Hello everyone,
A very early entry for me today. I thought I`d explain about what went on at the airport when Nadja and Ivan went to catch their Sunday flight home.
When they arrived at the airport, it was a bit misty but not bad by any means. Just after they had checked their baggage in the flight was cancelled, along with 14 others, due to weather, not in St.Petersburg, as they first thought, but at Heathrow Airport. There were now 600 passengers from those 15 flights stranded at the airport. These poor people were told that they had to queue up to re-book their flights, so all 600 of them waited while only TWO check-in desks dealt with them in turn. 150 of those were bound for Russia. Slava stayed with them for a couple of hours but had to bring Kerry and Roman home. They stayed in contact by phone as the waiting went on and on. For Nadja and Ivan it was a nightmare because there were no Russian speaking airline staff to help them and they had to find other passengers to interpret for them. In all the FIVE hours that they were waiting, they were only offered water, no tea or coffee or anything to eat. Eventually, they called Slava who picked them up from the airport and brought them home, his Mum was quite distressed as you would imagine after going through all that without being able to communicate or being given anything to eat.
It turned out that they were offered a flight into Moscow for Sunday night but that was no good as St.Petersburg is hundreds of miles away and they would have an all night train journey on top of the flight. They were then booked on the next flight to St.Petersburg on Monday morning which DID take off, but not before being delayed. Thankfully, Slava told the check-in that he wanted assistance for his parents to make sure they got to the right departure gate, he just wanted to make sure they were going to get home safely without anymore hiccups.
I`m sure that the airport incident won`t over shadow their memories of their holiday though as they have done so much while here. As Kerry says, they have seen theirfirst grandchild for the first time, and that in itself is priceless.
Kerry say Roman is a bit grumpy and she thinks that, apart from the teething, he is missing all the attention he was getting from his Russian grandparents. Oh well, I`ll have to make up for that myself, it won`t be a hardship for me...lol!
Well that`s about it for me, I hope you all have a lovely day, and take care. Bye for now.

That is so sad not one person was there to help them communicate on the food and drink issue and the delay was awful.
I would have been livid. I am sure they are not going to let this stop them in the future from coming back to visit...I am happy Slava saw to it the second time, they had better communications.
I will have a cup of that coffee, LOL!!! Looks for good!
I hope you have a great day...poor little Roman and his teething...he will be fine once those teeth start popping in...hugs,
Joyce
What a trying day for them.....thank goodness there were other Russians who could translate for them....Have you heard if they arrived home safely ?....somehow don't think the delay will spoil their memories of their visit..Ally
Good morning Sandra, Glad Slava's parents finally got to go home. I know you will make up for the attention Roman will be missing. LOL.
I like your graphics this morning and think I will ease in the kitchen shortly and make myself a cup of that good looking coffee. Have a good day! Helen

I hope the rest of their trip goes without incident. As for Roman, I know you will be able to step in and make up for that lost attention with no problem at all. I don't know if you celebrate Thanksgiving in any way in Britain, I've been taught that is it a unique American tradition. Just know that you and your family will be in my thoughts as I give my thanks this Thursday over our Holiday meal.

Hi there,
I was ever so sad to read about your poor labrador Hanna, like you, I loved my dog but, and I believe this will stand the test of time, we were able to give them a wonderful life.
By for now,
John.
PS,
Your journal is well set out, I am very impressed.
Oh Boy! What a crazy airport day. All too common this time of year unfortunatley.

It must have been a nightmare for Slava's parents after such a great holiday. Hope they got home safely when they reached Russia. Jeannette. http://journals.aol.co.uk/jlocorriere05/Welcometomytravels
What a tiring time for them. Hope they have arrived home safely. Its fantastic they were able to come and see their first Grandson.I love that coffee graphic. . just going to make one now lol.
Do hope the airport chaos didn't put a dampner on their time over here...As you say seeing their first grandchild for first time will make up for all that hassle Caff xxx
I sure hope the airport didn't dampen their mood too much. I wouldn't want the airport to be their lasting memory of the holiday and england. Like you said at least they have the memories of seeing their first grandchild. Bless them........
