Hello everyone,
A much earlier entry from me for a change. I thought it would be a good idea to post an entry before I read journals, just for change. Ever a creature of impulse me...lol! It`s still very hot and humid but still bearable, maybe I`m just getting used to it after the temperatures we`ve had this Summer. I`ve been wearing vest tops and shorts for ages now as it`s been far too warm for proper clothes, except last Friday when it became quite cool and, horror of horrors, I wore a sweat top and trousers!
Kerry and Slava popped in this morning with a rather spotty Roman, he is covered in a heat rash that luckily, doesn`t seem to be bothering him too much. He doesn`t seem too bothered about the heat but is a bit cross because his teeth are playing him up. I suppose none of us know how painful it was to cut teethy, it`s not as though we can remember is it?!
I`ve been doing a bit of tidying up in the garden, cutting back dead wood, dead-heading etc. I`ve noticed some odd things going on out there too. The magnolia has started to flower again, unheard of, at least for my tree. On one of the yellow petunia plants, a small mauve flower has bloomed. It`s similar in shape to the petunia but with less fragile petals. Has anyone ever seen this happen before? One of the climbing roses is still flowering even though it should be dormant at the moment and don`t even begin to get me started about the influx of odd-looking insects out there, some of them look positively alien!
This morning while Jim was buying petrol he saw a man leaning on the bonnet of his car reading the paper (as you do at petrol stations!) and....smoking a cigarette. Instead of confronting the man and getting a mouthful of abuse he told the station manager who was very alarmed and went a told the man to to put it out at once. It is unbelievable that the man didn`t realise the dangers of fuel and flame together. Jim works with fuel all day long and knows that the danger isn`t in the fuel itself but in the fumes that you don`t see. He`s not even allowed to have his mobile phone switched on as a spark could ignite the lot. If that had happened in the petrol station I shudder to think of the consequences of that man`t stupidity.
I`ve spent much of the morning doing the ironing and clearing up. Tomorrow I`m going into hospital for a minor op that will be done om Tuesday. I will be home that evening so I won`t be away for long. There is the distinct possibility that after admission tomorrow I`m be home for the night and go back again the next day for surgery. It sounds a bit daft but apparently they do it to stop doctors filling the beds with new patients which would in effect slow down their surgery lists. Confused? Not as much as I am...lol! I`ve told Jim that tomorrow morning I`ll be taking lunch in a cool bag as I`m not prepared to eat hospital food. It`s bad enough having to be there without the thought of the food as well. Anyway, that`s it from me. Have a lovely relaxing Sunday, take care and Bye Bye for now. :o)

Our weather has cooled down a lot...hope yours will too soon. Poor little Roman and now the heat rash. Hope it clears soon. He is just so cute! Sounds like that guy could have blown the whole place up, had Jim not taken action and sought after the manager...good for him. Some people just don't think.
Hope you have a wonderful week ahead Sandra, Hugs and love,
Joyce
the hospital food i ate 2 months ago was mouth watering and DELICIOUS! I am so sorry you are going to the hospital for an operation...and this is the 1st you have mentioned it. Be safe and know you are in my thoughts.
What an idiot to smoke while gassing the car.
Love,lisa
Sorry to hear you have to go into hospital and wish all goes well for you. Remember to take a book for when you are waiting if thats possible. Take care Love Joan.
That's amazing that someone would be so stupid to stand in a gas station smoking. A lot of people aren't even aware of the cell phone danger. I'll keep you in my prayers regarding your hospital visit. Linda in WA
That was so dangerous that man smoking near the gas tanks. Wonder where he was raised not to know that. Hope your surgery goes well on Tues. I will be having my other back procedure on Tues also. The food is really good at one of the hospitals here. Ken and I go there quite often to get carry out plates to go. Hugs, Helen
Sandra, you will be in my thoughts tomorrow and Tuesday with your op. I hope you will be home Tuesday night. Very sensible to take food with you, hospital food is disgusting. I cannot comment on the flowers because I have not had that happen, our geraniums are the best this year but they love hot weather which is why they grow them in Italy and other warm places. As for bugs, hardly seen any. We did see one butterfly today, the first of the year.
Mike would have reported that man as well as he worked with fuel all his working life and would immediately know the dangers. It is hard to believe that some people are so stupid.
Once again, good luck dear friend and.......try to leave the doctors alone lol

Best of luck with the op, I'd take food too! Poor old Roman, my son used to get heat rash. One day the school nurse insisted I take him home as she thought it was measles! Silly man smoking at the petrol station, some people have no brains! Jeannette xx
I'll be keeping you in my prayers while you are in the hospital. Speedy recovery!

It is good to catch up with your entries. I really enjoyed seeing the pictures from the dog show. I've been so busy that I haven't had time to read many journals in the last two weeks but now life is back to normal and I hope to keep up better. I will keep you in my prayers during your hospital trip. Hope everything goes well.
Kathy
Good luck with the op. As for vest tops and shorts - I Wish!! Would look like a stack of tyres on two pea sticks. Oh, the joys of being in my 60th year! Keep laughing.
