SUNDAY CHATTER

Hello everyone,

I had a day off yesterday as I`m was feeling just a bit down, most likely it was just one of those days, what with the gloomy weather we`ve been having.  It`s been so very grey, with no sign of the thing they call the sun at all.  I feel much better today, the sun was in evidence and it was unseasonally mild.  Not that it lasted very long, a cool wind started blowing and brought cloud cover and coolers temperatures, but it was nice while it lasted.  I walked Jake past the vet`s surgery with my CV clutched in my hand.  I didn`t expect them to be open but I thought they might have an external mailbox but they didn`t so I`ll have to drop it in tomorrow.  We walked on through the alley into Church Lane where we came across an almost tame blackbird.  It didn`t move until we were almost on top of it and then only into the hedgerow, it sat on a branch, no more than two feet away from me and regarded me with his beady eye.  I find blackbirds fascinating, I know they are plain and very common but they seem special somehow.  I see them in the garden all the time and have to laugh when they fight over who has the biggest worm. Last week I saw two of them tear a worm in half during a squabbel!

Danny stayed here last night and he wanted a break from his flat.  Now he has to move he has been spending time cleaning and making sure there is no damage.  He doesn`t want the landlord saying this or that needs doing and then knocking the cost off of his deposit.  Yesterday I checked through the flat`s inventory with him.  Jim repaired the wall where the curtain rail fell down and today he is going back to fix the curtain rail back again.  Danny says it doesn`t feel like home anymore and can`t wait to move out now, which he will do at the end of next month.  The area he lives in is more expensive to rent than if he were to so here.  But he needs to be close to his workplace and his girlfriend Salina.   I do worry about him but he`s told me there`s no need, when has that ever stopped a mother worrying about her son?

I`ve put a new counter on my journal as I thought it would be nice to have one that I like.  Jeannette sent me a site some time ago and I completely forgot about it.  In future J`ll keep an eye on the hits in case I lose it again or even want to change the style to suit the occasion.  The decorating is coming on, slowly because Jim is removing the varnish from the door surrounds and that is taking the time.  The smell of the varnish stripper is vile and the fumes get a bit much for Jim after a while, despite having the windows open.  It doesn`t bother me if it takes a while to get finished because I know it will get doen and there`s more light in the hallway now that hideous wallpaper has gone.  Perhaps I can start a new trend and leave the walls as they are....perhaps not, the walls have seen better days and a plasterer is out of the question this time.  I have ideas and it`ll look great when it`s finished, mark my words!

Well, I`ll say goodbye now. I have dinner to prepare and journals to read.  I hope you`ve all had a good day up till now and are enjoying what`s left of the weekend.  Take care. :o)

Men versus Women Giggles

How do you get a man to stop biting his nails?
Make him wear shoes.

Rename the mail folder "Instruction Manuals."

He buys two cases of beer instead of one.

When the crew gets lost in space, at least the woman will ask for directions.

Your graphics are cute today. I know you enjoyed your son being home last night.
The weather here today is sunshine after being pretty cold last night. The blackbirs are a nuisance here as there are so many that swarm together and can empty the bird feeder really quickly. I don't think a mother quits worrying about her children. Helen

I love blackbirds too, I saw one the other day, it hopped on to the wall I was passing and didn't move even when I was right next to it! Used to have a nearly tame one who came to my garden and would wait while I turned soil over then I had to wait while he rummaged for worms!! Varnish stripper is really potent isn't it?! Jeannette.

Sorry you are feeling a bit down...probably is the weather.  I know your Vet will hire you...just a feeling...if they need help you would be the best choice...hope it all works out.  Also, hope things go well for Danny too.  He sounds so mature telling you not to worry about him...wish I could have mine say the same thing to me someday.  My counter totally went back to 0.  I did not do it ...AOL screwed with it AGAIN.  I keep thinking it will go back to normal soon, but it has been 4 days now and nothing.  I really like yours!  Have a great Monday and keep us posted on the job front!
Hugs and love,
Joyce

Glad you got your counter fixed ok.  Blackbirds are little things. We still have a whole family from last summer in the garden. Love Joan.

Good luck with the job at the vets...Most mothers never stop worrying about their kids regardless of how old they get...My mum still worries about all of us and we range from 38-52 LOL  Caff xxx

Good luck with the vets job. Share your love of Blackbirds, even the brown hens. Ron and I went off watching the Red Kites today, there were loads of them about. Stayed in the car though, it was perishing. Take care.

I just deleted my counter.  I got tired of AOL deleting the hundreds of hits every few months.  I don't miss it, so guess it wasn't that important.  Pennie

I see that your counter is back with over 16 thousand hits.   I did not know that the counter could be formatted like yours with different color numerals.     Hope you get the job with the Veterinarian.        mark

Sounds like you've got a case of the winter blahs.  Yuk...me too.  Birds are fun to watch; I have a pretty good view of them from my desk, but haven't seen any fight over a worm yet.  LOL!  Love the new counter.  May have to check it out.  Sam and I are in the middle of a home improvement project...two projects actually; the kitchen and the outside deck.  Hope to have the kitchen finished by the end of the month, but the deck will have to wait until warmer weather.

Oh, and by the way, you've been tagged!  http://journals.aol.com/delela1/BlueSkiesandGentleBreezes/entries/1292
