Hello Everyone,
I`m just checking the time, I`m a bit late this evening. I`ve been running around all day doing this and that, food shopping this morning, lunch at the garden centre cafe with Jim. I suppose that will come to an end now that I`m working there, I don`t get a break as I`m only there for four hours so either Jim has lunch with me at 2pm when I finish work or he goes there alone while I work...lol! Thanks so much all of you for your support, it`s been so nice that you were all behind me while I waited for the call that told me I`d been accepted for the post. To those of you who hadn`t read my earlier entries about the job, it`s in a well known garden centre and I`ll be manning the till/cash register as my main job, but I`ll also be doing other jobs around the shop, and sometimes outside if they are short staffed. The job will most likely suit me because I like to keep busy and also I don`t mind getting my hands dirty if the job requires it. It`s a really nice feeling to be given a job at age 54 because I`m almost certain I`ve been turned down before because of my age though I could never have proved it, companies are too clever for that. Never mind though, I`m really happy to be given a chance and so is Jim and the rest of the family. Jim was delighted when I told him for the same reasons as me. He told me his company hire people of any age as long as they have the qualifications required for the job. He should know, he was 49 when he started working there.
I went to Matalan with Kerry this afternoon, she needed to by Roman some new clothes and I needed some clothes for work until I get my uniform. I have some black jeans that will do for the time being but I also need a couple of dark coloured polo shirts which I couldn`t find at all. Hopefully I`ll pick some up in the High Street tomorrow. I did find a nice pair of shoes in Brantano show warehouse. I wanted comfortable and hard wearing and was very pleased with my choice, I`m going to be on my feet for four hours so they had to be good.
I also have to take my passport, plus a copy of it, my birth certificate, my P45 and my bank details, so I collected them up and sorted out the copy. Hopefully I won`t forget to take them with me on Monday but knowing me......! Then the car seat arrived, just a couple of days after we ordered it. Jim has fitted it already and Roman has tried it for size and seems to approve. Tomorrow I`ll pick him up with Kerry to go to Snakes and Ladders, it`ll be nice to drive them around for a change. Did anyone watch Wire in the Blood on TV last night? I do like that programme even if it is a bit on the violent side. I don`t think there`s anything worth watching tonight, Jim is watching a horror DVD that he bought the other day...ugh, it certainly isn`t my cup of tea, give me a good costume drama any day!
I`m glad you enjoyed the tale of the haunted dentures I posted yesterday. I don`t know how true it is but I just had to post it. Haunted dentures indeed...lol! I`m going to finish here now and go and read some journals and if I have time play a bit of Bookworm. Have a lovely evening, Bye Bye for now. :o)
Thank you Nancy for this lovely sig tag

I know you are going to enjoy that job Sandra. Good job you got sensible shoes as you will be standing a good deal. I am sure you will find suitable work clothes and knowing you, they will be very smart. Pity I do not live nearer and could get out more because I could pop in and buy something from you. As for having lunch with Jim, I bet you will be glad just to get home after a mornings work.

I am glad that you got a job that can use your abilities to accomplish whatever is asked of you. You will enjoy the atmosphere of being someone that has skill to handle transactions with the public. I was only able to work 3 hours today doing light work on my cabin before I had to lay down because of the nerve pain in my hip. With my worker doing the lifting we were able to get in about 10 hours of work this week on my kitchen addition project. The importance is that it is done correctly and I am not worried about when the roof will be on. All of the lumber will weather the elements and other materials will be covered or stored in a dry place. I am still waiting to find out if the Medicaid will approve my going to the back specialist orthopedic surgeon. I am going to post an entry this weekend showing the work that has be done on the addition. Best wishes on the new job, mark
i surely hope you enjoy this new job....at the place i work, they hire up into someone's 90s!
love,lisa
I love the signature tag with the peach roses; lovely! Your entry sounds so happy and bubbly. You got so much done and you will be ready to go on Monday. I'm excited for you! Can't wait to hear how it goes.

HI Sandra...I love your down to earth attitude and popping to the shops with you when you hunt for new clothes etc ..lol what I am puzzled about is WHY you need to show your passport...when you are already providing the other docs ???? I thought it was only banks and the like identity had to be proved !!! Crazy world now.....lets face it the crooks can aford to have perfect fraudulent ID done.....rant over !! lol Eve x
Sounds like your already to start - well done once again xx :-)
