Hello everyone,
I hope you`re all well today. Friday has literally blown in here in the South of England and the leaves are finally leaving the trees.
This morning I woke up with a really bad back, the result of not the bump in the back I got from that rude woman yesterday but most likely pushing an over-loaded supermarket trolley. Jim said he had a couple of twinges in his back yesterday and I`m really paying for it today. I`m ok as long as I keep my back poker straight and remember to bend my knees instead of bending forwards, oh dear I hate this growing older business...it`s a real nuisance and I object to the limitations it`s starting to cause. What happened to the days when I would race around Tesco with two children and a full load of shopping in the trolley, and I wouldn`t even feel tired. This afternoon though, Kerry surprised me when after playing with Roman on the floor, I stood up and my knee had `locked` and I couldn`t stand up straight away. She told me that it happens to her all the time, I thought it was just me and the ageing process...lol!
We have a bit of local gossip going on here. Yesterday, early in the morning there was a police van in the driveway of a house at the bottom of our road. The thing is with the people in this house is that they moved in about two years ago after having extensive building work done to it. They had the floors laid with marble tiles, two full height extensions and interior walls knocked down and a driveway laid. It must have cost them a small fortune. Anyway, once moved in the new cars started arriving, first off a brand new top of the range black Mercedes costing in excess of £30,000, then a VW Golf, a black sporty little number, again brand new. Then a black four-wheel drive appeared, another car that according to Jim must have cost about £35,000! We did wonder at the time what they did for a living but only in passing. Then yesterday, the cars disappeared, so have all the occupants. Now everyone is wondering why they were raided by the police.......the plot thickens. Watch this space for an update, I`ll be scanning the papers and keeping an ear to the ground to see if there is an international crime racket going on....lol!
This morning Jim and I went into town, not shopping this time but to pay some bills. The crowds were out in force carrying bag after bag of shopping, how I do NOT envy them! Just the cards to do now, I went to the Post Office and bought the stamps for the overseas cards. I`ve found out that it doesn`t cost much more to post Christmas card to the USA than it does to Europe. I have one card to post to Spain, which is, only about 900 miles. The USA however, is about 5000 miles from here and only costs pennies more in postage, then of course once in the States there is the little matter of the size of the country. I have friends who live on different sides and opposite ends of the country, but the rate for America is the same all over. I wonder why that is, no doubt once the powers that be see a descrepancy they will put up the rate to the USA.
Anyway, I`m going to have some dinner now, so I`ll say goodbye and wish you all a lovely relaxing weekend. Take care.

Ohh, wonder what is going on in that house, sounds like they have been up to no good, they had to get all that money from somewhere. Sorry to hear about your back. All my cards have gone off now but I bet someone will send me one that I have not taken into consideration. It happens every year. I think I have covered them all and a card comes in from someone I did not send to. Great picture of Jim and Roman.
Poor back!
Getting old is a bummer..............
Look forward to hearing more about your "neighbours".
I'm just about to write my cards out tonight as I have a day off work. Not nicew getting old is it? Trouble is we still think young, I'm much against growing old and sensible!! Lovely photo of Jim and Roman. Jeannettexxxx. http://journals.aol.co.uk/jlocorriere05/Welcometomytravels
I think the supermarket trollies should be fitted with small motors....to make it easier for us shoppers....I think you are right Sandra I bet it was the pushing that hurt your back...I wonder what is going on at the end of your road, sounds exciting - Nice array of cars they have....(perhaps they are into drugs) I shall keep watching this space for an update...lol....The Picture of Jim and Roman is lovely.......enjoy your dinner Sandra - and you to have a good week end.....
How often your body betrays you as you get older! Unfortuately, it doesn't seem to get any better. I never thought I would reach the point where getting down on my hands and knees was literally impossible, but I have! Maybe I should say, getting down can be done, though it's not easy--it's the getting back up that tests one's mettle!
Isn't it exciting to have a potential scandal in the neighborhood? I look forward to your updates.
That's a great pic up there at the start of your entry Sandra, love the Christmassy frame :o) Poor you, with your back :o( Hope that improves soon. Wondering what your neighbours have been up to, you'll have to tell us if you ever find out! Have a nice relaxing evening my dear, rest your back :o)

