THURSDAY`S HAPPENINGS

Hello everyone,

Welcome to another dismal day, warm but overcast with some rain and so dark, very miserable.  This morning I went to Tescos for the weekly shopping, took my shopping list and didn`t look at it once AND still got everything I needed.  Most times regardless whether or not I have the list I forget at least one thing that I need, so today I gave myself a pat on the back, though I let myself down at the checkout by leaving my credit card behind and had to be chased by a member of staff frantically waving said card in the air!

This is made up from the photos I thought I`d lost yesterday.  Jim found them in the Norton recycle bin, how they got there I have no idea but I was pleased I have them back again.  I thought the toadstalls were very interesting so I thought I`d share them.  There are so many different types growing in the park in one area as it is very damp there.  I want to get photos of some of the others when it`s not raining out.

This afternoon Kerry brought Roman around to see us and she asked Jim to put some photos she`d taken onto disk.  There were some lovely ones there and I pinched a few of them!

Don`t they look adorable together?

Kerry keeps her camera by her side and takes photos when she sees a good opportunity,  this one though, she set up, and what a good one it is too.

This one she took while Little Man was lying on his playmat with the baby gym overhead.  He has learned how to hit the toys that are hanging down so that they play tunes, Kerry says it really keeps him entertained.

Tomorrow Jim and some friends from work are going sea-fishing again.  They are going to Hayling Island again on the same boat as before.  There are six of them going with a few changes from last time.  One of them S, was so seasick that he didn`t want to try again....and who could blame him.  The other one who wasn`t well Glynn, is made of sterner stuff and insists on a return visit.  So we have Jim, Mark, Steve,Ted,Glynn and John, and may they have a safe, calm day.  This time they are fishing for cod so I`m hoping to fill my freezer tomorrow night!

Tomorrow Kerry and I are going shopping to Uxbridge for most of the day.  It`s not somewhere we shop regularly so it will be nice to have a change.  We`re planning on finishing our Christmas shopping and get my Mother-in-Law a birthday present, she is 84 on Monday and clothes are always a good option.

That`s all from me for today.  I hope you all have a lovely day/evening and take good care.

HAPPY THE MAN

Happy the man, and happy he alone,

He who can call today his own:

He who, secure within, can say,

Tomorrow do thy worst, for I have lived today.

Be fair or foul or rain or shine

The joys I have possessed, in spite of fate, are mine.

Not Heaven itself upon the past has power,

But what has been, has been, and I have had my hour.

John Dryden

translation of Horace, Odes, Book 111, xxix

WEATHER PROVERBS

Red sky at night, shepherd`s delight, red sky in the morning, shepherds warning.

March winds and April showers bring forth May flowers.

Clear moon, frost soon.

Halo around the sun or moon, rain or snow is coming soon.

One swallow doesn`t a summer make.

Dew on the grass, rain shan`t pass.

Rain before seven, fine before eleven.

Evening red and morning grey, two sure signs of perfect day.

The higher the clouds the better the weather.

The sudden storm lasts not three hours.

Cold is the night when the stars shine bright.

The farther the sight, the nearer the rain.

Lovely pics of the fungi and plants and I like the way you put them together.  Roman is adorable and growing so fast.  Becky was like that with the camera with Nathan but now they are two of them she does not have as much time, shame because there are less photos or will be less photos of Daniel.  Enjoy your shop. I have not even started thinking about Christmas. xxxx

Those are really terrific photos! You did well in Tescos - I usually forget to take the shopping list with me, and always forget to get something vitally important. Hope Jim has a good day sea fishing - can get a bit rough around Hayling Island, I seem to remember from the old days, but usually good fishing waters there. That's the main thing!
