Wafflin` On...and On

Hello Everyone,

It`s Friday at last, why I`m saying that I don`t know but I used to say it all the time when I was working.  Old habits die hard and all that!  Talking of working, I`ve applied for one job this week and I was checking a few websites this afternoon but there seems to be nothing at the moment.  I checked B&Q`s site and though they have several jobs in Slough they are for electricians, plu, mbers, interior designers etc.  Oh well, I`ll keep plugging away and asking around the High Street stores.  The job I`ve applied for is in the garden centre as a general assistant.  I`ll let you know if I get an interview but somehow I doubt whether they will.  I really thought that I`d have no problem finding work.  I remember telling a colleague at Royal Mail that it would only take me a couple of weeks...hah, how naive was that?

I had what I thought was a really good entry planned for today, and there lies the problem.  I always get ideas first thing in the morning but I don`t post until the afternoon.  Plus, I`m just not a planner.  The words just spill out as I go along and the idea just doesn`t feel right by then.  I know many of you are great planners and it shows in the high quality of your entries, but as for me I`ll only do it for a special occasion, when I really have no choice.  That`s me I`m afraid, a bit odd sometimes, but there you are...lol!

This morning I went into town without Kerry or Jim.  I`d got as far as the main roundabout before the car park and I stalled the car at the lights.  I can`t tell you the words that were going through my head at that moment, especially when I tried to start the car again and flooded the engine...grrr! Anyway, I didn`t panic and eventually she started again ( big sigh of relief) and drove safely into town.  My first port of call was Wilkinsons where I buy toiletries, cleaning products etc. I couldn`t believe it when I walked through the door.  The store had been moved around, just like Tescos yesterday, only this time not only had the goods been moved but the aisles too. I didn`t know where to start and it took me ages to find stuff that usually I find straight away.  Why do they do this...is it...

a)  A cynical ploy to make you look at other goods and realise that you need them and end up spending more than you intended.

b)  It forces you to walk around a lot more, thereby keeping the customers fitter so they will be able to visit the store for many years to come.

or c)  Just so the management can have the pleasure of annoying the life out of the paying public.

I`m sure A is the real reason but prsonally I would plump for C because that`s exactly what it does to me.

Of course shopping on my own wouldn`t be complete without having a look at something for myself, and I couldn`t break a habit of a lifetime now could I...lol!  I went into Primark and come out 30 mins later a very satisfied customer.  I bought a pair of chocolate brown trousers and a black cardigan for £5 each and a really nice black handbag for £4.  The trousers are excellent quality and I might treat myself to a pair in another colour as they mix and match very well.  The handbag matches a pair of shoes that I have and the cardigan will look nice over a blouse.  Oooh, I do like shopping epecially when it`s a bargain!

This afternoon Jim collected Marshal, our friends German Shephard dog.  He simply adores Jake who likes him as well but does like to have some time to himself as well.  In the evenings, he stays with us in the living room while Marshal is confined to the kitchen.  He is a very hairy beast and my kitchen floor is a right mess already, oh well never mind, we only have him for the weekend.  Oh I forgot, at the beginning of October we have him for a fortnight!!!  Anyway, my friends, I hope you all have a lovely evening and a restful weekend.  Take care and Bye Bye for now. :o)

I hate that when they change the layout of store around.  They do that all the time here too.  The one grocery store I go to most of the time is being remodeled...so heaven only knows where everything will end up when they are finished with the project.  It's alsways nice to find a bargain especially when it's for oneself.   Linda in WA

Wish we had a Primark near here, I keep hearing of all the great stuff people buy and it annoys me cos there is not a Primark near Kettering!!!! Seems our Tesco's here has done what your Tesco's has done......changed everything around, aaaaagh, we could not find a lot of all the stuff we wanted today but that might have been because we have not been in there for a while as well!!!!

We have two enormous Primark stores here in Brighton, their clothes are good value and normally well made. Our Boots store moved the whole shop around so the aisles went across the shop instead of up and down! I didn't like it so I stopped going in there! I hope you can find a job soon, the Garden Centre one would be good, I wouldn't mind doing that! Have a great weekend! Jeannette xx  http://journals.aol.co.uk/jlocorriere05/Welcometomytravels

Hi Sandra!  You sure are having bad luck as far as the stores being rearranged.  Maybe it's a conspiracy? <smile>
Glad you found some nice things for yourself.  That's always fun!  Good luck on the job hunt.  I'm sure something will come along that is just perfect for you.
OH...and I love your entries...don't worry about "planning" them because your entries are always very nice.  To me it seems like you DO plan them!  Always nice and organized and great graphics.  My favorite is when you put pictures, though, I must admit!  Especially of that angel face grandson of yours!

Hello! Sandra..I've come to the conclusion that the Stores...are getting ready for CHRISTMAS, moving things in order to get stock on the shelves.
But we don't like change, and get used to where things are...saves time!

But I like your waffle - it is real that's why it is worth reading ;)

Hope you can find a job there should be a lot of retail jobs coming up for Christmas you might be lucky there.  Changing the layout in stores I remember ing the produce we had summer and winter settings.  German shepherds coat are a nightmare we had one many years ago and I could take a bucket full of undercoat from Jason when he was casting his coat.  Have a good weekend. Oh hello there...I think these stores find out about the psychology of shopping and then rearrange according to the latest developments or discovery of human habit...LOL.  I only say that b/c my "car book" is on the psychology of shopping...it's called "Why We Buy" (I think).
Take care.

Hi Sandra.......I am doing better and so is my mom. Thanks for your kind words. I do hope that that the people at the garden centre call you for the job. I'm sure that you would do well there. I can't say that I am a good planner. We don't have a Wilkinsons here but we do have a CVS and a Walmart. We all have to buy something nice for ourselves once in a while. Hobo hasn't returned but my mom said that its likely that someone has him. I hope they enjoy Hobo as we did. Take care my dear friend. Tell everyone in your family I said hello.

I battle with Tesco's online every week, as I can't carry/lift my own shopping. Their website has had so many changes, it's now like negotiating your way around Hampton Court maze. Wouldn't mind, but half their regular lines are permanently "temporarily out of stock" and purchasing salad leaves is a recipe for disaster - they're all sad and bad!
Keep laughing.

They're out to get you those Supermarkets!!
I used to find that at my Tesco's, before I started shopping online, every time I went in - it seemed - they had moved things around.  Grrr!

Shopping is great when you get those bargains. Sorry about your car stalling. It's so frustrating.  My son's just left for 6 weeks and I have his 2 toddlers. They were at their Mother's all weekend. So the fun begins. They've been living with us for 6 mos.  Hopefully we'll all adjust to this new "chain of command" without too much fuss.
Good luck with your job applications.  Have a wonderful week.
