Hello Everyone,
It`s yet another gorgeous day and again I took advantage of the weather, this time by taking Jake for a long, leisurely walk. I didn`t want to clean anymore windows or find some more housework . We walked further than I intended, soaking up the sun as I went long. On the return journey I always take a shortcut through an alley with bushes on either side, I always check that no-one is behind me as I go in....just to be on the safe side. Today however I came across something that I would rather not have seen. For those of a delcate nature, skip to the next paragraph but one and please look away now.
I saw a man paying a call of nature, right there in front of me!!!! I was not amused and Jake even less so and barked furiously, obviously aware that this was not a normal situation. The man ran for it, it must have put him off being confronted by a snarling hound, and he certainly was snarling at this point. I was glad he`d gone but was very concerned that it could have been a child, considering the bushes back on to a primary school. Calling the police would have been a waste of time as he`d gone by now and he`d hardly have waited around for them to arrive would he? Oh well, that was my bit of excitement for the day, though I could have done without it!
Have any of you been plagued by insects lately? Apart from the enormous spiders ( I found one in my wardrobe this morning!) We seem to be in the middle of a plague of daddy-long-legs, they are everywhere and last night while readingin bed, one of them kept flying in my face so I spent the next couple of minutes leaping around the room with a rolled-up newspaper, intent on fattening the little so-and-so. Which of course I did, with gusto! But of course, as soon as I`d thrown its battered body out of the window, another flew in, and another etc...grrr! I gave up, turned out the light and went to sleep. Yesterday afternoon whilst hanging out the washing I saw a huge dragonfly that I`ve not seen before. It was about 3" long with a large yellow and black striped body, after much searching on the net I still havent found out what species it is. Any ideas?
I had a very enjoyable afternoon with Roman yesterday, he`s really changed since I saw him a week ago. He is walking after a fashion. He uses his fingertips to balance whilst running along the furniture, then quickly letting go as he jumps across to another armchair. Also he seems more like a `boy` and not a baby. he`s starting pointing at things saying " ook " and he`s sooo lovable too, he keeps cuddling me and Jim, what a sweetie he is, bless him!
Jim had a great day fishing. He caught 19 fish, 16 carp and 3 other fishy things. He said they weighed over 60lbs in total, AND to cap it all, he caught the sun and he was already brown from holiday. It`s not fair, I want to be that colour, but I never could as my skin is fairer than his....sulk! Today`s he`s working an overtime shift and tomorrow we have the day together which likely means a drive up the motorway, lunch at the garden centre and a vist to our friends, Marshal`s owners, and then of course Roman will be here in the late afternoon. That should keep me busy for most of the day.
Going back to my walk this morning, I noticed that some of the trees, notibly the Horse Chestnuts, are shedding there leaves already, the conkers have been left behind and they look quite naked without them. I`ve never seen that happen before, it must be something to do with the hot,dry summer we`ve had. The Maples however, have not even begun to change colour. I hope they do so we can see their beauty before the eventually fall. I`m sure there`s something else I have to tell you but if there is, it`s gone back into the recesses of my mind. If it comes back I`ll duly make a note and tell you later...lol! For now, my friends, I`ll take my leave. I hope you all have a lovely day, take care and Bye Bye for now. :o)
Oh yes, that`s it....I have a cold...sniff sniff!

I am SOOO glad you had Jake with you when you came upon that man. He would never bother you with Jake there.
We've been getting mosquitos and spiders. Mostly outside in my yard, but once in awhile in the house too. I usually leave the doors open (screens closed) and they come in and I find them at night. UGH..hate that. The worst are the CRICKETS though! They are LOUD! If one is in my bedroom singing...I can't sleep until he's met his maker!
I'm so glad you enjoyed Roman so much. He's really progressing on his walking skills, isn't he? Such a love.
Have a great evening.

September is jenny long loegs month - they are lovely creatures............;)
I've often seen men 'marking their territory' in the street. Would we be arrested if we did it?! Animals! I expect you did notice a difference in Roman, I'm glad he's getting on with his walking. Jim had a good day fishing didn't he?! All the creatures around, can't stand those daddy long legs or moths! Ugh! I hope the cold goes soon, fancy forgetting that you had it. Lol! Jeannette xx
Bet that scared the stuffing out of that man when Jake started barking at him LOL. Glad you had him along with you. Glad Jim had a good fishing day. Roman is surly learning fast. Hope your cold is better soon. Helen
You're right about the daddy long legs'. I've only noticed them the past couple of weeks but there are more than usual and they ALWAYS seem to aim for your face. I have kept a can of Raid by the bed all summer. Love, Angie, x

Good for Jake!!!! Hip Hip Hooray Jake!

What a thing to encounter on your walk. Good for Jake for sending him on his way. Cool weather must be sending the spiders in for warmth. I bet Roman is growing like a weed. Have a great Wednesday.

Oh my what a thing to see on your walk, thank goodness you had Jake with you, we seem to being having our fair share of daddy long legs aswell, as for spiders in your room I have been told that if you put a conker in the corner of each room you dont have spiders anymore, dont know how true it is, or if it works,
take care Lynne xx
I think I would have been real shocked to see that man peeing. . do be careful on your walks Sandra.Yes we have had loads of Jimmy long legs too and spiders.there always seem more when the rain comes.I love your new welcome photo. . .your hair looks lovely.
Eeeeeeeooooooowwwwwww!!!!! Why do some men whip their winkies out so indiscriminately? Good for your dog! As for the bugs, I think what you call "daddy long legs" my husband calls "mozzies". We had them last week, in droves, but none this week so far. They are so terribly frail but pesky!
