I`m Back, Come and See the Photos!

Hello Everyone,

I`m back!  We had a really lovely week in the depths of darkest Dorset, well it certainly wasn`t dark, apart from the day we arrived when there were gales and heavy rain.  No really, it was really lovely, the weather was beautiful from Sunday onwards and I`m really brown too.  The last time I was this colour was after our holiday in Florida, who would have thought that after a truly awful August that September would be be hot and sunny again?

Our cottage was a nice as always despite the rain lashing down on our arrival.  After we unpacked we ventured out for a while to look at a very angry looking sea. I could certainly see why the rugged Dorset coast has claimed many ships over the years.  One of the wrecks can be seen at low tide, it`s remaining timbers looking like a skeleton sitting on the jagged rocks.  Like I said the next morning was beautiful leaving us free to enjoy ourselves in our Summer clothes, not shrouded in raincoats like the day before. We visited Bowleaze Cove and flew a kite on the clifftop, we really did have fun and wound up the afternoon by having tradition Dorset cream tea in a nice little cafe at the top of the cliff.  Slava had to go home Sunday evening as he had to work the next day, his boss wouldn`t let him book this weeks holiday even though he knew Kerry and Roman were coming...bah!  Roman seemed to really enjoy himself in Dorset, he didn`t seem to stop eating the whole time we were there and he just loved the beach.  He seemed to know that sand was fun and straight away started to dig furiously with his hands, burying his little legs at the same time...lol!  Of course, like anything else, he had to eventually put some in his mouth, which didn`t really bother him but Kerry had to rinse it out with bottled water, making Roman giggle and blow the water out all over her...lol!

Jake also had a terrific time, getting about five walks a day in the field next to the cottage.  He made friends with the local dogs, including a six month old Border Collie called Lily who really raced around the field with Jake vainly trying to catch her up.  I`m afraid Labradors just aren`t built for speed!

It`s such a pity that we can`t live in Dorset but it just wouldn`t be practical.  The countryside suits both myself and Jim and property is much cheaper but from the work point of view in just wouldn`t work out.  Jim`s job is specific and the nearby airports aren`t big enough for Jim`s company to have an outlet.  For me it wouldn`t be a problem as there are so many jobs around I could probably find one immediately.  Never mind though, we will always visit yearly as we`ve met some nice people over the years and in the event of the cottage being sold there are lots of places we can stay.

All in all in was a smashing holiday, we`ve recharged our batteries and are ready to face the rat-race again.  Now I have to seriously look for a job before I run out of money altogether, I`ve been too half-hearted in the past and with Christmas fast approaching (ouch!) I have a family to buy presents for!

Right, that`s all from me tonight.  I`m sure I`ve forgotten things from my hols that I wanted to share, I`m sure they`ll come back to me another time though.  I`m looking forward to reading your journals again, take care my friends and Night Night. :o)

Glad that you enjoyed your holiday Sandra.  I love all the pictures and the great kite and little Roman of course.  We would also like to live in the country but we could not leave the family and Dean is tied down with his job and it would be difficult to re-locate and it would mean a drop in salary which does not go with having a young family.  Still, we have some countryside around here and the coast, not that I go there but Jim would love fishing off the pier!!!!  Have a great week, going to be roasting tomorrow so they say but it will not last.

So love that area, but not visited for a long time now. In fact the last time I was in Weymouth, was on a New Years Eve.

Oh, how I enjoyed your pictures!  I can understand why you would want to live in such a beautiful place.  The swans are so gorgeous!  I love the one of mother and youngsters.  Roman is getting so big!  He's beginning to really take on the look of a toddler instead of baby.  Did you cry all the way home?  I think I would have shed some tears leaving that beautiful place.  So glad you had fun, got a tan and some rest!

Hi Sandra. I'm so glad you had a wonderful time and made it back safely.  What a lovely place you vacation at. WOW!  And your pictures are so beautiful! I had to laugh at Roman "disappearing" under the sand!  The one of Kerry and him is gorgeous. He's growing up fast right before our eyes!  I really enjoyed your pictures.  I wish there was one of you, though.  Thanks so much for sharing them!
