Hello everyone,
I hope you`re having a great Thursday, it`s cooler today than it has been but still mild, if you see what I mean. You probably know by now that there is a top security alert at all our airports today. Jim is really pleased that it`s his day off today because he reckons he be sitting around all day doing nothing. If the planes aren`t going anywhere they won`t need any fuel. I really feel for the people who are supposed to be flying today but better the disruption than a major incident. The Home Secretary, John Reid said this is very, very serious and I hear that two men have been arrested, but for what I don`t know. We have friends returning from a holiday in Egypt and should be in the air at the moment, my guess is that they will still be at Sharm-el-Sheikh airport waiting to be told their plane can land in the UK.
Right, changing the subject from doom and gloom, I`ve had a reeally nice day myself. Tescos this morning, though Jim drove because I`m not allowed to until tomorrow, and then to the garden centre cafe for lunch. It was nice to be out and about doing normal things instead of moping about indoors. I popped into the doctors surgery to see the practise nurse about my poor swollen throat. She told me it`s not infected but badly bruised from the intubation tube. She said that sometimes they can be a bit rough putting the tube in..ROUGH ? I can hardly swallow it`s so painful, I don`t ever remember it being this bad before...grrr!
I`ve found a couple of old photos that I thought you might like to see:
Kerry aged 13 , Daniel aged 11 and Jim aged 36 with hair and much slimmer, bless him! None of them know that I`ve posted this photo and I don`t intend telling them...lol!
This is the wedding photo of my Nanna and Grandad, Emily Ellen Scott and Charles William Smith. They were married sometime in 1912 in Chatham, Kent but the exact date is unknown. Grandad drove an ambulance along the front lines in France in WW1 but was invalided out in 1917. I don`t know what happened to him but he walked with a heavy limp afterwards. My Dad was the second child of five children that lived to adulthood, I know for sure that there was one other who died just after birth. Their eldest child, my Auntie W is still alive aged 92, and is still in good health.
I forget to tell you that at last I have Bookworm back on the computer. In the end I paid for it again because I didn`t want any more hassle from Yahoo, they were as much use as a chocolate teapot and I won`t be asking them for help again ...lol!
On Saturday morning Kerry and Slava finally move into their new flat. I`ll have Roman from 10am and will take him home in the evening. I expect we`ll be taking him out in the afternoon, there is a really good playground for tinies at Black Park so I think we`ll go there and give Jake a walk at the same time. Tomorrow we are taking Roman to see his Great-Grandmother, Jim`s mum, and then to see his sister. It`ll give Kerry some much needed time to herself and us some quality time with the Little Man.
That`s it from me for today, I have journals to read, though not very many. J-Land seems very quiet today, it must be the Summer holidays! I hope you all have a lovely day, Take care and Bye Bye. :o)

I too feel bad for those who have to/or wanted to fly today in the midst of this chaos. My dear high school friend Judy & her friend Carolyn, are flying from San Diego to Seattle today, as they are going on our cruise Friday. On another note.......Sandra guess what???? We could be related....my maiden name is Smith, maybe we're 5th cousins, 6 times removed. I've tried doing the genealogy on my "Smith" side but it's almost impossible. Ok, back to the business at hand, Linda (ironing, and packing) Linda in WA
Yes awful news but ,shows how good the security is ,thank goodness the plot was discovered ,so glad you are feeling better and got your shopping done ,wont it be nice to to have Roman the next two days,Jims Mum will enjoy seeing him ,hope your throat soon feels better .........Jan xx
Security will be tighter for a while again, but thank God they foiled the plot. I hope your friends aren't going to be stranded too long. Sorry about your poor swollen and sore throat. Can you gargle with some very warm salt water? That might soothe it. Glad Kerry and Slava are getting settled. Love the old pics. Thanks for sharing them.
Have a good Friday. Hugs, Barb
Sorry your throat is still not better you will have to get out the ice cream that should do the trick. Did you lose a big score when you lost your game it can be very annoying. I like to get the CD when I buy a game just in case of a crash. Hope everything can get back to normal soon but better safe than sorry. Love Joan.
Hope your throat feels better soon dear.
Hated to hear about the Terroists! TG they were caught!!!
CONGRATS to the security team that got them!!!

Hi Sandra,
Loved your pictures, weren't people serious in the old days when they were having their photos taken?!
It must be awful for those about to travel by air, what a worrying time for them. I'm guessing Jim works at the airport, is that right?
I hope you enjoy your time with your grandson, it's a good idea to 'do the rounds' with him, I guess it'll stop him from getting bored too with so many people making a fuss of him!
Best wishes,
Pat
hi Sandra...
I hope you are feeling much better today...that is a lovely pic of your family and the old pic of your Nanna and Grandad is really nice, I like to see the very old pics and how they used to dress in those days...Best wishes and take care!
Astra!
I haven't heard about the airport thingy, I've just got in from work! I hope the weather is warmer for you when you go to the park at the weekend. Love the photos! Your nan and grandad look so serious, and rather smart on their wedding day! Hope Kerry and Slava's move goes smoothly! Jeannette xx
I thought about Jim all day ..So happy, like you that he did not have to work and deal with all of that today...how sad this is that we still live in fear of the unknown...I am so happy the UK caught those suspects...good job!!!! Sounds like you had a delightful day to yourself...and to help Kerry watch Roman is so nice too...she does need a break also at times...we all do!!! Loved all the photos...the kids and Jim look great...you take care and don't over do things...hugs and love,
Joyce
So much to catch up on in your journal Sandra! Love the pics! Bravo to the UK for catching the terrorists! Can't imagine if that plan had succeeded.

We're so grateful to the British Intelligence for stopping the attack before it happened. No one should mind a delay if they are safer. I hope your sore throat is getting better. That must hurt a lot! Enjoy your time with Roman! He's such an adorable little guy!
Kathy

Lovely to see the photos Sandra. Like them both but what a great photo of your grandparents, they never smiled in photos then did they? Hope the move goes well, no doubt you will be tired after having Roman for the day. Seems like our lives are never go to be the same again with all these terrorist threats. Makes me glad Mike and I do not fly.
Loved that pic of your family.....Kerry favors you very much. I am grateful no one was hurt in the attempts at terrorism....how awful!
I hope Kerry and Slava love their new home and i bet Roman will be confused for a bit but happy to be in a bigger place!
love,lisa