For some reason I cant get your picture, but I read the other comments and they say that it's great. So I am left with some disappointment, but hey! your Christmas decorations are beautiful. I love reindeer with your name. It all makes your entry seem so full of the spirit. I hope your back recovers soon. An aching back is a real pain to deal with. Merry Christmas, Pennie
Great picture of Jim and Daniel. Love the frame. Hope your back soon gets better, I feel for you.
Your Graphics are pretty. Helen
My knees used to lock all the time and so badly when mikey was 7 months old i ended up on crutches for 6 weeks with a metal splint from thigh to ankle on one leg...It went away and came back again 2½ years ago with a vengence...On crutches again and newer type knee splint for 4 weeks...Ended up with mri, x rays and at orthapedics...He decided it was wear and tear inside my knee cap and i got physio...Physio said my quads were weak and i got exercises to strengthen them up...Going to the gym has been really beneficial for it...Lovely pic with seasonal frame and great graphics again :o) Can't wait to find out the gossip on your neighbours <g> Caff xxx
I am sorry your back is so sore today...it is probably badly brusied...
I really love the photo, so nice!!!! Stores and post office here are packed with people buy gifts, stamps and more. They ran out of Christmas stamps I heard someone say...I did get mine in time, thank goodness.
Wow, that is some gossip...when you find out exactly why the cars and people are now gone...let us know. You have a wonderful weekend. Hugs,
Joyce

Oh hi there Sandra. Just catching up with you after so many days of being behind. You are going to laugh at this. I have everything on bloglines.com instead of alerts. It highlights (bolds itself) when you have new entries. It lists everything in alpha order. And you are in the "S". So I never get down that far as I am always short of time. Now I've decided everyother time I read bloglines, I will start at top one time and the bottom the next. Anyway that's my story as why I'm never here. It's funny to me though that it works that way. Or I could ask you to change your journal name to something that starts with A. LOL.
So, I love this pic of Jim and Roman in the cute frame. Roman looks a bit sleepy.
I hope your back is much better. Get some rest. You are lucky to have shopping done. I think you said yours was finito!
Have a good day.
Sonya
Beautiful entry Sandra. Keep us informed about the local "goings on", I'm nosey lol. Just noticed you have "American Style" Ads at the top of your journal page. Am away to see if the entry I did a couple of days ago, is plastered with stupid ads. Knowing my luck, they will have put dating agency ads on mine. Keep laughing.

Hello over there Sandra...as far as our postage is concerned. Letters and cards are the same (the first ounce) 37 cents..going up to 39 cents in January I understand. Packages in the US are what differ in price. If I wanted to mail a 2 pound package from my house in Washington state to someone on the east coast for instance, it would cost $5.75 but if I mailed the same package to someone here in Washington it would only be $3.95. So that's where it adds up. Hope your back feels better..I feel your pain. I had major back surgery in 1991 after an on-the job injury and it's never been the same since. Love the picture of Jim and little soft cheeks. Linda
Hi Sandra!
Your blog looks beautiful these days! I remember when you first started! You've come a long way, Kiddo.
Your life sounds very active and happy, you even have an exciting dash of criminal activity going on down the road to contemplate vicariously- Better than Saturday night TV!
I love your Reindeer tags-would Toni make me one?!
How's Jake and his chewing proclivities? Poor thing, he's probably trying to tell you something...We tried this anti-chew spray with one of our dogs earlier this year with a spectacular lack of effect. In the end he just stopped anyway so the mystery remains open! By the way I've got an awful neck, lower back thing going on too. Went to a massage therapist yesterday, £40, felt good afterwards, this morning returned with a vengeance! Horrid!

The photo of Jim and Roman is excellent. I have been giving my replacement knees a workout with going up and down the ladder working on my home. I am feeling my years and can not do much but recline when I have been on my feet for 8 hours. You have a real mystery going on in your neighborhood. Your Christmas graphics are great. mark
