Hello Everyone,
It`s been a gorgeous day here and I`ve been out for most of it. This morning I did Tescos and this afternoon I went to Windsor with Kerry. I woke this morning at 6am after getting all of four hours sleep. I just couldn`t get to sleep at all. I was too hot, I couldn`t get comfortable and after a while I didn`t even feel tired. Anyway, once I was awake I got up, had breakfast and got ready to go shopping, despite still being half asleep. Shopping was uneventful and after getting home and unpacking it all I sat outside with Jim, eating chocolate brioche and drinking coffee. We sat there putting the world to rights for about an hour before Jim had to get ready for work and I could have a lie down before I went out for the afternoon with Kerry and Roman.
Of course, nothing ever goes to plan and I couldn`t get to sleep so I went online for a while, read some emails, did Stuart`s quiz and played a few games. I have to tell you that Roman is walking now, he started properly yesterday afternoon before Kerry left for work. One minute he was walking along the settee, the next he crossed the room to Jim. It was so funny as we all applauded him, he must wondered what was going on! Now I suppose they`ll be no stopping him, he enjoyed walking on the grass in Windsor`s Alexandra Gardens, much to the delight of passers by, who stopped to speak to him and were treated to one of his broadest smiles. It was really hot this afternoon, though there was a South Easterly breeze to keep us cool. It`s amazing to think that the weather is still so good when it`s almost October. Surely it can`t go on much longer? Later went to Costa`s coffee house and had latte for Kerry and a cappuchino for me. It`s inside Windsor station, a fascinating place as it`s full of designer shops, trade stands, coffee houses and restaurants but it`s still a working train station, albeit with only one track and train which runs between Windsor and Slough. Then it was home with Roman absolutely worn out and Kerry and I not far behind him. We had a lovely afternoon though, enjoying the sunny weather while we still can.
Remember I told you all about Puri, the lady at Jim`s Mum`s nursing home who recently celebrated her 100th birthday? Well, apparently the photographer from the local newspaper failed to turn up, which seems a real pity as they have missed a very interesting story about Puri and her long life. Her family told the staff at the home that when she was a young woman back in Spain at the time of the Spanish Civil War, she risked her life saving 4,000 children by bringing them all to England. We were stunned when we heard about it as she had told nobody about it at the home, despite having an excellent memory she chose to keep it secret. She is certainly a brave and amazing woman and it goes to show you never can tell what people have done in their lives if they choose not to tell you.
I really must go now, I have loads of journals to read and I`m really tired as you can guess. My cold came to nothing and now I`m waiting for it to come back and knock me for six as often happens..lol! I hope you`ve all had a lovely day, take care and Goodnight. :o)

Well done Roman for walking. Didn't he look grown up too! Bless him, he looks such a happy little soul! He can come round here and tear my bills up if he likes! Lol! Puri does indeed sound like an amazing lady, who'd have thought it. I always wonder when I see old people what they did in their young lives. Glad you had a good day with Kerry and Roman in Windsor. hi Sandra...
is'nt it nice to see Roman walking, you will have to have eyes at the back of your heads watching out for him...best wishes!
Astra!
Beautiful pictures! Roman is so beautiful! Getting big right before our eyes! Such an angel.
Love the pics of Windsor Castle, too! I'd love to visit there sometime. If I ever make it there we'll have to go out for coffee, deal?
Interesting about Puri. Maybe she was afraid to tell anyone when she was young and it just sort of got put on the back burner. Elderly people are very interesting if only we'd take the time to allow them to tell their stories.
