Autumn photos from last week.
Hello everyone,
Welcome to a wild, wet and windy Wednesday. The weather has been awful today with some sun, thunder and all of the latter. I haven`t even left the house today with no afternoon walk for Jake, but never fear he had a very long run in the park this morning and doesn`t seem in a hurry to get up let alone go walkies! I`ve had a nice day on my own as Kerry had lunch out with a friend, just lately I get precious little time for me so I enjoy it while I can. Not of course that I don`t love having Kerry and Little Man here, I just like to have the odd day. Tomorrow it is back to busy, busy, busy with shopping in Tesco in the morning and something in the afternoon that escapes me at the moment.
More Autumn photos.
A big thankyou to all of my friends that left those lovely comments about Jim and his Mum, firstly yes, they DO look alike, in fact Jim, his eldest sister and their Mum are mirror images of one another while his brother and younger sister are just like their Dad. Secondly, he thinks it`s very nice of people to make kind remarks about his Mum. He doesn`t think it`s anything special that he regularly sees his Mum but I beg to differ, there are other long-term residents that have families but never see them. That to me is a crying shame and something that Jim would never allow to happen to his Mum.
And more photos! (sorry about the repeat!)
I`ve just this minute had a phone call from an excited Kerry, she told me that Roman has just picked up a rattle for the first time and proceeded to put it into his mouth. He held it for over 5 minutes and she is thrilled at his new `trick`. I`m so pleased for her that she takes so much pleasure in watching each step her little boy makes.
This is my second attempt at this entry, I`d almost finished the first time and AOL crashed on me, never mind, I was very calm, didn`t swear and carried on.....BUT IF IT HAPPENS AGAIN......AAAAAGGGGGHHHHH!!!!
Well I`d better go now and put something tasty in the oven for my dinner, now what shall I have? Better have a look in the freezer, have a lovely day and please take care.
MURPHY`S LAW
The average cost of rehabilitating a seal after the Exxon Valdez oil spill in Alaska was $80,000. At a special ceremony, two of the most expensively saved animals were released back into the wild amid cheers and applause from onlookers. A minure later, in full view, they were both eaten by a killer whale.
In 1992, Frank Perkins of Los Angeles made an attemt on the world pole-sitting record. Suffering from the `flu he came down 8 hours short of the 400 day record, his sponser had gone bust, his girlfriend had left him and his phone and electricity had been cut off.
A woman came home to find her husband in the kitchen shaking frantically with what looked like a wire running from his waist towards the electric kettle. Intending to jolt him away from the deadly current, she whacked him with a handy plank of wood by the back door, breaking his arm in two places. Until that moment, he had been happily listening to his walkman.

it is so fun to watch babies pass through their developmental phases, glad she is enjoying it!! Moms miss so much if they have to work.

AOL seems to be playing up big time today...kept telling me I had 2 emails but there was nothing there. I worked in a care home for a while and it was so sad to see the 'ressies' that did not have any visitors, their faces were so sad when others had visitors that I always made a point of making them feel special.
My daughter worked in a care home for a short while, and it broke her heart to see residents who never had any visitors - Even though she knew they had familys......Jim is special and you can tell him so from me....Love your Autumn Pictures....Kerry will have many thrills as Roman progress.....I expect you will get lots of phone calls telling you about them lol :o) I've had trouble with aol all day - can't send e-mails, can't read comments - what are they doing to us!!!!.....Ally
Beautiful pictures Sandra! Stunning. Yes, I used to work as an auxilliary nurse on the geriatric ward. I used to break my heart, some of them had been in such a long time and never had one visitor and they had family believe me, sons and daughters or both. I used to spend as much time as possible chatting but it used to get me into trouble with sister. So glad to hear about Roman, lovely when they start to do things independently and take hold of the world so to speak. Aol keeps telling me I have email when I do not, then saying it cannot send email and it is running so slowly. Good for you, I would have sworn if my entry got eaten. You must have more willpower xxxxxx
Ihave seventeen emails /alerts to read but AOL IS TELLING ME THEY ARE NOT AVAILABLE AT PRESENT AND TO TRY LATER grrr ,looks like we have all been visiting our elderlys,Iknow of lots of residents didnt get a visit ,when they died people would come out of the wood work so sad these visits would have meant so much more when the people were alive Jan xx
great photos
Beautiful pics of the trees changing colour :o) Love the purple fluffy monster siggy tag you have there too...Sometimes it can be hard for families to go and visit relatives who are like Jim's mum...I know it isn't an excuse but it can be heartbreaking to deal and cope with...My mum would like to go and see her sister in law down south but can't as she'd rather remember her fit and well and not with the alzheimers she now has.......Caff xx
Great Photo's.Don't you just love this time of the year LOL
Really lovely autunm pictures. What a clever boy Roman is, bless him.Have fun at Tescos and what ever else it was you were going to do. Did Jeannette tell you how I got mixed up with Jim and Mike ?..... Jean
I love all the pretty colors there...so nice...great photos. As for Jim, he is one awesome son. He is so special and those who care about their parents are to be rewarded with praise in my book...there are far too many that don't give a hoot. So, yes, Jim gets 100 % praise from me!
That is sooooooooo cool about Roman and the rattle. So many stages to go through...he has many more to go...all special!
Take care and have a great eveing.
Hugs,
Joyce
Lovely Autumn photos! I thought the photo of Jim and his Mum was lovely,it says so much about Jim.His Mum will be so proud of her son.Makes you go all emotional to see them together.LOL at Roman! Its lovely for Kerry to see this little milestone.
I think it's a crying shame to think of all those old people in the home with no visitors. Lovely photos thanks for sharing them. Bless Kerry for ringing you!! I reckon there's a lot more phone calls to come ;-)
Lovely photos, we don't have any pretty colors here where I live yet or if we do I haven't seen any. A lot of things are going wrong with AOL lately. It would not let some of us send out e-mails this morning and my alerts going out and coming in haven't been working right in about two weeks. No rain here recently. We really need some to settle all this pollen from the rag-weeds. Helen
The photos are great, I love the colours this time of year. It's sad when people don't visit their elderly parents, glad Jim does. Like the story of the seals!! Jeannette.
Is that a true story about the seals being ate? That would SUCK!! All that money for nothing.
When i worked at the nursing home i fell in love with all my residents and so so so many of them had no family that came except at Christmas or Easter. 90% of those families treated me like dirt and acted terribly the short while they were there. Broke my heart. I am glad you had some time to yourself. I hope its not rainy and gloomy on Thurs for you and Jake. You havent had many pics of him lately....got any new ones? I LOVE the pics of the trees you have in todays entry. Beautiful. Take care my friend. Love, lisa
Beautiful pics and great that Roman is starting to grab things and play. They grow so fast.
