SUN, BBQ`S AND PRAMS

Hello journal friends.....it`s another sizzlin` day here.  Very hot, but not as hot as yesterday as there is a bit of a breeze and it makes life more comfortable.   I`ve been waiting in all day for Kerry`s pram to arrive.  It turned up 30mins ago, having come all the way from Milton Keynes .....  yes Sara...near to you!  I`ve just left Jim to assemble it, whatever happened to the days when you bought a pram, put the baby in and pushed it away?  Nowadays you need a degree in engineering to put it all together!

I spent most of yesterday trying to do nothing...well I did the ironing quite early in the morning because it had to be done but I wanted to get it over with before the heat  became unbearable.  I read some journals for a little while.  Then Jim and I took some flowers to Mortlake crematorium for his Dad.  We came home the long way through Richmond Park, where the deer looked at us with a total lack of interest, I suppose they don`t like it too hot either!  It was a nice ride home made even more enjoyable by the air-con in the car.  We later sat outside with the parasol up but found the heat to fierce to stay there for long, even Danny and his girlfriend couldn`t stay out side long either, so we all trouped inside to find a bit of cool.  The only place where it feels coolish is the tiles on the kitchen floor.  Me and Jake were the only ones who sat down there though, and he is always on the floor!

Kerry called in yesterday morning to wish Jim Happy Father`s day but forgot he was working.  She had to work herself and she said the heat is making life hard for her at the moment.  I`m sure all you ladies out there will sympathise with her.  Jim was sent home from work after a fuel spillage.  There was a problem with one of the pumps and gushed out all over him.  Health and Safety regulations say you have to shower immediately and change your clothes, so he had the shower and was sent home afterwards.  Last time it happened to him it sprayed in his face, thankfully it didn`t this time but that fuel is nasty stuff.

Last night we were invited to a BBQ and this time we accepted readily, saving us from any cooking.  We had a nice evening with a friends, having a few drinks and some good food in the shade of the garden.   We got home at 9.30 and as it was cooler and still light we took Jake for a walk in the back field where he happily chased rabbits until it was dark.  I gave him a drink of water and then we headed back home.  Jim and myself were tired from the heat of the day and Jakey from bunny chasing.  Hopefully in about 30 mins we will be taking him swimming in Black Park.  It`s the only decent exercise he`ll have while it`s so hot.

I`ll be off now,  Have a lovely day all of you and take care  :-)

FIRST DEGREE OF BLONDE

A married couple were asleep when the phone rang at 2am.  The wife, who was blonde, picked up the phone and listened for a minute and said  " How should I know, it`s miles from here!"  and hung up.

The husband said, " Who was that?"

The wife said, " I don`t know, some woman wanting to know if the coast is clear."

I waved at the pram on it's way past me ;o)
Hasn't it been too much with the heat this past few days, I don't know what we'd have done without the air con in the car, and being able to go for long drives.  Sounds like you've had a nice couple of days though, glad you enjoyed the BBQ with your friends.  Sooo wanting to go swimming with Jakey boy, but you'll have already left by now ;o)

I love that remark from the blond wife - lol! Yes, it must be hell for Kerry in this heat. Poor girl has to go all summer like that too - well, most of the summer anyway. Much fresher today though, down here in Zomerset.

LOL @ the joke :-)  Poor Kerry she must be feeling terrible - glad I'm not pregnant in this weather.  I hope Jim managed to fix the pram together!

I don't believe there is very many things you can buy nowdays that is already assembled. Hope your heat wave ends soon. It's thundering like crazy here now but don't know if the rain will get here or not. We are beginning to need a good one. Helen

Heat here is going to get bad soon they say...you have a jump on us.  I heard my Mom say she had me in the middle of a heatwave in Washington DC...I cannot relate to Kerry, but I feel for her.  Thank goodness Jim is okay and you are right...glad it did not go into his face.

Have a good one!

I know what you mean about pre-assembled "stuff" (the good old days) It's annoying how many products require assembly. I'd rather buy display models : )
Last week our temperatures sizzled, but we've cooled considerately since Sunday, in fact, it's 56 F now. It won't last thou; our area is famous for thick muggy temperatures.
Today is our official "FIRST DAY OF SUMMER",  the summer solstice aka the longest day of the year ... YAY!
Remember how long summer days seemed as a kid?

Luckily Jim wasn't injured during the fuel spillage.

Take care & stay cool.

Rick
