Hello everyone,
Welcome to a busy, busy Friday. The day started early for me yet again, getting up at 6.45 and leaving the house just after 9. It was pouring with rain, just the weather Kerry and I needed for a mornings shopping! The shops were very busy because of the school holidays but I just had to get a new book, I finished `The Magic Hour` by Charlotte Bingham last night , not the best read I`ve ever had but certainly one of the easiest to read, ok if you like light reading with an uncomplicated plot with a bit of romance. I bought `The Copper Beech` by Maeve Binchy which will have more substance to it I think, and I look foward to starting it later this evening.
I digress, while out we did a little shopping and lots of walking so we went to Costa`s for a coffee. The coffee shop is situated in Ottakar`s book store, s great way to get people to come in and look around. We sat on some comfy chairs and Kerry gave Roman his bottle, later she took him to be changed and I sat there looking at a book I liked the look of. At that moment a family group consisting of mum, grandma and three young children tried to push past me to a small table nearby. Seeing that there wasn`t a table big enough for them all I said that Kerry and I would be leaving soon and then they could sit at our table. Without a word they all sat down and made them themselves comfortable, taking Kerry`s chair also. I told them Kerry would be back soon but they just ignored me, apart from thr grandmother who smiled weakly at me and shrugged. I didn`t return the smile and just sat there waiting for Kerry`s return. The `daughter` of the family returned with refreshments for her family and didn`t look happy as there wasn`t another chair for her to sit on, she sighed....and I ignored her. I was not at all happy, I had said we were leaving soon and I hadn`t invited them to sit down, comandeer our table and pinch our chairs! Then Kerry returned also not looking happy and said sarcastically that it was a good job she didn`t want to finish her coffee. The family totally ignored her comment and as I got up from my chair it was pulled away almost from underneath me. Now I WAS cross! I just turned to them and told them how rude they were but I was met with blank expressions all round. Some people!
Is anybody else having problems with journal alerts. Mine are not exactly problems but when someone comments on my journal, I get as many as 3 alerts for the same comment. This has been happening for weeks now and I`m wondering if I`m the only one this happening to.
I forget to tell you yesterday that Roman had his vaccinations but was a bit grouchy for a few hours afterwards, but it didn`t stop him from sleeping through the night for 12 hours, much to Kerry`s delight. At the clinic Kerry spoke to the Health Visitor who spoke to Kerry as if she were ten years old and made her feel like a useless mother. I told her not too worry as obviously, things have not changed since she was a baby as I remember all to well. I do feel that they should be there to OFFER advice not give orders.
This morning Jake was still a little nervy after the fireworks incident last night. I notice from the comments I recieved that many of you feel the same as I do. Our poor pets have to suffer because of these `celebrations` that begin weeks earlier and end weeks later. It was suggested that there should be public firework displays only and I totally agree with that.
Well for now dear friends I must go and read some journals. I hope you all have a nice and restful weekend. Take care.
A German `tourist`, supposedly on a golfing holiday, turned up at customs with his golf bag. While making small talk about golf, the customs officer realised that the tourist didn`t know what a "handicap" was. The customs officer asks the tourist to demonstrate his swing, which he did - backwards! A substantial amount of drugs were found in the golf bag.

Good for you Sandra, for telling them what you thought, how rude of them!! I honestly can't believe the nerve of some people these days, and they really don't see it do they!! I love Maeve Binchy, and really enjoyed The Copper Beech :o)

I don't get half my comment alerts, they must be winging your way instead. Hardly any of my edit buttons work and tried everything but text (typeface) has a mind of its own. Just read you comment re: William Cowper writing Amazing Grace, it was a joint effort with his friend John Newton, they wrote loads together.
Hope Roman is okay, he's a lovely little chap. Take care.

I only get a fraction of the comment alerts! And then when I do I can't always access them cos the screen freezes for a while! AOL need to get its act together!
I am getting the same as you Sandra, getting two or three alerts for the same person but I am getting hardly any comments alerts.
I cannot believe the rudeness of those people, I am just wondering whether they were foreigners? Maybe they just did not understand you but on the other hand maybe you heard them speak.

The alerts are going crazy! I sometimes put links in and hit save and it doesn't work. I have to go back in and do it over.
I think aol has gone mad with their alerts I wish they would get it sorted so we knew where we are standing it sure messes things up....Ally
Glad Roman has not suffered any ill effects for the shots so far.
Some people are just naturally rude anyway. Give them a step and they take a mile so to speak.
Beautiful grapics today. Helen
You are lucky Ive read all of Maeve Binchys books ,so you have a treat in store ,the golden hour ,was as you said Idont think Charlotte Binghams later books are as good as earlier ones ,So pleased Roman wasnt too effected by his jabs.........Jan xx
Well done you, telling those appalling people how rude they were! They sounded not just ignorant - but totally brain-dead as well! What a shame they had to spoil your quiet coffee break with Kerry. I'm glad you got a nice new book anyway. Hope you enjoy it.
David.

I always get two identical comment alerts per person but only get less than half what I should get, been happening for weeks now. Glad you spoke up to those ignorant people. Have a good weekend. Jeannette. http://journals.aol.co.uk/jlocorriere05/Welcometomytravels/
Sandra, it's the same all over...there are just some people who are "brain dead." I've had the same thing happen... And the other day I was backing into a parking spot at the store & some clown drove his car right behind me, heading into the same spot. I checked...my backup lights are working and he could see what I was doing. I slammed on my brakes and as he (about 20 years old) walked by me (63 years old) he sneered and flipped me off. Not only brain dead but rude !!! I'm glad I hit the brakes..he probably did not have insurance. People don't even practice the "Golden Rule" anymore, and it's so basic...do unto others as you would have people do to you. I sure hope little Roman is feeling better from his shots. Linda
Hey...I am only getting about 1/2 my comments.....I check my last journal entry to see who commented. I'm sure I've missed a bunch of them b/c I don't go back and look at the last 2 or 3 entries, just the last entry.
Oh well.
I'm trying to read Maeve Binchy's Echoes, but I can't get my bum out of this computer chair. LOL>
I'm not even getting all my comment alerts and your getting 3 for each one?? I wouldn't moan about it if I were you!! Well done for telling that family they were rude. I don't think I would've had the nerve ;-)
