A DOG, AND A MAN WITH A STICK

Hello everyone,

Welcome to what is left of Monday here in England.  I`ve had such a busy day today.  I got up early and went into town job-hunting, dropping my CV into as many employment agencies as I could.  The only one who showed any interest was ManPower where the woman told me that she would ring around her companies and ask if they needed anyone in their post-room.  I`m not sure I`ll wait to see if she calls me and will continue looking for something, anything that will pay me some cash!  I will probably have to do some Christmas temporary work in a shop in town.  In fact, this morning I walked past Anne Summers shop...( I`m sure you`ve heard of her!) and they are advertising for Christmas casual staff, full and part-time, and I thought to myself, why not, as long as I don`t have to where a little bunny rabbit costume...lol!  Now that would scare potential customers away........  I have been given some sites where I can job-search at my leisure, so tomorrow I`ll spend some time doing just that.

When I got home at lunchtime I called Kerry and asked her if she was coming walkies with me and Jake.  She did, and we walked....and walked and walked, for nearly 2 hours.  I`m sure my legs are getting shorter, I don`t know what got into her as she doesn`t usually want to walk very far....even Jake was worn out!  When she went home I decided to wrap some Christmas pressies and started with Roman`s. I`ve bought him a giant-sized Santa carrier bag and all his wrapped presents have been put in it. Once I`d finished I could hardly lift the carrier bag and had to drag it along the floor.  I am so looking forward to Christmas this year not that Roman is here with us.

Yesterday, in the morning I took the camera out to Upton Park and we took some photos of Maple trees with their autumn glory leaves.  I have to make up a collage before I can post them though.  We carried on walking and let Jake off the lead, he saw a another dog and run up to him and they played a bit, then the owner comerushing up, put his dog on a lead and went to hit Jake with a stick he was carrying.  Jake got away before he did anything but Jim and I were furious and Jim said if he`d hit him there were going to be words spoken in anger!  Some people, why would he do that?  Jake did nothing wrong and his dog was friendly...just that the owner wasn`t.

In the afternoon we all Kerry and family, me and Jim, went to Danny`s for tea.  His girlfriend was there, ( relationship problems seem to be on hold for the time being) and the afternoon went reasonably well, apart from me offering his girlfriend a biscuit as I had forgotten she is fasting for Ramaddan, making Kerry grin at me across the room!  It was nice to see Danny but I just like to see him more settled.  Maybe he will be from now on, I can live in hope.

Jim was still feeling quite unwell yesterday. I`ve told him that if it persists this week he MUST see the doctor because his headaches have been quite bad and he isn`t the type to go to the doctor.  Last time he was really ill he wouldn`t go and by the time he did he was rushed into hospital with a burst appendix, operated on, sent home too soon and was back in hospital a week later having more surgery.  He promised me after that he would always see a doctor when he was ill....hmph...he has a short memory!

Tomorrow morning I will be looking after Roman while Kerry goes to her post-natal exercise class.  He has just started to discover that his mouth is there to put his fingers in.  He spends ages looking at his fingers and he brings them so close to his face that he goes cross-eyed!

Well that`s it from me today.  I must read the rest of my journals now, but have a lovely day all of you and take good care.

Sandra, Job hunting can be a nightmare - I hope you find something soon, I'm sure you will - with Christmas they will need extra staff...   That awful ill mannered man - going to hit Jake with a stick...he'd have got it back if I had been there...Glad Danny seems more settled, may it continue...What can we do about men and the doctors, if you were ill it would be the first thing he would tell you to do - Go to the Doctors...Why do they leave it so long....have a nice evening....and take care....Ally

Beautiful graphics Sandra, especially the chrysanthemums. Stick wielding men are bad news - bullies, all of them. Hope the job hunting brings some results soon. Take care.

Mike worked a couple of year for Manpower.  Oh Ann Summers eh, just think of the discounts you could get for us ladies lol and even better, the pictures you could post lolol.  Have fun looking after Roman, I love that "exploring my fingers" stage.  Hope Jim gets sorted out soon, does he suffer from sinus trouble at all?

Good luck with the job hunt Sandra, hope you find something soon.
Boo to the guy with the stick, why would he do that?  Some people just don't think do they, I'm sure he wouldn't have liked his dog to have been threatened with a stick.  ((((( Jake )))))
Hope Jim feels better soon, or gets to the doctors!

Extraordinary way to behave - that man with the stick. Perhaps his dog was just a bitch on heat, and he didn't want Jake getting too friendly! Sounds as though you'll have to get firm with Jim - read him the riot act, remind him about the appendix episode. You certainly are well organised - wrapping your Christmas presents already!

David.

I am sorry I have been away for too long and I'm behind.  So sorry this mean man was a little stick heavy on your walk.  Some people don't know how to act and have to show off, it seems.
I see you are job hunting...so good luck with that.  And I hope Jim is much better tomorrow.  Give little Roman a Hug from the US!  Wow, that would have to be a big hug wouldn't it?

I love your graphics.  Hope all goes well with your job search.  Yes babies are fun at Christmas, he'll be especially fun next year when he's toddling about.  Give Jim some chicken soup (my cure for everything that ails a body) and encourage him to be checked.  Men hate to go to doctors for some reason...can't understand it. Hugs back to you,

Hi Sandra,
You did have a busy Monday...good luck on the job hunt!!! I am sure something will come your way soon.  So nice to hear about your walk with Kerry and the visit with Dan...but worried about Jim, hope he is feeling better soon.  Sounds to me like he does need to go see a doctor, if he is no better soon.  I know you are staying on top of that situation.  Hope you have a wonderful Tuesday with watching little Roman...I know he makes your day brighter!
Hugs,
joyce
