I know I`m a bit late in the day with my New Year wishes but better late than never. I hope 2008 brings good health, much happiness and prosperity to you all. It`s been a very sad start for my brother-in-law whose mother died suddenly on New Years Eve. On the occasions that I met her I warmed to her and I`m saddened at her passing.
I had the family over for dinner today and though it was a quiet day is was nice to see everyone again. On Friday Roman and Slava will be staying the night because in the morning they are off to Russia for a week. Jim is taking them to Heathrow Airport along with Danny who is going with them. Kerry is busy sorting out Roman`s warmest clothes, the weather forecast is for freezing temperatures, while at the same time looking forward to her 4 days break in Prague with her friend Sharon. She is really going to miss Roman but she knows he`ll be well looked after by his grandparents as well as his daddy and uncle. Anyway, the day after Slava etc. fly out (Sunday) Kerry will be here overnight before they leave for the airport for their flight (London Gatwick this time). Sharon`s boyfriend is driving this time.
We went to a New Years celebration at Sharon`s home last night but I left early to bring Roman home to bed. I was happy to leave as I`d been up since 6am and was the only one to have been to work that day. When we got home I got Roman ready for bed and I climbed into my dressing gown and armed respectively with a cup of milk and a cup of tea, we curled up in the armchair and watched Graham Norton`s New Year quiz show. It didn`t take a very tired Roman long to fall asleep and I soon had him tucked up in bed, with me following not far behind. Not seeing in the New Year has never really bothered me though I was woken up by the celebratory fireworks but soon dozed off again.
I didn`t mention in my Christmas entry what presents I received so I`ll tell you now. Jim bought me a pair of soft black leather ankle boots, they are so comfortable and stylish too. I live and die in boots all winter so they have to look good and feel comfy too, these are perfect. He also bought me a jumper, a pair of grey cord trousers and he`s told me he`s getting me something else too, I wonder what it can be? :o) Kerry and Slava bought us a theatre tickets voucher for any show we want to see, we are thrilled and plan to book tickets to see We Will Rock You, the Queen musical, we`ve always wanted to see it and now we can....very soon I hope. Danny bought me vouchers for Next, one of my favourite shops but I think I`ll wait until the Spring collection comes in, I really don`t need anything at the moment and I don`t want to but for the sake of spending it. Roman bought me a set of Bailey`s, 2 small bottles and a decorative glass. The bottles have been emptied ( hic!) and the glass is on show with all my other Christmas ornaments. I also got loads of `smellies` and mountains of chocolates so all in all I think I did very well indeed.
Before I go I want to wish you all a:
again.........! Have a lovely evening and a wonderful 2008. Bye Bye. :o)
