A PROPER ENTRY TODAY.......!

The Thunder tree

Hello everyone,

Welcome to a very blustery Friday, the leaves are really saying goodbye to the trees today....mind you, a great deal of them are finding their way into our garden.  More work for Jim, Bless him!

Seeing as how I lost my entry for yesterday.  I will tell you all about Slava`s parents arrival here in the UK.  Nadja and Ivan landed at Heathrow at about 5.30 pm. They had a very good flight but were pulled over at customs as we thought and asked loads of questions about why they were in this country.  Luckily for them , there were two English speaking Russian girls in the queue behind them and they translated for them, they almost had their baggage searched too.  Slava picked them up at 8pm and brought them both back to their flat where Kerry had a meal waiting for them, followed by a home-made chocolate cake she had baked that afternoon.  Roman was asleep when they arrived so they were only able to look at him last night but Kerry told me that this morning he had been fussed over by his adoring grandparents. Thankfully , Roman was in a very happy mood and loved all the attention he was getting.  Nadja and Ivan came over laden with gifts for Little Man, he is going to be so spoiled thia week!

Kerry came shopping with me this morning while Slava took his parent`s to London for a sightseeing trip.  Kerry had decided that it would have been far too long a day for a small baby, besides, the pram/stroller on the tube was NOT a good idea. On this occasion I managed to get a new top for saturday night.  It is the one from Next that I should have bought when I first tried it on. The thing is though, I decided to try on the next size as I thought the 10 was a bit too clingy on me, so I tried the 12 and it`s perfect.  I am so relieved as I thought I might have to make do with something old, and I don`t really have anything party-ish, but this top isthe type of thing you can wear for other occasions.  Tomorrow Jake is going to stay with friends as we are staying the night at Jim`s sister`s house.

Back to yesterday and the lost entry. I had a comment, I think it might have been sara, who asked was the entry about Slava`sMum and Dad...oh yes, it certainly was, and another from Jeannette.... I DID say Oh `something`, It did begin with a `B`,  but it wasn`t `bother`....lol!   I really must start using Word for my entries.  I haven`t lost too many of them but you can guarantee that when I do I am always near the end of them!

This morning while Kerry and I were in Marks and Spencer, they had the two minutes silence for Armistice Day.  The lights dimmed and the tills stopped and all around in fell silent, apart from a couple of women who were seated along from us in the coffee shop, who carried on talking loudly.  Both myself and Kerry couldn`t believe how disrespectful they were.  One woman stood up even though she was holding her baby, and that brought a tear to my eye.  Roman blissfully unaware of what was going on, slept on soundly, though Kerry said afterwards that she was afraid he would break the silence with a mighty howl!  I told her that if he had I`m sure he would have been forgiven for it.

Before I go, the photo at the top titled `The Thunder Tree` is a couple of hundred yards from my house, it`s an old oak tree and doesn`t really have a name but I always think of it as that.  When I was small it was struck by lightening and set on fire, now it is still rather odd-looking all these years later but it has survived and carried on growing.  I just thought it stood out against the sky that evening and would make a good photo.

Well now, I must go.  I hope you all have a lovely, restful weekend and do take care.

I like "The Thunder Tree" very apt name for it. So glad that Nadja and Ivan were not held up for too long at customs..and I hope their stay is a happy one. So you did buy the top from Next - I like their clothes..always well made. It amazes me how some people can be so disrespectful as to keep talking during our 2 minute silence..More famous last words and Mistranslations - I really do enjoy reading them......Ally

I love the picture of the Thunder Tree.  I'm so glad that Slava's mom and dad arrived safely.  And that they have a chance to visit with that precious little boy. What a great chance to have a big family picture taken.

I think the tree picture is suberb.  So nice that Slava's parents are seeing Roman.  What a pity Kerry could not have gone sightseeing and left Roman with you which I am sure you would have adored (Grandma).  Glad that you got the right top for Saturday.  I cannot understand people being disrespectful like that during the two minute silence but there is no accounting for folks.  I was going to have the day off journals today but I did do an entry, I mean I could not let Remembrance Day pass without a mention.  I bet Roman will love his "Russian" toys.

The tree is very dramatic against the dark sky. Glad Slava's parents managed tp get through customs OK eventually. It's always the first item of clothing that we see that we end up going back for!! Maybe one day we'll learn to get it when we first see it!! Jeannette.  http://journals.aol.co.uk/jlocorriere05/Welcometomytravels

How exciting to have Russian in laws! Wonder what Kerry is going to cook for them ? Aw,how lovely for them to see London with their son and very sensible to leave Roman and Mum at home, they can really take in the sights then.Thats a funny looking tree!

That'a wonderful photo of the Thunder Tree - with an appropriately menacing sky too! And I love your name for it. Hope Nadja and Ivan enjoyed their trip to London, probably opened their eyes quite a bit I expect!

Glad you found your top. I don't have anything partyish myself. My party days are gone I'm afraid LOL. Have a good weekend and hope all of you enjoy the party. Helen

Love the thunder tree, very spooky looking!!
So glad that Slava's parents made it here safe and sound, and only a little held up by customs.  It must have been nice for them, after a long flight and customs confusion, to see Slava waiting for them.  Then to have a home cooked meal, with chocolate cake, mmm, and a peek at their Grandson :o)  I'm sure they won't want to go home at the end of their visit!!  Hope they have a good today in London, and that you enjoy the rest of your day too :o)

Hi Sandra....just catching up with your recent entries.  I loved the pics of the falls and also of Kerry and Roman and of Jim and Roman.  I want to visit Niagra Falls.  We are talking about going this next spring, but I doubt we will b/c we can't stand to leave Tugie.
