Goodbye to Christmas

Photobucket

What a busy morning I`ve had, well two days actually. We`ve been packing whats left of the Christmas stock away and I had to do the forestry (garlands, wreaths, artifial flowers etc.) and it took forever. I had to put all the matching ones together, count them, check the price codes and tie them together. I hadn`t realised quite how many there were until I started this task but I`m glad its all done, at least until next year when they all have to come out again. It won`t be long until Easter....I`m not joking either, we expect Easter eggs very soon!

Yesterday afternoon Kerry came over and we went to Windsor for the afternoon. Roman came running to see me when I got home...I haven`t seen him for nearly a fortnight and I`ve really missed him but one of his cuddles goes a long way, bless him.  He followed me upstairs while I got ready to go out and he kept saying "Hurry up Nana,  lets go out now!" so I duly obeyed...lol! He still has the remains of his cold and has a cough and dark circles under his eyes but he is alright in himself and has a good appetite so he`s doing fine. I bought a new pair of shoes for work as I was really desperate, my old ones have holes in and I`m fed up with my feet constantly getting wet. They aren`t exactly pretty and weren`t cheap but are very comfortable (v.important) and will probably last longer than the last pair which I bought when I started there 15mths ago. It was really nice to be able to walk outside the centre and not have to avoid the smallest puddles. We were going to the river to feed the ducks but the river was very high and in some places had burst its banks so we decided against it. Roman was not to be dissuaded and kept asking when we were going to feed the ducks but luckily he fell asleep thus avoiding him being disappointed.

Yesterday morning I did the silliest thing. When I left for work I jumped in the car, started the engine and put on the wipers to clear what I thought was a wet windscreen....it wasn`t, it was solid ice and my wiper broke up! Well there was no frost which is why I hadn`t realised but still I was cross with myself, now I had to buy a new wiper blade....grrr! Luckily Jim is on late shift and he fixed it temporarily with a couple of elastic bands so I could drive safely to work.

This morning Jim attended the funeral of our BIL`s Mum who passed away on New Years Eve. It`s particulary hard for him and his two sisters because the 25th Jan is the first anniversary of the death of their own Mum, I can`t believe twelve months have passed already. On that solemn note I`ll say goodbye for now. Have a nice afternoon and take care.

Glad Roman is doing so much better and I know how happy you were to see him.  Easter eggs, dare not even think about it. Christmas seems such a long while ago now.  Sorry to hear about your wiper, we have had no frost here, just damp and drizzly.

Wow, it doesn't seem like you've been working at the garden center for 15 months.  It seems like only yesterday when you were agnoizing over the phone call saying you had the job. Happy to hear Roman is feeling better. The temp here this Wednesday morning is just a little over 22 degrees. But at least the sun is shining.  Linda in freezing cold Washington state

Hi Sandra we don't have a fancy car it just a Ford but they have come up with the best idea around its a heated windscreen so no more scraping Stuart says its the best gadget ever.  Glad to roman is well again.  Love Joan.

We've got a heated windscreen like Joan (#11) and it's wonderful.  Cears the screen in no time.  I wish we had seat heaters too.  A friend of mine has a Volvo with heated seats.  Soooo cosy.

I can see Roman now running into your arms...how sweet that is. `Things can happen concerning the wiper...many times I turned my own on, thinking it would just wipe it down...not so all the time.  Prayers for Jim and his family...also may his memories of his Mom stay strong in his heart.  Hugs and love,
Joyce

You must be in England .. I know I'm a great detective! LOL.  You don't have the UK journal so that is why I was originally thrown.  How far are you from Windsor?
I lived a year in Maidenhead which isn't far from Windsor. :-)  I want so badly to return and visit ... see if I can find my old home and my school and main street (the easiest on my list).

I've done that to windshield wipers too.  It was solid ice but, it just looked wet.  Nope.  I didn't break the wipers because they wouldn't move.  Guess I was lucky.

Thank you for stopping by my journal and offering support/prayers for my granddaughter, Amelia.  It was appreciated very much.

When it comes to shoes you're going to be walking and standing in a lot, comfort is the important thing!

Hi Sandra,
So glad to hear that little Roman is now over his cold and getting better and better :).
I'm curious as to what brand of shoe you bought? I have bought my fare share of shoes that work well in the garden or a "wet" atmosphere, and paid dearly for them. But they didn't seem to last as long as I would have liked. Hope your do---they sound great!

Have a great day!

Glad Roman is getting better. Too bad he couldn't get to feed the ducks.
I agree with you that another Christmas is behind us for another year. I'm ready for warm weather, tulips, daffodils and green grass. LOL And lower utility bills. 'As your entry title says "Goodbye to Christmas".
