RAIN, BOARDS AND BONES!

Hello everyone,

At last we have some real weather, not snow, but horrible freezing, torrential rain...ugh!  This morning I went into town very early and bought my lovely new ironing board.  When I got back to my car I realised that getting it home wasn`t going to be as easy as I had first thought.  The ironing board is big and my car is small and somehow I had to get the thing home.  I eventually managed to get the board perched longways through the car, with one end balanced on the passenger seat.  All was well until I was almost home when the board slipped and almost hit me on the head.  I made it home with one hand holding on to the board....flipping thing, it was really heavy too and when I struggled indoors with it Jake,  who was watching suspiciously, decided it look dangerous and decided to run for cover.  I must admit that I was actually looking forward to my pile of ironing with this state of the art board, .....I know, I need to get out more...lol!

Talking of going out, I decided to take Jake straight out before I changed my mind.  The weather was dreadful and I didn`t fancy going out at all, but like I said yesterday, Jake wouldn`t understand!  Walking was really no fun at all, I`d barely gone 200 yards and I was pretty wet already but I soldiered on, singing various songs to myself that all contained the word `rain` in the titles!  The ones that I sang the most was " I Can`t Stand The Rain" and "It`s Raining Men".  When we reached the back field I was drenched, despite all my weather-proof clothing and watched miserably as Jake charged around without a care in the world.  When it was time to go I called Jake  back but he had found a bone and which was far more fun than going home. When he finally decided it was time to go it was with the bone tightly clenched between his jaws. When we reached home finally Jake wouldn`t give up the bone, so it was straight into the garden for him while I got changed and had a much needed cup of coffee.  I finally finished the ironing, Jake gave up the bone, most likely because he realised that it`s warmer and more comfortable indoors and the bone wasn`t as important as he thought.

I can hardly believe that today is New Years Eve.  I don`t know where this year has gone to, so much has happened across the world and to me personally.  The world has seen terrible weather that has resulted in catastrophies, such as hurricane Katrina that devasted New Orleans. We had the terrorist bombs that brought London to a standstill.  Many lives were lost in 2005, I wish in 2006, the world will be a more settled, peaceful place for us all.  That`s it from me today, and all that`s left is to wish you all :

"Ring out the old, ring in the new,
Ring, happy bells, across the snow:
The year is going, let him go;
Ring out the false, ring in the true."

Correction, New Years Eve is tomorrow!!!! If I am wrong then we should be getting ready for the gig! Check your calendar Sandra, either that or you are in a different time dimension to the rest of us, LOL!!! You are lucky it was just rain, here it was sleet and very, very cold!!! Jake is just like Sam, he hates the ironing board, and the hoover, and the washing machine, and the......list goes on!

Can imagine your struggling with that ironing board and the car, visions of Mr. Bean.  Well, we got snow and not much rain.  Really heavy snow, wonderful to see but then showers came and put and end to it.  Love your new year graphic, have not been able to find much in the way of them.  I agree about the new year, this old world has been through so much in the last 12 months. God willing it will be a better year for the world and for each one of us.

I finally got to see the rain in your graphic pouring.    Salty does not obey until he has been exploring the neighborhood for hours.    He can be tempted with a treat in my hand.   Have a good New Years Eve tonight being that it is finally Saturday  lol    Hope you and your family have a wonderful New Year!    mark
