A Great Evening Out

Hello everyone,

I`m back, and slightly the worse for wear today.  We had a smashing time last night and though I didn`t ha very much to drink I`m completely exhausted by too much dancing and a very late night, or should I say early morning...lol!

It turned out to be a great evening with lot`s of chat and laughter.  There were six of us travelling to the hotel together.  Jim organised an eight-seater vehicle to take us and collect us at the end of the evening and very comfortable it was too, a brand new Mercedes people carrier, not what we expected at a.  When we arrived at the hotel we were met with trays of champagne which we very gratefully took.  We had a table right next to the stage and the food, a good thing as usually we are seated so far away we`ve had to wait forever to eat, but last night we had the best table with the first choice of food.  The food was wonderful and we were spoilt for choice, but I settled for sauteed (?) potatoes in a sauce, vegetables and salmon and prawns in a seafood sauce, it was delicious.  There was a choice of steak with mushrooms or chicken in asparagus sauce and of course the salmon.  When it came to dessert, it was  unbelievable, there were so many different kinds of cheesecakes and gateau that I didn`t know where to start but I ended up with a white chocolate chip cheesecake with a dark chocolate base, it was delicious.  There was even a chocolate fountain with a pile of marshmallows on sticks, just waiting to be dipped in the liquid chocolate....guess who had to have a few of those...?!!!  We were certainly well taken care of food wise.

Jim`s mate Mark and his wife Mandy.

The cabaret consisted of a memory man...a bit boring I`m afraid!.....and the late night dancing.  The memory man was good but not right for an evening audience.  The poor man tried his best but there were two tables of people who had far too much to drink and were behaving appallingly towards him, shouting at him and telling him he was rubbish etc. Actually they were far ruder than that but I don`t neesd to go into detail.  Needless to say, they were all thrown out of the hotel leaving everyone else to enjoy the rest of the evening.  I`m pleased to say that none of them worked for the same company as Jim, just a subsidary of the group.

Me and my friend Bernice

Once the raffle was over (we didn`t win anything!) the dancing commenced and we were on our feet until 1am, which is why my feet ache today and I`m so very tired now.  I used to be able to dance all night, have a couple of hours sleep and wake up bright as a button.  Not anymore though, those days have long gone, I`m just grateful that my aged knees still work in the mornings...lol!

On friday night Roman settled but only after a fretful evening.  His teeth are making him really grumpy and he just wasn`t in the mood to play or be cuddled.  At bedtime he was exhausted but didn`t seem to want to go to sleep.  Eventually though I managed to soothe him and put him into his cot and he must have fallen asleep fairly quickly, poor little chap.  Kerry rang this morning and said that he`s been grouchy all weekend and just won`t settle...a sign of things to come, methinks.  Later this morning I did the ironing, though I`d rather have gone back to bed!  I soldiered on however, and finished the lot eventually.

Jim and Mark

This afternoon, I dragged Jim out for a walk with Jake.  I decided as it was a nice sunny afternoon, despite the very cold wind, and a long walk to blow away last night`s cobwebs seemed a good idea.  It was very  enjoyable, despite Jim trying to take shortcuts and complaining that he was tired out...lol!  I ignored him and we were out for an hour and feeling much better for the fresh air.  I hope you like the photos we took, I`ve just posted a few of them with our close friends, though Jim will copy the rest of them onto disc. I`d better go now and read some journals.  I hardly read any at all yesterday as I didn`t have the time though I`ll try to make up for it today.  Enjoy the rest of your Sunday, Bye for now.

You look just great...love your hair Sandra...the style is so pretty on you.  Jim looks great too...can't leave him out!  LOL  It sounds like you did have a wonderful time...the food, entertainment...friends, mates as you call them...all looked great and sounded wonderful.  I am so happy all went well.  So sorry Roman is having those teething problems....they all do!  I know he must be so uncomfortable and it makes for an rough night or day.  You take care and have a great Sunday evening...rest up from all that dancing!
Hugs and love,

It sounds like a good time was had by all.  Everyone looks like they're having way too much fun ! Sorry you didn't win anything in the raffle.  Poor little Roman needs one of those cold rings to chew on, to help his gums feel better.  Linda

Sounds like you had a great time!!! You always always get some nasty people that spoil it for the rest of the crowd; we've known people to walk out purely because of the obnoxious few that get too soused for their own good, so they end up missing the good evening all because the club don't throw out the trouble makers!!!

Great photos. Glad you had such a good time but sorry for that memory man, what a way to be treated when he was doing his best.  Poor Roman, yes I am afraid he will get this now.  I know alerts have not been working so, as you are following the story, you have two chapters of Pips tale to catch up on when you feel upto it.

Poor little Roman - suffering teething problems....be a good job when they are all through.
There are always some people ready to make fools of themselves - by shouting and telling the memory man he was rubbish....glad they got thrown out.....Hope you have a good evening.....Ally

You seem to be really enjoying yourself in the pictures, they turned out very well.  A walk is great even if you are tired it blows away the cobwebs and relaxes dancing legs. Love Joan.

You look great Sandra. Glad you all had an enjoyable night out despite the pratts who were rude to the poor memory guy...maybe he was just standing in for an act that cancelled at the last minute as it does seem an odd choice for an evening do???? Wish I had the energy to dance the night away!!  Eve
