I`m Back and Rarin` to Go!

Hello Everybody,

I`m so pleased to be back here in J-Land.  I`ve been sitting around twiddling my thumbs for the last fortnight, bored stiff.  Well not quite, but I have been getting withdrawel symptoms not being able to use the computer.  Luckily Kerry let me use hers but it wasn`t the same.  I wasn`t able to access my journal and though I could read , send and delete my emails it was a very slow process as she has dial-up.  How did I ever manage without broadband?  Mustn`t complain though, it was lovely of her to let me feed my addiction...lol!  On Friday 28th July, my darling little Roman had his first birthday, I can hardly believe that it has been a year already.  He got so many presents that Kerry`s flat looks more like Toys r`Us and they barely have any room for anything else.  Luckily they are moving to a bigger flat on the 12th Aug and Little Man will have his own room and the toys can all live in it with him!  So without further ado, I want to wish him ..............

I also notice that journals are now three years old, so a very happy birthday to them too.

Right, back to the day my computer crashed.  I was sitting here reading journals on the Thursday evening when the system shutdown without warning.  Each time I tried to restart it crashed again, and again and again.  Jim spoke to a friend who is a whizz with computers and he said it was most likely a virus and a very bad one at that, but he would see what he could do.  It has taken a while to fix because Jim`s mate is very busy but I knew if anyone could fix it he could.  It WAS a virus and it had to be re-formatted and we lost countless programs, including loads of AOL stuff and Bookworm.  I still have lots of  programs to put in but they can wait.  I have all I need for the moment except the sound which we just can`t get sorted out at the moment.  I`m sure we`ll get there in the end though.

On the same day as the crash we had an incident right outside our front door and it was really scary at the time.  I was looking after Roman when there was a knock on the door, I opened it to find a man trying to strangle a woman up against the wall by the door!  I quickly shut the door as Roman was in my arms but I heard the man run away and I opened it again.  The woman ran off too leaving a teenage girl sitting on the ground sobbing and being protected by her dog.  I comforted her as best I could and she told me that the woman was her mum and the `man` her brother.  He was attacking his own mother!!!  The poor girl said she had already called the police but her brother went for her too.  When she finally felt able to go home she kept apologising for knocking on my door.  I told her not to worry and that she did the right thing, though I was still very concerned.  A couple of days later I saw all three of them going out in their car as though nothing had happened, but I won`t forget what happened in a hurry I can tell you.

Oh Yes,  about the Crime House.  Jim saw a report in our local paper last week saying that the man who was arrested is applying for bail before he goes to trial.  No chance, said the judge,  he has to stay in prison where he has been for the last 18 mths....hmm....it MUST be serious then!

I have lots to say but I`ll save some for tomorrow.  Before I go I must thank you all for your good wishes since my enforced absence from J-Land and your welcome wishes on my return yesterday.  Special thanks to Jeannette (Jottings) for doing a posting explaining what had happened to me.  Until tomorrow, have a lovely evening.  Take care and Bye Bye for now.

I bet Roman had a wonderful Birthday and I bet you spoiled him rotten.  So glad you are back with us and I can imagine how frustrating it was for you being without your computer.  J-Land's official Birthday is the 21st August and I think Vivian is trying to come up with a special celebration.  What a terrible thing to happen on your own doorstep, that must have shaken you.  What a strange family.

Hope you stay virus free from now on. Just a thought maybe you gave your PC your virus that you had that week lol. Love joan.

Still on dial up, awaiting for BT to enable this area for broadband, hasn't been very helpful to me these past weeks. I'd start with all good intentions of making an entry, just to find my internet connection was running so slow - it proved too much for me. I write my journal and surf the net for pleasure but when you are out of your skull with worry (about hubby - whose still in hospital), depressed and physically exhausted, I just couldn't hack it. Shame really as journals would have been a balm at the time.
Lovely to hear from you, missed you very much.
Take care & lots of love,
Sylvia xxx
