Back From The Wag and Bone Show

Hello everyone,

I`m back from my day out at the Wag and Bone show totally exhausted.  It`s certainly been a smashing day though, we started out early, leaving home at 9.30 this morning.  The crowds were gathering when we arrived in Windsor Great Park ( wasn`t it nice of her Majesty The Queen to allow the show on her land) and there were the usual millions of dogs everywhere, well quite that many, but there were a lot!

This morning first thing, Jim took Jake for a run to take the edge off his energy levels.  It certainly did the trick and he walked nicely on the lead despite stopping to sniff every other dog that walked by.  There was loads for the dogs to do, Temptation Alley was a game where dogs have to run to their owners without stopping for treats that were left on the ground to distract them.  It was so funny to watch but I knew it wasn`t worth entering Jake as he`d eat all the treats on his way!  There was one game where the dog has to pick a toy from a paddling pool full of water.  Each toy is worth a prize and last year Jake won a Frolic ball which he still has.  There were lots of other games too but the queues were long and it was getting really hot so we decided against letting him overheat.  Instead we took him to one of the specially provided dog pools were they could cool down. Also provided were water bowls and wet towels throughout the grounds.  At this show the dog reigns supreme and their owners come a poor second but every dog deserves his day and today was it.

Later in the day we were talking to a stallholder at one of the trade stands when I heard a commotion in the crowd and a woman`s voice shout "Watch out, I can`t stop!", just as a invalid scooter drove straight into my leg and over my foot, pushing me into the stand before coming to a halt.  The driver didn`t even apologise as I rubbed my poor bruised foot.  Other people tut tutted at her but she and her daughter were only concerned about the scooter and was it damaged!  We made a hasty exit before she started the thing up again deciding retreat was the better part of valour...lol!

I did buy a few things today, a new duvet for Jake at a very reasonable price.  A fold up water bowl for Jake at just £1 and for a treat some hand made dog biscuits in the shape of squirrels...lol!  The fold up water bowl was a real bargain as they were priced at £7.50 at one stall and Jim told the man they were too expensive for what they were. We found we had to be careful as the prices varied quite a bit and some were a real rip off.  Anyway, when we decided to leave the show at 3.30 and take jake to Black Park for a swim, my back was killing me but I could manage a short walk through the woods....hmm...did I say short??  Jim couldn`t park in his usual place so we had to walk back quite a way to the lake where Jake had his swim.  We were worn out but Jake being Jake still had loads of energy ( it must have been the ice cream cornet I bought him at the show!) and kept stopping to see why we were lagging behind!  Never mind though, the walk was lovely and by the time we got home, weary and footsore, Jake fell fast asleep in the garden, woke for his dinner, went back to sleep where he is at this moment, snoring his head off.

Well, it`s been a long day and despite a bit of sunburn, a bruised foot, fighting off wasps, dropping some of the contents of my lunch on my trousers, extreme backache and an empty purse I have had a wonderful time.  I hope you`ve all had a lovely Saturday.  Bye Bye for now and take care. :o)

The dog show sounds great and something I would certainly have to have attended if I could.  The weather was good as well.  Your poor bruised foot, you are in the wars lately.  Great pictures and I had to laugh at Jake showing his appreciation in one picture!!!
