Hello everyone,
Welcome to a cold and frosty Sunday. From the moment I got out of bed I knew it was going to be one of those days. The first thing I did was to stub my little toe on the bedside table, and did I howl! I didn`t swear, though how I managed to stay so controlled is anyone`s guess. The central heating hadn`t come on so I fiddled around with the boiler and it sprung to life. While boiling the water for our early morning tea I burned my hand on the kettle, not at all badly but it did sting a bit. Things seemed to settle down for a couple of hours before the phone rang, it was Kerry telling us that Nadja and Ivan`s flight had been cancelled because of bad weather, not in Russia where there is a foot of snow on the ground, but here in England where there was some fog. Rather than delay the flight they cancelled it leaving 150 passengers stranded at the airport. There is only one flight to St.Petersburg on a Sunday, so after they had booked another flight for tomorrow, Slava had to bring them home again. The trouble is, bad visibility is forecast for tomorrow too. I do feel sorry for them as they are both due back at work tomorrow. Nadja has a very responsible job and it`s a very busy time for her company at the moment, she`ll be quite worried and being delayed.
I tackled the ironing with my brand new steam iron today. It`s really good because the sole plate is much bigger than my old one, the only thing is I think there is a leak in the water reservoir, I know I haven`t overfilled it, far from it, but I`m wondering if I`ve got a setting wrong on it, I`ll have to check as I don`t want to be blown sky high if the water gets into the electrics. THEN while putting the iron away, I banged my elbow on the door frame ( the bad one, the elbow, not the door frame...lol!) sending ice cold shock waves down my arm. My fingers now have even less feeling than usual and it will take several days to come back again. I forget that I`ve had the op but am reminded very quickly if I knock it. Apart from tripping UP the back door step nothing else has happened to me today, but then it`s only 3.34 and anything can happen. I`ll be very careful when I get up from this chair, I don`t want any more incidents or accidents...lol!
Can you guess what this is? I won`t tell you now, I`ll leave it for another time, but suffice it to say, Jim took it this morning while walking Jake. It looks as if it`s come from outer space and would be at home with ET.
Despite being so early the sun has just disappeared behind the house across the road. These shorter days seem to race by, when no sooner is the sun at it`s height than it sinks away again. Let`s hope the winter goes quickly and it will be spring again. I don`t want to wish my life away but I wish sometimes I could hibernate through this season, except for Christmas, of course, I don`t want to miss that!
I won`t ask you to guess what this is, but they do say that when the holly has lots of berries it will be a very cold winter. It has been forecast that we are in for a hard winter and I`ve not seen many berries the last few years when it has been mild...hmmm, there might be something in it then. We shall see, Jim keeps saying that it`s very cold for November.
Oh well, I`d better go now, but before I do I`d better say that the reason my journal is American, I think, is that AOL gave Jim and I .com screennames when we signed up with them, so I blame them entirely, and why not indeed...lol! Have a lovely day all of you and take care.

I hope the flight isn't cancelled again tomorrow. Why does the weather put us out like this, doesn't seem to happen in other countries! Jeannette. http://journals.aol.co.uk/jlocorriere05/Welcometomytravels/

Sandra, should you have stayed in bed this morning ? Boy I hope you make it thru the rest of your day. The holly picture is beautiful. I had holly at the last house I lived in but it didn't have berries. I guess holly can be either boy holly or girl holly. I don't know which it is that has the berries. The first picture looks like he may have laid the camera on the ground under some sort of weed or plant and set it to go off automatically. Linda
Oh Sandra! Boy did you ever have a "sore" day. I always wonder why stubbing your toe is so painful. Be carefull!!!
Kara :)
Sounds like you have certainly had one of those days!!!! I cannot understand the flight being cancelled because the weather here is not that bad, not a peasouper and not snow. It must be very worrying for them but nice they get to spend a bit of extra time here. Well, I know that is a plant that Jim took but cannot think of a name for it.
I like the winter but only if we have snow. The picture of the holly is lovely.
You have had an exhausting day of bumps and a burn. The first photo must be a small plant taken with the camera from the ground. Don't know what kind of plant thought. The holly has frost on it and makes for a great photo. Despite the airport delay, the safety of the flight has to come first. Wishing you a good week with no more upsets. mark
Sometimes if I am on too high a steam setting I leak, correction the iron leaks; mind you come to think of it I leak perspiration when I iron so perhaps I was right after all!!!
Ok heck Sandra you have had quite a bad day.Things can only get better. It wasn't Easy Jet was it that Nadja and Ivan were booked on have seen plenty of their carryons on the telly lol.Fingers crossed they manage to fly out tomorrow
Everyone has aol.com name.............. no excuses.................
Lovely as always
Last time I stubbed my toe I broke it.
You have had a bumpy stompy day haven't you. I am like a lot of other people I think Jim somehow got under a weed or flower stem to take that picture. I love the Holly with the frost. Hope the rest of the day goes better for you and thanks for sharing the pictures with us. Hope Slava's parents soon get to go home where they can go to work. Helen
Angelica?
My your poor body is getting a bruising today...toes, elbows, the bad one to boot! Tomorrow has to get better!!! I do see the problems for Slava's parents and the delay worry. Anyone working would...I pray all goes well and the flight home will be good eventually. Nope, can't say that I know what that is Jim took a picture of. But you do have me wondering. Maybe a weed, from the bottow looking up??? Have a great evening...be CAREFUL...we want you in one piece tomorrow...hehe. Not laughing at your injuries as much as the luck you had today getting them...feel better soon!!!
Hugs,
Joyce
lovely holly bush, we had one once , but it never got berries, so I pruned it to death, removing all limbs, then we just killed it off, (secretly I hated that thing!!)
~Julie
Sandra you have been in the wars, hope the elbow soon feels better......It must ba a worry for Nadja and Ivan having their flight delayed...as they should have been back at work Monday....Hope the weather clears for them tomorrow....
I think your picture is a dandilion with the seeds blown off - or the antenna of an alien....with lots of eyes and long arms....I hate these short days roll on spring and those lovely balmy days of summer....The trees that bear berries in our garden are absolutely covered in them this year...if the winter is bad there will be plenty of feed for the birds...Mistranslations are really funny.....Loved the Dressers for street walking.....Hope Jake is OK.....Ally
Stumping the little toe is sooooo painful. . . .then your elbow too. . ouch! And to burn yourself on top of all that too? Should have gone back to bed Sandra.
Hope the flights are still on for tomorrow. . they will be worried about work.
I think the photo Jim took is a dandilion clock.Hes held the camera underneath it?could be right about the holly. .its so cold already
I hope the inlaws get home safely and quickly!! How stressful it must be for them today. Sorry to hear about all your mishaps!! I hope you are ok. I hate to iron. Yuck!!
Love, lisa jo
What a day!! Stubbing your toe first thing in the morning just isn't a good sign!! I hope that Nadja and Ivan managed to get a flight today, it must be worrying when there is work to be getting back to, but there was a good point, they did get to spend an extra day with Kerry, Slava and Roman :o) Hope you got through the day without any further mishaps ;o)

Oh my what a day you are having. Hope it gets better. BE careful now. Walk slowly...LOL.
Hope a flight is made readily available for your family to get home. I know they are stressed and jobs sometimes do not understand these things.
Fog in England. LOL. I've always heard that about you guys over there. It's a wonder you get to fly anywhere!
I got rid of my iron and got a new one by the way b/c the inside casings that hold the water broke. I was afraid of electricution!!!
Take care.
Sonya
