Hello everyone,
Welcome to a bitterly cold Thursday afternoon. It has been dark nearly all day and I think someone must have switched off the sun! I left the house this morning at 8.30 and all the cars had theit headlights on. The sky was really leaden and just after I left it tried to snow but didn`t come to anything though I wouldn`t be at all surprised if we don`t get some later. Tescos was empty again and shopping was a breeze, I was in and out of there really quickly despite having bought a heavy shop. I bought Roman an avocado as they are apparently really good for babies, being full of vitamins, he loves his fruit so I`m sure he`ll eat it without a problem. Kerry took him back to the doctor this morning and she changed his skin cream and told Kerry to throw all the others away. The doctor told Kerry that though the excema is widespread she has seen far worse and she thinks it`s the sort that he`ll grow out of. Kerry had it herself but only mildly, Danny had it far worse than Roman but his was accompanied by asthma and hay fever, which took until he was a teenager to grow out of.
My graphics theme today is cats, not that I`m a true cat lover. I admire cats and many have kept me as their pet but since our last one died we decided against anymore and have stuck with our beloved dogs ever since. Paddie was the last cat, a medium-sized black and white female with a face like a kitten, a temperament like a tiger and a baleful stare. She was given to us along with her adopted `sister` Hazel, a fat tabby who was the sweetest-natured cat you could ever wish to share your home with. Paddie soon pledged her allegience to Kerry and no-one else, Hazel was everybody`s friend and spent her short time with us purring and looking pretty. Whereas Paddie stalked, killed and ate birds at an alarming rate, Hazel looked on with absolutely no interest at all, preferring to sit in the garden and soak up the sunshine. One day Hazel disappeared and despite our searching, putting up posters etc. we couldn`t find her. Life went on with Paddie not missing Hazelat all apart from not having anyone to boss around anymore. About three years later, a friend told me that Hazel was living a couple of streets away with an elderly man who lived alone. I was given the address but decided to leave it alone and let the chap keep her living with him. Hazel would have gone to anyone who fed her and had obviouly found someone who fed her even more than we did. That left Paddie, who bit scratched myself, Jim and Danny more times than I care to remember, including the vet who regularly had to treat her for abcesses caused by the bite wounds recieved during her many fights. Any affection we showed her was returned with complete disinterest apart from when it was Kerry who picked her up. Then of course she purred loudly and behaved like a kitten! She even detested both Rosie and Hannah, Rosie I could possibly understand as she wasn`t a cat lover , but Hannah was really sweet to her and had her nose so badly scratched that she carried the scar on her pink nose for the rest of her days. Paddie stayed with us until she was nearly 14 and her immune system couldn`t stand up to the infections caused her constant fighting. After the way she treated us all those years I couldn`t believe how upset we both were when we had to let her go. She certainly had spirit did our Paddie ,but we decided to have a much quieter and safer life with our docile dogs in the future. They may not be quite as intelligent but boy, is life simpler!!!
I`ll say goodbye for now. I hope you all have a lovely evening, take care.

Love the cat jokes!
I'm allergic to cats and in truth not a cat lover anyway but I enjoyed reading about Paddie and Hazel with their different characters. Think you're best and safer sticking to the dogs!!
I liked your cat entry today... I have a very nice cat named Charlie... everyone likes him but he hides when certain people come over. My favorite time of day is when everyone is in bed and he comes and sits with me for an hour or so each evening.... I also have 2 chihuahuas but don't enjoy letting them out in this cold weather about 10 times every night... they get bored at night I think and alway are begging to go outside.... My cat stayes in all day and night. Pets are all nice to have though I think don't you? Sandra
Seems we both are thinking "cats" today...that is also my theme for my journal...mainly for cat lovers. I love your rockin kittie! LOL I do hope and pray the excema clears up for Roman...he looks great though from past photos. The weather here is mild today, in Virginia. Tomorrow it will be back to the cold. Have a wonderful day...hugs,
Joyce
Love the cat graphics, ezpecially the boogeying one with the headphones!!!
Love the cat jokes...Must say i don't particularly like dogs at all but i do love cats...Especially tigers, i'd love to adopt one of them. Caff xxx
CUTE graphic! Poor Roman! My youngest brother has been plagued with excema all his life...miserable. I fed all my babies avos...loved 'em! Very high in essential fat...might help Roman's skin. Stay warm. ;) C. http://journals.aol.com/gdireneoe/thedailies
Glad the super market wasn't busy and you got your shopping done fast.My Daughter and her husband went to see King Kong and they enjoyed it too and said the three hours went quickly..... Jean
Iknow what you mean about being owned by a cat ,our Bert was 16 when he died ,and was saddly missed though I never admitted to it whilst he was alive he certainly kept Oliver our dog at the time in order ,He moved house three times with us too !great graphics ........Jan xx
Just loved your tale about your cat....I'm surprised she lived as long as she did, going by her lifestyle. You might say she was a fighter.lol..amazing how she let Kerry handle her and no one else.....Liked the silly cat Jokes.....Ally
That's a nice tale I can imagine Paddie!! Our cat was a bit of a scratcher but I was very depressed when he passed away :-(
That was an interesting story about the personalities of the two cats. It's strange that Hazel never came back to visit with you it being so close. Maybe her new owner kept her in all the time. Hope Roman's skin soon clears up. Helen
I wondered if Roman's excema was the type that they grow out of, bless him. My Brother had it as a child, as does his son. I got the hayfever and asthma, am still waiting to grow out of that ;o)

Paddie sounded a real character. My two cats are very docile and sweet natured, I've always been lucky to have 'dopey' cats!! I do hope Roman will grow out of his eczema, a lot of kids do. We have so many at the hospital nowadays, some are really disfigured with it. Jeannette. http://journals.aol.co.uk/jlocorriere05/Welcometomytravels
I am deathly allergic to cats so i do not like them at all but i have family who hate dogs and worship their cats. I like your entry and your obvious affection for this paininthebutt kittie who grew on you anyway!
Its COLD here in Ohio. Spitting snow.
LOVE, lisa
Cat lover here. You are right, they own us! Paddie reminds me a bit of our Susie.
Im more of a dog lover but I do like to see a beautiful cat.Liked the cat jokes!!
I liked the joke with the Cheetha punch line. I don't like cats that have gone into my workspace in my barn and leave their scent behind. They serve a good purpose for keeping down mice populations. mark
