A NEW BONE

Hello everyone,

Welcome to another Monday.  How quickly the weekends fly by, strange too because I`m not working at the moment so it shouldn`t affect me, but it`s funny, weekends seem different to week days, or maybe it`s just me thats funny....lol!

Kerry and Slava really enjoyed Flight Plan at the cinema last night.  They said Jim and I should go to see it, maybe we will as they won`t tell us what happened apart from that it is a thriller with lots of twists and turns. So there you are Sara, it is well worth seeing! Roman was as good as gold and slept as soon as I put him to bed, despite feeding him an hour early because I thought the clock said 5 and not 6pm.  I told Kerry but she told me not to worry, he won`t wake until 6am for his next meal.  In two weeks we wioll be having him overnight as Kerry and Slava have a company dinner to attend and won`t be home until after 2.30am, so I have to play Mum for the night and bath and dress him in the morning....Oh, those were the days...I`m really looking forward to it and I know Kerry trusts us with him.

This is what Jake has done to the bookcase!

The above photo says just why I was cross with Jake yesterday, but it`s not so bad it can`t be fixed.  Jim has rubbed it down a bit and we don`t have any sandpaper, but when we get some we`ll rub it down some more and stain it.  Being solid pine it will have the "distressed" look that some people pay a lot of money for.  Maybe I can hitre Jake out to do the job for them...lol!

Thanks Jeannette,  I have taken your advice and bought Jake a large cowhide chew bone.  He hasn`t stopped chewing since I gave it to him this morning, though he has chewedanything indoors since I told him off yesterday.  Linda suggested that may be I get a puppy to keep Jake company, though I`m sure it was said in fun...lol! My reply to this is....what, with a husband, son and Jake...what would I do with a puppy? More to the point, what would the puppy do to my already disintegrating house?  I would be forced to leave home...lol!

One very happy dog and one enormous chew bone.

As you can see the bone is enormous, it makes jumbo Jake look tiny.  I wonder how long it will take him to get through it?  Jeannette told me that they last for ages with her dogs....hmmm....I`ll give it a fortnight, this is Jake I`m talking about, not a normal dog by any stretch of the imagination!  It would be great though if it does last for a while, they are not cheap if we have to buy one every couple of weeks.

I have been trying to use Photobucket.com instead of FTP for my photos.  I did manage to get them on my journal but I need to do a bit of tweaking here and there to get it completely right, it would certainly be a bonus not having to worry about space or being able to retain the quality of the photos.

I`m off to catch up on my journals now.  I hope you all have a great day, please take there and Bye Bye for now.

Hi Sandra, you will have to let me know about the piccy thing, I get fed up with trying to juggle my space! Believe it or not, you can get larger hide bones than that one, my daughter buys them for her staffy!

Sandra, that's what I call a BONE hope jake sticks to chewing that and not the furniture, Glad Kerry and Slava enjoyed the film, and I know you will love playing Mum when they go to their Company Dinner...I like the sound of your "distressed" look (true people pay a lot of pennies for that look) Love Jake's Photo with his paw holding the Bone in place...You take care.....Ally

Quick comment, like the new colours, you can play around like I did until you find exactly what you want.  Will comment on entry when I have eaten.

Glad that the bone seems to be working. I think if he gets his jaws really tired out it might do the trick. We only had to use one with Pip when he was a puppy.  They say dogs do it out of boredom but Jake goes out a lot and gets a lot of attention so it might not be that.  You will have to watch it if you go back to work though as he will not like being left alone.  As long as the bones keep him happy, they are also very good for keeping his teeth nice and clean.  At least he knows he has something of his own.
How lovely you are having Roman overnight. Becky and Dean have never needed to do that and we have no cot here anyway.  But I have given Nathan a bath and I got wetter than he did. lol
Glad the damage can be fixed.  I do not use FTP except for animated graphics.  I use File Manager.

Hi Sandra, I was wondering yesterday if getting Jake a bone would help. I can see it does. The grapics are cute. I only use the FTP for grapics and backgrounds myself. I also use photobucket but I like  www.flickr.com  the best as it will allow for different sizes to use. I know you will enjoy keeping Roman ocernight. Helen

If the rawhide bone doesn't work as well as you want, there is another kind of bone available--at least here in the U. S.  Can't remember what it's called (it's been a while since I had a dog) but it's a real bone, stripped of every scintilla of meat and hardened so it will not splinter and cause problems.  Lasts indefinitely.

YES that is some bone and if it saves your furniture its worth every penny ,wont it be lovely when Roman stays over and you have him all to yourself ,........Jan xx

Well, I'm all caught up on you now.  So glad you guys were able to enjoy your visit with Kerry's in-laws.  Sweet, sweet pics...he's a lucky little man.  I SO feel for you on the chewing thing!  We have a chocolate lab.  He was terribly beligerent for exactly one month after we moved into this house.  He spends the majority of his day outside, so the chewing damage was relegated to "his quarters" so to speak.  Chewing is, unfortunately a lab trait.  If you want some hilarious fun, give Jake a balloon to chase...or an empty gallon water jug.  Buster would rather play with those than any of his toys. ;)  C.  http://journals.aol.com/gdireneoe/thedailies

I used to have that problem with Jelly, believe it or not!!  As a tiny tot he would chew the bars on his cot, whether he was in it or not, and when we bought a new pine TV cabinet he chewed both doors, right on the corners where they met in the middle!!!  I also found out that he had been eating the lagging off the water tank in the airing cupboard!  He's grown out of that now, thank goodness, maybe I should have bought him a bone like that one!!  Thanks for the info on that film, I'm so excited to see it, but will probably wait until it's out to rent.

I'm so glad someone else suggested the chew bone.  Our dog used to love them and the funniest thing was when he went to bury them in the corner of the room and would headbut the carpet as if he was covering it up LOL........bless him!!  I bet you'll look forward to having roman for the night.

I love photobucket....I used up all my space under bookncoffee sign on but they let you creat a "sub file" (I just easily followed their directions) so now I'm still on the same photobucket with a sign on of bookncoffee with a subfolder (which gave me more space).  So don't worry about filling it up, they let you keep going and it took almost a year.
Photobucket seems easier to me and if I'm offsite, I can go in and use the graphics again or upload new ones to it and leave an entry from anywhere that has internet access.
