Hello everyone,
As you can tell from the photos above, they are back from Russia after having a great time. When they arrived there it was -22 degrees celcius/-8 farenheit, flippin` cold if you ask me...brrr! It turned out that Roman`s warmest clothes were no good in thos temperatures so it was a good thing that his Baba Nadia had bought him some winter tights (they need them!) a ski-type suit and a special pair of boots to keep out the cold. I had bought him some thermal socks and gloves from Prague so at least I made some contribution...lol! It wasn`t snowing at first but by the second day, Sunday, the temperature rose to -14 and down it came. They had a wonderful time in the snow on Slava`s sled that he`d had since he was a boy. I think Roman has been very lucky because not many children in England get to experience snow like that and how many of them get to walk on a frozen lake? It just doesn`t get that cold here and I can`t remember when the snow was deep enough for a sled. It must have been back in the 70`s when my children were small.
Roman had Slava`s cousin`s little boy Andre, as a playmate and they got on really well. Andre is the little boy in the photo that was taken on the Russian Christmas Day. It`s really good because Roman has never really got on well with other children and that has worried Kerry a little bit. Since the move to Hampshire he has certainly gained in confidence and I think this holiday has certainly done him good too. Danny had a great time too though he and Slava are a bit frazzled with looking after Roman between them.....all together now.....ahhhh, poor loves....lol! Now they know what looking after a boisterous two year old is like for kerry on a daily basis!
When we met them at the airport on Saturday evening I ran over to Roman to get him out of his buggy. In his hands was a huge bag of M&Ms which I promptly removed. If Kerry had been there she would have had a fit if she`d seen him eating all that chocolate at 6.30 in the evening. I told Slava I wouldn`t tell her if he didn`t and he laughed because I knew he didn`t want her to find out either. Roman didn`t stop talking all the way home, about snow, sleds, snowballs and some new Russian words, especially dengi (sic) which means money, one of Roman`s favourite things...lol! He kept giving me kisses and cuddles all evening till it was time to go home and I loved every moment of it, I really missed him when he was so far away.
We are all ill again to some degree, Kerry has flu-like symtoms as does Jim, I have had a sore stomach, headache and constant tiredness since saturday morning. There are so many viruses around at the moment its one thing after another. Hopefully it will get really cold for a while and kill them all off...the germs that is not us...lol!
It was busy, busy, busy at work today with only three of us to run the whole centre. It does happen from time to time and it helps when there aren`t too many customers. I managed to get further on with my shelf-cleaning and its looking so much better, which is more than I can say for my poor back and shoulder but hey ho, thats life. You just have to get on with things despite these annoying little aches and pains....sigh.
That`s it from me today then, I still have more of Danny`s photos to edit and it`s taken me ages already. Now I have to separate them, some for Kerry, some for Dan and some for my journal. I`m sure Dan wouldn`t want me to post a photo of the gorgeous Russian girls he met in a club one evening...lol! Have a lovely evening, Bye for now. :o)

Hi Sandra sounds if the family had a great time. I remember as a child walking on frozen lochs nearly every winter but now they very seldom freeze over. We used to skate on the ponds in the parks too. Global warming? Love Joan.
Hi Sandra I so enjoyed the pictures.Roman had realy rosy cheeks on some of them.Reminded me of some I have of my grandaughter & grandsons when they went to Sierra Nevada to see snow for the first time from there home in Spain..Brrr it is cold in Russia though. .Too cold for me I would imagine, but they all looked to have such a lovely time and how lovely too for Slava's family to have Roman around them for a week.I bet they adored it as you do,when he is around you at home..Take Care God Bless Kath astoriasand http://journals.aol.co.uk/astoriasand/MYSIMPLERHYMES
I simply loved all the photos and seeing Roman enjoying himself so much in the snow. Unbelievable that frozen lake, remember when that sort of thing used to happen here? I remember the sea freezing at Southend!! Great to talk to you on the phone. Hope Jim and all the family are feeling better really soon. Hugs xxxx

Happy New Year, Sandra. I'm back from a hiatus and trying to catch up on journals. I LOVE the pictures from Russia. What a lovely family your son-in-law has. Roman has grown so much! I especially enjoyed seeing the Christmas decorations there. Beautiful.
Hugs, Kathy
Hello Sandra The photo's of the Russian trip are wonderfull! I can see Roman is having a great time. My nephew Alex who is now 6 years old visits Siberia with his mother when she goes to her parents. I believe the last time was Spring/07. It is much colder there I am sure so I don't think they make winter trips. My brother has been to Russia once that I am aware of. I have had a ear/sinus infection that is finally getting better. I was very sick for almost a month. I hope Jim will get over his flu bug soon which can be miserable. My 2 workers and I got the plywood roof on my addition to my cabin this past fall. It is now covered with tarpaper until the shingles can be installed. I could not go outside without getting more sick so that was when the work stopped. Tomorrow I have my 3rd spinal epidural (steroid) which is x-ray guided to the lumbar spinal sheath. It is where the bone stenosis is putting pressure on the spinal cord. I am now getting up to feeling like sitting for awhile at the computer and visiting journals. I will be visiting people on and off. I need to hopefully do work inside my cabin and with tomorrows (Thursday) treatment it should help. Best wishes to you and I will visit when I can. Mark
That is seriously cold weather.!!!
The pictures are great.
They looked like they were having a great time.

Sorry everyone has been unwell. Hopefully you are all on the upturn by now. I can sympathize.
What WONDEFUL photos. Thanks so much for sharing them. Even all bundled up they still looked pretty chilly to me! Roman certainly looks like he was having a good time. Slava too! I don't think my kids have ever been really sledding. Of course this part of TX isn't known for lots of snow. LOL
Hope it warms up soon.
Hugs, Barb
