Hello everyone,
What funny weather we are having, yesterday morning was bitterly cold and frosty, last night it poured with rain and became much milder, this morning was dry and mild, at least it was when I went to Tesco this morning, when I came out it was getting quite windy. This afternoon the wind had become decidedly chilly, as I found to my cost when I went out with Jake. I didn`t wrap up as I have lately and by the time I got home I was frozen! I think we will have a cold night judging by the clear sky and most likely a frosty one too.....and that`s the end of today`s weather forecast...lol!
The above photo was taken by Jim last night. He only managed to get one good photograph of the decorated houses on account of the rain but he hopes to get some more tonight, there really are some beautiful ones just around the corner, though goodness knows how much their electric bill will be. I watched a man decorate his house and he had done a brilliant job covering the entire roof with snowmen, santas etc. I do hope Jim gets a photo of that one, it looks amazing the in day time so I can only imagine what it looks like at night. I admire the nerve of these people who climb up ladders to fix the decs to the roof, I hate heights and I wouldn`t like to go up even one rung of a ladder, let alone climb onto the roof!
I had to feel sorry for Slava whose car broke down AGAIN today, he has just had alot of work done to it only a couple of weeks ago and now everything cut out on him while driving to work. He called his breakdown recovery and they towed him home and then Jim drove him to work. Hopefully it is nothing too serious and can be fixed without too much expense. The car used to be ours but Jim gave it to Kerry a couple of years ago and then she passed it on to Slava when she bought a new one. When we had it it was as good as gold and we had a trouble-free few years of ownership. Oh well, it`s fairly old by today`s standards but Jim reckons it still has a few years left in it still, let`s hope so for Slava`s sake. Still no news on the `Crime House`, the local paper hasn`t been delivered as sometimes happens and will probably turn up tomorrow, not bad for a mid-week paper ( she says with a hint of sarcasm in her voice) Just when there`s something I particularly want to read too....hmph!
I was really surprised this morning in Tesco at the lack of moaning shoppers, the store was all but deserted, very strange for a thursday morning, especially at this time of year. I was there at 9am as usual expecting to have problems parking, but no, I parked in the same row that I always do and had a leisurely shopping trip, just the way I like it. I spoke to the lady on the checkout and she said the only time it is fairly busy is the evenings and even then it`s steady as opposed to frantic. Perhapsa people are more organised this year or they are waiting for the last minute to attack the shops!
This morning we received a Christmas card addressed to both of us and in a very nice handwriting but the person who sent it forgot to sign it. I don`t recognis the writing and the postmark on the envelope was to faint to read, it`s a mystery folks! That`s it from me for today. I hope the day has been good to you, Bye bye for now.
Candles are a gift of light,
A tiny sun, a bit of star.
No other dancer in the night
Dances with such sheer delight,
Little souls serene and bright,
Each a glimpse of what we are
Shining innocent and pure.

I had an unsigned one as well, see yesterdays entry!!!! The graphics and pics are lovely
I like your penguins today...Well i presume they're penguins...you do have some wonderful siggy tags :o) Tut at paper not arriving yet i so need next instalment <g> I've had that with cards before but usually recognise the writing Caff xxx
Lovely picture of the decorated house. I posted quite a few pics of our decs yesterday but I think you missed them. Mike has never been one for going up ladders so we have never put anything on the roof. I get giddy on a small flight of indoor steps, me and heights just do not get on. What a shame your paper has not come yet and you are still keeping us in suspenders. Sorry about Slava's car, hope he gets it fixed soon and it is not too costly. Strange we both have a mystery over Christmas cards. Pity your other graphics did not come out they probably did not upload. I had to upload something twice this morning before it would appear.

How strange, just as I clicked save on my comment, your graphics appeared lol, just to make me out a liar. Love the dancing penguins.
Pretty photo of the lights. Sorry Slava's car has broken down on him. Hope he soon gets it fixed. Great that you had a good shopping morning without a big crowd. I need to drive around the neighborhood and get some Christmas lights. I have thought about doing it but the last few nights have been cold and I didn't want to get out. So it's still quite at the crime house? Helen
Love the photo of the house with lights.I rekon the electric bill will be very steep.Great Graphics in this entry a lot of work has gone in to this entry and it's a credit to Sandra's talents.Well done on a great entry. Not just a pretty face lol.
Beautiful photo and graphics! I hope Slava's car problem is a minor one. It's not cold at all here in the daytime, but in the middle of the night, I'm shivering! Blessings, Penny http://journals.aol.com/firestormkids04/FromHeretoThere
What a beautiful picture Sandra. It is snowing-snowing-snowing here in the Midwest. Our first big snow. It just makes it so much more "special" at Christmas time. :) I may snap a few pictures of it and post them in my journal.
Love ya,
Sharon
I'm with you as far as heights are concerend! You wont see me climbing any laders haha! Best to stay away from the shops so you don't get mauled haha! I do hope you find out who the mystery card is from haha!
Kara
So you found a deserted shop too?!! Not often that happens any time of year but almost unheard of at Christmas!! Hope there's not too much wrong with Slava's car. Jeannette.
That house looks so beautiful...we love riding around looking at the houses all lit up for Christmas...I too wonder what their electric bill must be like.
You've got quite a light show there, Sandra. I mailed a card to you & Jim Wednesday (12-6-05) but I know I signed it. And besides it couldn't have gone across the pond and to your house that soon. It's cold here too. It was 24 degrees this morning. Brrrrrrrr. It it summer yet?
I feel left out, I didn't get an unsigned Christmas card ;o)
Lovely pic of the house with all the lights, there are a few houses like that around here, but not many. Can't help thinking how long that must have taken to put all the decs up!! I would leave them up all year if it were me!!
Hope Slava's car can be fixed without too much expense.

Lovely photo of the house decorated with so many lights.....I'm sorry to hear Slava's car is playing up lets hope it is fixed soon - and not to much to be done to it. I always talk to my little car (Blue Eyes) when I turn the ignition key - and so far she has been as good as gold...she likes the name Blue Eyes because she is Blue lol....Lucky you finding Tesco's almost deserted - going shopping this afternoon hope I find Sainsburys almost empty - I doubt it though..don't think that was my card as I have hurt my right hand and am having difficulty writing I remember the pain of having to write each card...lol...Ally
I love the Christmas decorations here too and appreciate folks doing it as it is so pleasureable and heart warming to see. We don't do it here at our house as neither Hubby or I are very "handy" at those types of things.
Hope you find out about the neighbors and hope Slava gets the car running again for a long time. Oh and I hope my shopping is easy today too.
Sonya
All i see are X's. I hope you find out who sent the card. We had 5 inches of snow and its 9 degrees. Miserable. I had to drive in it.Miserable again.
I hope that Slava can get the car fixed cheaply.
XO lisa jo
