Hello everyone,
Kerry and Sharon have arrived safely in Prague and are out and about in a cold, snowy wonderland. I got a text from Kerry saying they had arrived at 8.30 last night and that there was lots of lovely snow. This morning I got several more texts telling me a) it`s freezing and she can`t feel her fingers through her gloves. b) that the cappuchino`s and apple strudel are delicious ( I already know that!) and c) that they were about to have ghoulash soup in a bread bowl (like we had and absolutely loved). I am envious and wish I were there with them...sigh.
Slava on the other hand isn`t having such a good time in Russia. He is being kept very busy by Roman who wants to be with his daddy all the time and won`t let him out of his sight. Also on Sunday night Slava and Danny had gone out for the evening, they had be gone just an hour when his Mum called to say that Roman had woken up and was very upset. It seemed she couldn`t console him and he only wanted his daddy or mummy. According to Kerry he won`t be going out in the evening again as he won`t risk Roman becoming too distressed. In the day it`s different as he gets on well with his Russian family but he doesn`t really know them well and I think the language barrier doesn`t help. At home Slava speaks Russian to him and he understands what is said to him but I think it`s different when veryone around him can`t speak English to him. Kerry and Slava knew the situation was never going to be easy for his parents and I can only imagine how I`d feel were the situation reversed. I just thank God that I have a deep bond with Roman, I couldn`t bear being rejected by him, Nadia must feel dreadful. Hopefully, Nadia and Ivan are visiting Slava and Kerry in September and perhaps it will be easier for Roman in his own surroundings. Also, Slava`s sister is expecting a baby girl in April, her first baby so that will be wonderful them.
We, or I should say I, are having a spring clean of the shops shelves in preparation for the stock we should be getting in very soon. I did most of it myself last year and I know it`ll bethe same this year too. I don`t really mind but it IS hard work and there are still customers to serve and my general shop duties to be carried out. There is a satisfying feeling however to see how clean everything is even though it never lasts very long, I know its done and that`s what counts. We aren`t getting that many customers at the moment and certainly not the nice ones that always smile and chat. With some people it`s all they can do to say please or thank, I know I say it all the time but manners cost nothing and a smile looks much nicer than a frown
Tomorrow Jim and I are going to IKEA to look for a new dining table and chairs. I`ve been looking online and have seen several that I like but I need to see them close up before I decide which I like the best, my old one already has a new home to go to so at least it won`t be going to waste. Last night I was working in the bathroom until 10pm, not all evening but in my breaks from the computer. The grouting between the tiles in the shower were discoloured and badly needed a facelift so I decided to get it done and out of the way. I bought a grout whitening kit some time ago and kept putting off using it but I`m so glad that I have, the difference is amazing, it looks brand new again. I still have a few more tiles to do and it will be perfect. I congratulate myself on my hard work...lol!
Anyway, I must away and contemplate my time without my kids around me........me being me, I quite enjoy knowing there won`t be a knock on the door or a phone call saying " Mummm? I don`t suppose you could do me a big favour...?" At least for a few days I can safely say I won`t be disturbed...lol! Bye...:o)

Oh, poor Slava..........finding out what it's like to be a Mummy!!!!!! I can understand Roman being upset, he will know his grandparents from his previous visit, but it isn't the same as having Mummy or Daddy around when you wake up. Hope Kerry has a good time with her friend. Enjoy your peace, everyone will soon be back home knocking on your door, ringing your phone ............ you wouldn't have it any other way. Eileenx
I love Ikea! Hope you find what your looking for.

Poor baby Roman! I know he's gotta be scared in that new land. He just wants his Daddy to hold him. That doesn't give Slava much of a break, though. But, Roman is small....that's part of being a daddy.
Good for you working on your shower like that. I need to do it and I'm just too lazy! Can I hire you? LOL!
Have fun at IKEA. I love that store!
Pam
Hope the dining set you liked online is as nice when you see it for real. The snow your family are getting sounds better than the slushy mess we have been having. love Joan

Glad that Kerry and her friend arrived safely and are having a great time. Poor Roman is afraid his dad is going to leave him I suppose. Good luck on cleaning those shelves. Helen
Poor Roman, its understandable really as kids perceive things so differently.I hope hes ok the rest of the holiday.I got a hand held steamer to clean the bathroom grout and it does the job and chases all the soapy grime away and leaves everywhere sparkling.
((((((((((((((((((HUGSTOYOU)))))))))))I am glad they all arrive there safly.Ii am sorry to hear that roman isnt doing very well, but that is to be understood.I think I would probllay feel the same way if I was Roman.Good lick with the cleaning.Have a nice evening.
It must be confusing for Roman at times. But it sounds like they are all having a good hoilday. Do you have a meat ball lunch when you go to Ikea? That's the main reason I go. I even served their meatballs with a wonderful cranberry sauce for my family Christmas dinner. Linda in WA
you have such energy and are a go getter!! I am so lazy compared to you....poor Slava and also his mom...i bet Roman is missing you and also Kerry so much....but i hope before they leave it all works out. Sounds like Kerry is cold but having a good time! Enjoy your ME time.
LOVE, lisa
Hi Sandra. Enjoyed reading your Blog as usual. Glad you are enjoying the emails.
Win and me are the same as you. We don't get a knock on the door, but what I call MayDay/ SOS phone calls from my daughter or son. We could never move up into the wilds of Norfolk or Lincolnshire as a lot of London/Essex people are to buy a good size house/bungalow at a cheap price. Too far to drive back to pick kids up from school etc.

Glad Kerry arrived safely ,hope she has a good time ,my daughter went there with two friends .Poor Roman hope he soon settles and enjoys it ,Make the most of the quite time ,they will soon be home again .......Love Jeanx
Poor Roman, I think he wishes his other grandma was there too! Russia although cold is said to be beautiful this time of year. Good luck finding a dining room table. I want to get a new one as well. Doc and I have decided to hunt around in the antique shops. We want something old world and that will last awhile. The newer furniture today, doesn't hold up as well as it used to. (Hugs) Indigo
So nice to read that Kerry and Sharon are having a wonderful time...hope she is getting some good photos...bet it is pretty there. Roman is a true Daddy's boy...I have been in that spot many times in the past, where the grandchild only wants Daddy or Mom....
Sounds like you are busy at work...and I hope you share the photos of your new table and chairs...have fun shopping...have a beautiful end to your week...hugs and love,
Joyce
Great newsy post Sandra ...I really enjoyed it ! Prague sounds even more wonderful in the snow! Poor Roman and poor Russian grandma Nadia....as you say hopefully he will be more comfortable with them in Sept when they visit him at home. Eve
Wow....everyone out of the country. I envy Kerry getting away....especially to someplace like Prague. I hope they have lovely time. Awww, Roman wants his Daddy when he wakes. And being in a different place is always a little disorienting at night.
Work is keeping you busy. It's great you love your job there,
I NEED a dining room set badly. I'm ready to put my on the trash heap. But with loittle oes I don't know how much remodeling and decorating with little ones living here full times, if you know what I mean.
Enjoy your peaceful weekend,
Hugs, Barb
