Hello everyone,
Today I`ve been rushing around trying to get my usual Saturday jobs done plus getting everything sorted for this evening. So far, the house is clean, the washings done, Jake has been taken to our friends for the night and I am here trying to post my entry....phew!
Last night we met Slava`s parents for the first time, we were taken unawares by Kerry who called us just fifteen minutes before she was bringing Roman to us and she said that Nadja and Ivan wanted to meet us ......OMG! I wasn`t ready, the place was a mess and I was sitting around wearing a very scruffy pair of jogging trousers. I ran and changed into and pair of jeans and then loaded the dishwasher. In less than the fifteen minutes notice I had transformed the house into something fit to be seen by visitors...lol! They seem to be a very nice couple and Jake muscled in and of course they just adored him, Russian didn`t stand in HIS way as words don`t matter to him as long as they are spoken nicely. As for me and Jim, we managed to pin down Slava and asked him to translate directly to his parents, if only we could talk properly to each other, I`m sure we would get on very well. Tomorrow will be much easier as we`ve already met, and I will make sure I take loads of photos as I want to share them with you all. Roman was as good as gold and didn`t wake up once. He is very good at night and now goes to bed at 6.45pm and sleeps through until 6.30 am! When Kerry got home she hated to have to disturb him to take him home again.
The above AOL cartoon is just right at the moment. I can`t open my email box, and the only way I can access my emails is by picking thm up individually from the drop-down list, which is painstakingly slow. I have no idea why this is happening but I blame it all on AOL! Is anyone else having this problem?
Anyway, I`d better get on, I have loads of alerts to read and I will try to read all journals this weekend but I won`t have as much time as I`d like on here, so do forgive me if I don`t comment much. Have a really nice weekend all of you and please take care.

I couldn't access my mail last night, not even from the drop down box!! Must be AOL playing up again. Don't people have a knack of arriving when you least expect them?!! Jeannettexxxx http://journals.aol.co.uk/jlocorriere05/Welcometomytravels

Love your "Mistranslations" I'm glad you got to meet Slava's parents. I'm sure Russian doesn't stand in Roman's way either. Just because they speak Russian, the cooing and smiles are all the same to a baby.
Ooh bet you could have killed Kerry!! 15 minutes to get things ship shape! Lol at you running round and plumping the cushions up and getting the air freshener and having a quick hoover up and shoving the newspapers in the bin and getting yourself ready. . . .phew! I dont mean to be rude Sandra but having Russian guests must be very hard.I wouldnt know a thing about Russian etiquette and nodding and smiling at each other would give me the giggles. .a bit like playing charades. . .wouldnt it be fabulous if Roman picked up the Russian Language though.Hope you have a fabulous time at the party.
The problem with being comfortable in my home is that I don't always keep it tip-top shape, so when company decides to pop in, I'm caught scrambling to tidy up. Hate that!

Have you not thought about learning Russian?? How comes Slava's parents don't speak russian? Can Kerry speak it?? I'm impressed you got everything ready in 15 mins :-)
My brother's wife is from Russia. Jenya travels back to Siberia with their son Alex every so often to visit her family. He met her when she was in Texas as a Fulbright scholar. Alex first learned to speak Russian. He speaks English now very formally. He is only 6 years old. His name in Russian is Sasha. Enjoyed the mistranslations. mark
15 minutes notice, wow, I can just imagine you rushing around ;o)
I'm glad you had everything ready in time, and that your first visit with Slava's parents went well. I wish I could hear them talking, I so miss hearing my Granny speak Russian to her Brother!! I'm sorry I'm so late reading Sandra, I'm unbelieveably behind on all my journal reading, but am catching up slowly but surely ;o)
