbe intereted to read what you have to say about it.
I can relate to that feeling after you get your hair colored and it takes some time to get used to yourself. if you need to get rid of some rain I would be more than happy to take some haha!
Kara :)
I love that graphic at the top of your entry - it looks so real! Why don't we all write to our MPs and beg them to make it illegal for members of the public to buy, possess, or set off fireworks? Can't wait to see new pics of the brunette Sandra!
David.
Can't wait to see the Niagra Falls pics. I haven't been since I was a very young child. ~~Kath~~
Other people always get used to your hair colour before you because they see it all the time, you only get to see it in the mirror!! Can't wait to see Niagara Falls, I've never been there!! Jeannettexxxx. http://journals.aol.co.uk/jlocorriere05/Welcometomytravels
Oh, so you are a brunette....looking forward to the pics. I remember shocking myself in the mirror when I had the oopsie and my hair was jet black instead of dark brown.
Take care.
Sonya
