MAN IN THE MOON

Hello everyone,

Welcome to a much cooler Tuesday.  Yesterday was Jim`s Mum`s 84th birthday and Jim took a couple of photos of them together.  Unfortunately she was not very responsive yesterday but Jim showed her all of her cards and presents.  Jim just chats to her and asks her how she is, despite the fact that she doesn`t usually answer or even recognise him, he just carries on and always treats her the same as always.

Jim told me to use one of the photos of them together. It was a shame she wasn`t smiling yesterday but no two days are the same with her.  Some days she is quite bright and another unresponsive, we just never know.  The care home had made her a birthday cake as they do with all their residents and announcements are made in the newsletter.  Jim could only stay with her for an hour as he was stuck in traffic going there and he had to go straight to work afterwards, but he knew his sisters and nephews were visiting later in the day so his Mum wouldn`t be short of company on her special day.

Jim also took some lovely scenic photos in the park while walking Jake, thankfully the `stick` man wasn`t there and Jake played happily with the other dogs with their friendly owners.  Meanwhile back at home I was babysitting Roman and he was as good as gold for me.  I fed him as soon as Kerry left for her class, and then chaged him and he fell asleep for most of the morning, waking 10 minutes before she arrived back here at 12.30.  This afternoon we repeated our long walk of yesterday, well almost, I insisted on taking the shorter route ( which is still a long way!) as I thought it was going to rain.  It didn`t rain but there was a cold wind blowing and I`m glad a wore my fleecy coat, yesterday I was wearing a t-shirt, what a difference a day makes....brrrrrr.  I love the walks we have because we can have a good old gossip about everything as walk round, Kerry has a very wicked sense of humour and we have lots of laughs.

Jim took this photo of Danny`s girlfriend holding Roman and he was looking at me the whole time!

Jim is feeling very much better today, he has said his headaches have completely gone.  He does seem fine but I`ll still keep an eye on him to make sure he`s being honest with me...lol!  We still haven`t found out what rayfish tastes like. Apparently you have to leave it for 3 days before you can eat it because it has an unpleasant ammonia-type substance that will taint the flavour if eaten earlier, when I find out what it`s like I will let you know.

On Sunday night I thought I`d try to get a decent photo of the moon, for no other reason than I wanted to see what out camera could do.  Here is the result, just a plain moon but clearly visible after much playing around with the edit feature.

I couldn`t see a man in the moon either....thought it was worth a try though..lol!

I`ve finished all of my Christmas wrapping now and I`ve just got a few more to buy. I`ll wrap them as soon as I get them and put them away till Christmas Day.  The main reason I`ve done it all this early is that if I get a job before Christmas, I`ve no idea of the times or hours that I`ll have to do and I`m worried that I won`t have enough time to shop.  This way I`m all done and thats one less worry for me.  Now though, I`ll probably forget what I`ve bought and buy more presents, better make a list while my memory is still fresh.

I`m off now to have some dinner so have a lovely day and please take care.

Sandra, take a look at your moon pic again...if you look at the left crescent side...you will notice that the edge is less defined...somewhat muddy.  Sunday-Monday night there was a very small lunar shadow...not a true eclipse. ;)  C.  http://journals.aol.com/gdireneoe/thedailies

I think it it is a wonderful testament to Jim's character  how wonderfully he treats his mother! It is important o treat  the aged normally even if they are off a bit .

The moon was lovely on sunday evening...I'd taken the boys shopping to asda via bribery of a macdonalds whilst they were there LOL...On the way there we saw this gorgeous huge moon in the sky at twilight and it was so beautiful i wished i had a camera to stop and take a pic...When we came out it was dark and clear sky still and looked just like your pic :o) Happy Birthday to Jims mum...It's sad when people go like that sometimes but i always think best not to treat them any different...It's still a lovely pic of them together even if she isn't smiling :o)      Caff xxx

I think Jim looks a lot like his Mom. I think it's great that he treats her the same as if she knows what is going on. Lovely photo and a good one of Danny's girlfriend and Roman. Thats great that Jim's headache is gone. Glad the man wasn't there to try to hit Jake with that stick. Wonder if he treats his own dog good? Great moon shot. I had seen some photos today where someone took the moon in stages of the eclipse. Helen

Jim is so like his mum, bless her. Yes, best to treat them the same as you always did, that is how we acted with my father because as they are uncommunicative you never know what they can actually take in and it would be dreadful to patronise them.  Wonderful photo of Roman, I can see the attraction for Danny. I notice all the photos of Roman in the background, just like my place lol. Great picture of the moon xxxxx

Most sons should be as dedicated to their mothers as Jim is.  I am glad she got to have a good birthday with visitors.
I can't believe you are almost done with your Christmas shopping!  Wow!

Sandra, Dannys girlfriend is very pretty and Roman is a complete DOLL.  Your MIL reminds me so much of the residents i took care of in a nursing home in the 80's and early 90's when i 1st got a divorce. I am glad Jim was able to spend time with her. I hope he does feel better soon!
Love, lisa jo
