A RESTFUL DAY

Hello everyone...it`s friday at last.  Not that it really makes much difference to me as I`m not working, but I thought I`d say it anyway!

Yesterday,  a couple of things happened that I forgot to mention....my memory is getting terrible!....  Firstly when I got up yesterday morning and opened the back door to let Jake out I saw the oddest thing.  The bird table, which has a very sturdy base, was lying flat on the ground!  I can`t think how it might have happened, Jim suggested a large bird, but the largest we get is a crow, a magpie or a wood pigeon.  I think it would need something the size of a vulture to knock it over like that, and we don`t see many of them around here..lolol!   I can only think that as a couple of cats come and sit in the bushes at the back of the garden, one of them might have fancied his chances of a birdie breakfast. jumped at the table and got a bit of a shock!

Just after that incident, Jim took Jake out early before the sun got too hot.  When he got home he didn`t look very happy.....Jim that is!.....and proceeded to tell me that Jake had knocked him over in the back field.  Apparently Jake.....who always runs with all the speed of an express train without brakes........came charging through the undergrowth directly at Jim , he side-stepped to make way for him , but to no avail ,as Jake had his path mapped out for him and there was no stopping him now and that`s when it happened...CRASH...  Jim went down and Jake carried on running until he must have realised that he couldn`t see Jim and hurried back. He then...I have it on good authority.....ran to Jim and started to lick him to see if he was ok..well of course he was, but he was very cross with Jake.  I`ve told Jim that I just drop to the ground before he gets to me, a little odd I know but somehow the thought of a broken leg doesn`t hold much appeal.....Jim was not impressed!...

Today has been a quiet gentle sort of day.  We went shopping in the town and had a coffee in Marks.  We later went into an Index store that will soon be closing down and Jim bought me silver crucifix that I said I liked.  It`s really lovely and I didn`t expect to to buy it for me, as I was going to treat myself.  I just love it when he does things like that for me...he is really good to me and it makes me feel really humble...bless him!

I`m having a lazy afternoon just messing about online, reading journals while the washing machine rumbles away in the background. I plan to do nothing else for the rest of the afternoon apart from take Jake for a walk when I finish this entry.  So, to all of you out  there, enjoy the rest of your friday and have a smashing weekend !

Glad Jim wasn't hurt when he took the tumble. Good for you that you get close to the ground before Jake gives you a tumble also. Those bigger dogs don't realize what damage they can do, do they? Good for Jim for buying that crucifix for you.
I don't know if you have a Mississippi river there but there is one here in the US and it's a big river. They have those big river boats on it. Hope you and your family have a great weekend. Helen

Poor Jim, that did make me laugh though, I'm sorry :o)
That must be a scary thing, to have Jake run at you like that!
Hope you had as nice an afternoon as you did morning, and a super duper weekend to you.

You will have to sign Jim up for a few sessions of "matador" training. Round one to Jake. Keep laughing.

Could Jake has knocked your bird table over?  Poor Jim, hope he is not too black and blue.  Ours used to be like that when they were younger but they always ran around us lol.  Well, it looks like winter clothes back on again!!!  Some summer so far. Have a great weekend my friend xxxxx

Wow, Jake sure is strong...hope Jim is okay today, hopefully not too sore.  Jake knew he did wrong when he came back to lick him to see if he was okay.  Jim sounds like my husband...the crucifix was such a sweet thing for him to buy you.  I am glad you had a lazy afternoon..can you pass one my way!  Joyce

What a nice thing Jim did.  I love it when women journalers tell the nice things that their husbands do.  So many times we hear about thedarker side.  It's refreshing to read about a sweet man and his over zealous dog!  Love It.  Pennie
